It just seems an odd choice. Surely 30th would be more logical?
The initial amnesty was approved on April 7th, but it retroactively applied to anyone whose visa was still valid on March 26th. So this would make exactly 6 months of amnesty.

If the Amnesty ends and the borders are shut, then there is no where else to go.
It is very highly optimistic to think the borders will be open by September 26. They might still be closed September 26, 2021.

But there are no direct flights to London with EVA, BA or Thai. Why is that?
Probably not enough passengers. Airlines are still flying a very limited network of flights because not many people are traveling.

There is no ban on departing flights. There never has been. Many of these airlines have had departures from bkk through out the entire covid pandemic.

"home" would be the country printed on their passports and/or another country where they have residency. those that have the means to return "home" won't necessarily have the option of declining. there's always the possibility immigration will play hardball, and consider those not actually stranded and unable to leave thailand to be on overstay.
Automatic extension for everyone until September 26. Only those who can not leave by September 26 will need to apply for a extension—they can apply any time after July 31 until sept 26. 100% crystal clear.

I saw this, too, and contacted the DM High Commission in London right away. Unfortunately they confirmed borders remain closed to all at the moment but told me to keep checking for any changes to the situation.
FYI, Lots of other Caribbean islands are open. I was considering Barbados. I think St Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, and Jamaica are all open. Maybe others too. You could wait it out in one of these countries.

In my humble opinion, the "new round" will most likely be approved. I tend to agree with the BH on the extension until Sept. 30 when more flights will be in service.
Yeah! The cabinet approval is just a formality. We can celebrate now.

They are going to make money from stranded foreigners , temper your excitement, guys. You are going to get your 30 or 60 days extension but this time you are going to pay for it.
Not enough time now. It would be chaos. Maybe they planned that before the Rayong Egyptian fiasco, but I think that changed their plans and they don’t want to see lines of thousands of farangs crowded together at immigration offices.

The US embassy has nothing to do with visa amnesty in Thailand. They don’t have any idea if it will be extended or not. It is the Thai government that will determine the visa policy in Thailand.- 1

Many of us don’t have a safe place to go. In my case, I face a minimum of 5 weeks of quarantine In my country, and I am not even sure if I will be allowed to go to my home town. If I do make it home, I will be living in a seriously infected area where the hospitals are overflowing. Oh, and I am in a high risk group because of my age. So, yah some of us are stressed.

during the last lock down and even during the curfew people could still travel to essential places, airport included
Nope, not if you were in a different province and needed to get to bkk. Travel Between provinces was nearly impossible.

Outgoing flights never stopped, any lock down or new regulations won't change that.
True, but like last time, any lockdown may stop virtually all domestic travel. So it may be impossible to actually get to the Bangkok airport if you are in one of the affected areas.

It will actually help a lot if they extend amnesty another month or two.
New countries are opening up to tourists every day. For example, Maldives opened up yesterday, no quarantine required. In august, many more will open, some of them covid free and no quarantine required if coming from low risk countries like Thailand.

They have a lot of influence, and I though a couple of weeks ago they might well be able to block any further grace period for people to leave. Now, it is unlikely. If they were going to provide no way for people to stay, this needed to be announced by now. I doubt there will be a free amnesty extension. However, providing short extensions on payment of a fee now seems likely. Perhaps, this will be combined with a signed form that states you understand that no further automatic extensions will be forthcoming.
I think the problem is Thai Airways isn’t flying yet. If they kick everyone out before this state owned airline starts to fly, it will be a national embarrassment. Everyone’s return tickets would be worthless and Thailand would just keep their money.
Who would ever fly Thai Airways again if the county that owns the airline kicked you out before you could use your ticket, and then just kept your money?
The press would be awful and it may be the end of Thai Airways.

All countries that get 30 days visa exempt on arrival can apply for one 30 day extension. Not just the US.

They would never make everyone leave before Thai airways starts to fly again in august. No one would ever fly Thai airways again if the country that owns the airline made everyone leave the day before you could use your return ticket.

Nothing keeping anyone from booking single flights, as far as those are affordable for some of us. But, in a nutshell, yes. Logistically infeasible, especially with Covid extra precautions.
My point was that it would be terrible for the reputation of Thai airways and Thailand if they made everyone leave before the state owned airline started to fly.
Who would ever fly Thai airways again if the country that owns the airline would make you leave the day before you could use your return ticket?

It seems impossible that they would make everyone leave by July 31st, the day before state owned Thai airways starts to fly again. Thousands of people could never use their return tickets and Thailand would just keep their money. The press would horrendous.
Just remain calm. They will announce an extension of amnesty or some special paid extension in a few days.

Thanks for your input, but nobody here (i dont think) has stated Tanzania is "covid free".
but personally i do not care 1 bit about the wuflu,
it is NOT a concern for myself
what is fact, is that the president of Tanzania
sent off samples taken from goats and a paw paw
which come back from the lab as positive
He had goat, jackfruit and paw paw tested and then used the fact that those samples tested positive as his “proof” that all corona virus testing is fake and doesn’t work because obviously none of those would actually have the virus. That was his reasoning for stopping all testing in the country and declaring the virus eradicated.
It seems more likely that this was proof his government run lab was incompetent.
He never said you should stop eating any of those, and goat is a quite common staple food there.
Good luck if you want to go to Tanzania now, but everybody else should know the facts about that place.

Be aware that no one believes Tanzania’s claim that they are corona virus free. They likely have a major outbreak and are just ignoring it. Read some of the foreign government travel warnings before deciding to go there. Its not a country I would like to get sick in.

This means amnesty till 26 september?
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Man you are thinking way too much. Remember these articles had quotes translated from Thai into English. I’m sure the Thai word for amnesty is completely different and has nothing to do with the original Greek. A lot gets lost in the rough translations in Bangkok post articles.
