This is political issue and cannot be generalize with thai culture. People who attend this demonstration bring emotional against goverment and can explode anytime. Ofcourse it was wrong what the thai man did. But it was more wrong it you as foreigner challange their action and you forget your daughter was with you as well.

Simply move out from that place and get a cup of coffee in other beautifull place.

I agree with your assessment of the situation, emotions run high at political events, you are welcome to listen but to argue with Thai's over an issue that does not in any way involve you, and let those around you know that is beyond foolish!

I disagree that he was not initially wanted there, as sharecropper pointed out it was a low key gathering with speeches in Englisb. He outstayed his welcome when he insulted the crowd calling them "the dregs of society".  It in no way excuses physical assault but it certainly increases the possibility exponentially.

Where do I say he "Initially" he was not wanted there? in the video it was quite obvious he was not wanted there, then he should have left period!

  3. I lived in Thailand for twenty years and I never forget that I am just but a guest  in Thailand. Looking back at the USA today and the attacks on Asians simply because they are Asians, and many right winger blame them for corona virus. All the century  long racism and wars in Europe.

Do not forget this is Thailand, it was very obvious to me he was not wanted there, he should have just left and nothing would have happened. Instead he chose the "I have every right to be where I want to be" and he paid the price.

Same Same but different. In Italy they just use sea salt. I haven’t died yet.

If you always eat it that way your body is used to the bacteria, like Thai leave their food out all day without fridge and they do not die. I made my smoker  out of a 55 gallon drum Ugly Drum smoker, you can use a galvanized garbage can. look on the internet for plans, my Thai sil buys BBQ good size for 1000 baht, you can buy a pellet smoking tube at LaZada's for cold smoking in a regular BBQ, and a bag of pellets.

While we are discussing Mexican food, folks say tomatillos grow wild in Thailand but my wife has never seen them and I can not find them in any market. Any ideas?

They do grow wild in Thailand they look more like gooseberries small and yellow, grow on the edges of the rice field. Do not look anything like the green tomatillos. The corn paste is Nixtamal Masa from regular sized Thai yellow dent corn. I stopped growing Mexican large white dent corn at home getting up in age. we used the Yellow corn paste (wet Masa Harina) that we regrind in a food processor to make it a finer grind but is hard to make tortllas use it to make tamales. they are not comparable to tortillas made with maseca (Mexican brand shipped to me from Arizona)

  6. Villa does have masa Harina very expensive in less than a pound packages. Maybe twice a year I have old friends in the US send me a care package 3, 2 kilo bags of White Maseca para torillas, 20 lbs. box is about $70. for shipping. (I just do not like Bob's masa harina) Tamales we make with the yellow corn paste from Makro or Villa.

  7. I have resided in a Thai rice growing village for 16 years, most Thai's do not like western foods. Plain and Simple, the young are different they are willing to try it. My MIL eats whole beans without mashing, a thick flour tortillas, and calabasitas (made with zucchinis). After years of my making my home party specialty hot spicy BBQ pork ribs and chicken winglets my old friends will eat those. Like anyone else Thai's love their mothers cooking and the foods, they grew up on. After eating great expensive western ice cream my wife and family prefer the Thai made kind serve on a hotdog bun. My two year old grandson will refuse chocolate candy, but loves breathe mints, TIT !

  8. Anyone not satisfied with their lives in Thailand, should move to their promise land, I have lived in Thailand for 19 years . One of the best choices in my life, great country, great people, liberal laws and I am a guest in Thailand, understanding that I do as the immigration laws requires and abide by the laws of the country, I chose to be a guest in.

Wish those looking for their promise land good luck and godspeed in the fulfillment to their dreams.

  9. ChrisY1 I have 7 avocado trees in my yard, two about 7 years old had some flowers this year, I do not know what kind they are but I have two Hass that are about a year and a half from cutting on root stock. three smaller trees Hass and Booth. I do not know if avocados will fruit in my village. I hope they do, where are you located, not the exact spot but area maybe I will get some avocados this years, hopefully!

  10. Not much money in rice farming these days most of my wife's rice farming family stopped rice farming. My Mil has 23 rai outside of Nakon Sawan which she rents for 40,000 baht a year, down 20,000 baht from a few years ago. But many farmers are renting out their land to the remaining rice farmers, our area gets two rice crops a year. My two stepdaughters graduated from the University and work in banking along with the eldest husband and the other husband is an electrician in a hospital in Nakhon Sawan. Many young villagers are working other jobs not joining the family rice farms.

  11. I have been voting by email for decades, no problems. I get my ballot way in advance of election day, I vote as soon as I get it, my voter registrant office will inform me by email that they received my ballot. I have already received my  Voter Education Guide a week ago, one must vote by email or fax this year because of the virus international mail is not likely to be delivered on time. Only will be a problem to those that wait for the last minute to vote. My state dose not count ballots received after election day, differs according to the states many go by postmark before 11-3-2020.
