  1. I am going to the UK next week [Friday] and intend applying for my Thai Pass before I go.  I have all the documents in place [I think!] - re-entry permit [Non-O extension based on marriage], International Vaccine Passport, air ticket and will by the end of today have the SHA+ hotel reservation and AXA insurance for return.  The required before travel PCR test I will arrange in England.

My question is: if I register for the Thai Pass now [and get it] using my existing passport which has all the visa and re-entry stamps in it but get a new passport while I am in England [this one is full] will I face any  problems?

  2. Eric  - I am asking because getting the yellow  vaccine passport is  extremely  difficult.  As far as I am aware there is only 1 centre  in Bangkok to get one.    That is very difficult to attend in person and appointments are booked up through mid-January  so it is  turn  up  and wait.   My friend  did it last week and it  took 6  hours!

  3. I have read several threads about members travelling to the UK, but I have one specific query which I hope someone can help me with.

I have a Covid-19 certificate from the hospital in Chai Nat where I had my  vaccinations [ 2 x Pfizer].  The certificate [copy below] is headed Thailand National Certificate of Coved-19 Vaccination.

Is this sufficient  for entry to UK or do I need to really get the 'yellow book' version?

Any advice appreciated especially from anyone who has entered the UK using such a certificate.  Thank you very much.

  4. Dear All,

I know many of these points have been raised and discussed before but not being very computer literate to find them I hope you will forgive me.

Following the changes in UK entry and quarantine and the proposed changes to Thai quarantine, I am now planning to go to the UK for Christmas and to see family.  I am trying to check that I am preparing everything to get back to Thailand easily.

    My circumstances:

    1. UK citizen 71 years old

    2. Married [legally in Thailand with all documents] to Thai and have been for many years

    3. On a Non-O extension based on marriage expiring March 2022 with 400k in bank

    4. Two dose vaccinated for Covid in Thailand [Pfizer vaccine] and have certificate

    My questions are:

    1. My Thai vaccination certificate will be valid for return to Thailand

    2. My Non-O extension [I will get a Re-Entry permit before I go] will be accepted for a CoE

    3. If I return on, for example, the 12th January what insurances will I need and where can I get them and for what period?

    4. I will renew my passport while in UK - will both new and old be accepted by Immigration?

    5. I will be in the UK for approximately 3 weeks.  Is this enough to get CoE etc?

Thank you for any advice and comments.

  5. My friend has urgent need to return to UK.

I have given him the best info I can find but still have one question.  He lives in Suphan Buri province and the question is - he has to take a Covid test 72 hrs before flight.  He is under the impression the results certificate would be required at Suvarnabhumi in Thai [by Immigration and Thai Airways] and at Heathrow in English.  Is this correct?

    Thank you.

  6. Thank you gentlemen.

Basically - there is a job offer in the offing from a Thai company.  It would be employment on an annual contract basis [renewable].

There would be a formal contract etc.  I have no idea about the Work Permit process and was looking for advice on what it required.  My current extension is until March next year and nothing has changed which will affect that [I don't think].  It is just to give me some idea of the process involved in obtaining a work permit once [and if] the position goes ahead.

  7. Hi David,

Last time I did my 5yr in Pattaya they used a large Ishihara chart and that was what I couldn't see properly.  If my local office uses traffic lights there will be no problem as they will be large and bright.  It is when colours are mixed I have problems.

    Welcome to the 10%!

  8. Dear All,

My 5 yr licence is due for renewal in August.  Have all the necessary paperwork and not worried about that side of things.

What I am worried about is the colour test.  Like 10% of males I am colour vision deficient in red/green.  I can see the colours clearly when they are separate and clear [e.g. traffic lights] but when colours are mixed as in the Ishihara diagrams I cannot see the 'hidden' numbers.

How important is the colour vision test to licence renewal?  All other things I am OK with.
