  1. And thats the point its fake news/propaganda no matter where its from or "pretends to be from" I believe the point is made - so will leave it there - Thanks for the chat
  2. I'm not sure about spreading - I gave an example by way of evidence - that was kind of the point of the post. Also, my description of the news story more suggested it was fake. Sorry you read/interpreted otherwise.
  3. I was simply pointing out the pitfalls of so called news stories (n matter the media or platform) and the ease of which propaganda can be be disseminated - The premise of what I was saying still stands... VMT for the link...
  4. I have often thought about this - why would they bomb civilian areas as they would obviously know it would end up in the media. Whilst serving in Afghanistan we were often in contact with the Taliban sniping, shooting, remotely detonating bombs from "built-up areas", with some restraint we often dealt with this by withdrawing and taking into account collateral damage etc. We had clear rules of engagement, different from say our US counterparts, who often simply calling in air support to deal with it. Perhaps thats what the Russian have done - I don't know if these building were being used for military purposes - therefore using any civilians as "Shields" do any of us know for sure? Last year the government of Ukraine was being painted as evil and corrupt by the West now they far from it. As mentioned many times propaganda from all sides hides the truth - There was even a news story recently where there was a line of supposedly dead civilians behind someone being interview - but you could see people moving under the sheets covering them... I'm not on the ground so cant comment on whats going on - But I have been in situations I'd rather forget, and I know there are always two perspectives and the ease of social media can corrupt - Just saying...
  5. I get that. Washington needs to stop the spending immediately.. But which currency could replace the Dollar? The Ruble, the Chinese Yuan? Euro? Japanese Yen? At one time, the Pound Sterling was reserve currency, but it hasn’t faired too badly since Many, including Powell, are already talking about a "basket of currencies" (possibly also including Gold)
  6. I'm guessing your right - With western banks. trust funds etc heavily invested in Russia. They are going to take (have taken) a big hit. Some forecasting EU banks in particular will be affected and the ECB will be nowhere to help. If this happens, the fallout will spread with financial market globally taking a hit.
  7. Good News v's bad news League Table for Tourism: (who is winning) Good News - Necklace found Bad News - Neglected tourist sites/infrastructure Scamming Taxis etc Footballers wife attacked Tourist Assaults/Murder Road Kill Dual Pricing Tourist assault course to enter the country (Then testing etc) Etc....
  8. Seriously?! Have things become so bad, this is the very best they can get excited about?
  9. Thats very interesting - Thank you - Currently "allow" partner/gf (Thai) to copy trade - so may-be just do it the other way around lol lol
  10. Thanks for the replies - Perhaps I should have been a little clearer in my post - I am already trading profitably in FOREX (I think the market quoted 95% of failures is a little high - I suspect it more around 75%). I will be retiring to Thailand in the couple of years (or whenever the world settles down). My principle reason for asking about brokers was in regard to taxation, and as well as general experiences with brokers in SEA? With possible recommendations, if this is the way to go.
  11. Was wondering what you traders do in terms of brokerage? Do you use one in your home country, one in SEA, Australia etc?
  12. "Now that some Covid-19 restrictions have been eased, the team has been able to do more physical engagement work with Thai authorities." Looking at UK Government Press Releases etc - Its clear that the majority of the cabinet (and their followers) have been globetrotting all over the place - despite the above restrictions. Therefore its odd that this has prevented consular staff, in-country, from doing more physical engagement work with the Thai Authorities.
  13. Well if Joe Ferrari can keep some cars - Maybe these guys get to keep some of the drugs? - Odd that all 6 were killed out right.
  14. Funny - when its a foreigner involved, that fact makes the headline title, but when a local, its just referred to as a "man"...
  15. Or as someone noted it above it may have been the RBL i remember reading about ...
  16. Im not sure - But I may have read somewhere (on this forum) about SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmens Families Association) representation here in Thailand - If so, then getting a contact there should help - failing that, then there is the usual .gov (veterans UK) website Armed forces pensions - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) or if your up to it, call the Army personnel Centre direct... Army Personnel Centre - Kentigern House 65 Brown St, Glasgow G2 8E 0141 248 7890
  17. "to conduct a broad array of missions in support of border security as well as anti-smuggling, counternarcotics and anti-human trafficking operations." A drone would be better suited to these roles as they could stay on task for longer, cheaper etc.
  18. Just strikes me that this is something else that could put a genuine tourist off - Can you imagine someone coming to Thailand for their honeymoon - to be told you need two separate rooms for your first night or young unmarried couples etc etc?
  19. My good lady and I need to visit the LOS in Jan through to Feb. So we are currently looking to manoeuvre ourselves through the various hoops (as they currently stand). Just contacted one hotel to enquire about availability and process etc. (The hotel was recommended to us via a friend) They have informed us that as we are not married (although we are in a obvious relationship, live together, travelling together etc) it appears that given this scenario we need to book two separate rooms? As its Government Policy. Can anyone confirm if this is the case, seems a bit odd, but this is what the hotel is saying
  20. Has he now tested POSITIVE? - I guess if he is now "saying" he has symptoms and is being treated form them - He can now claim from his insurance with some confidence... Its one way of making the system work.
  21. Taking this idea further, its no doubt, also to much of an expectation that our glorious embassies would be proactive and offer such advice/suggestions.
  22. Did he not say "He was just doing his Job" - i.e. Extorting monies of people (regardless if they were a criminal element or not - no matter) Thereby enriching himself, his team and no doubt seniors - Only in Thailand can a simple lowly paid official amass such a wealth (have a nickname like his) and no one asks any questions .
