A good job has been done up until now, I know that  seems to upset a few of the commentators on here, but Thailand has done a much better job than  most  other countries.

Well unfortunately 1200 KM of frontiers with Myanmar was difficult to contain and that has been costing Thailand 1 year of sacrifice on the Tourism Industry ... with see as this time they are confronting a different beast .

Did the new study say how many inoculated got infected and how many of those died?

Vaccines do not provide 100% protection from getting infected. They do prevent against severe symptoms and death and greatly reduces transmission.

Depands from Vaccine to Vaccine .

For what we are due to know Pfizer and Moderna has a 90% ratio of not getting the virus and a 100 % ratio of not getting hospitalized .

AZ & Sputnik are in the same range .

Covax between 50 and 70% but there isn't enough statistics ....

Can anyone please explain to me how the UK variant is spreading in Thailand when all but essential travel out of the UK has been banned for weeks, and Thailand has draconian measures in place for all those arriving in the country anyway, with certificates saying they are safe to fly and quarantine. If this variant or any other version manages to get through despite all that then we are all in deep trouble. I'd have thought that the only risk was from those coming across the border from Myanmar.

So probably imported from Myanmar wich got it from Bangladesh and India

The UK variant as we know is far more infectious and indeed more deadly. The previous dithering on the outbreak now needs to take a serious turn with head on measures to combat this or face a dark period of severe lockdown later.

I was hearing an interview of a virologist Jhon Campbell wich , if I remember well , says that it is more deadly because the cases are much more than the previous mutation .... well cross fingers .

They are offering what seem to be the 2 most controversial vaccines Astrazeneca and Sinovac.

Good luck to those expats in Phuket.

I take the Astrazeneca . 300 milion vaccinated . Check England . ( I am not British ) How many cases there on how many millions vaccinated  ?

The vaccine  has not been withdrawn from South Africa.  It's South Africa that decide not to use.  very big difference. You misunderstand the information on the Oxford vaccine. There is no information yet on whether it acts to reduce severe illness or death with South Africa variant. So far, only one study indicated that it had little effect against mild disease caused by the variant now spreading in South Africa. More information needed to see next step. The experts say to continue with the vaccine as it is better than nothing. What is certain is that if this type of vaccine  does not work, then similar type from Russia and China will not work either.  The Pfizer and Moderna appear to work.

I do not think ethical to allow private import and sale of vaccine. We must prioritize the  vulnerable and health care workers first. Hiso and generals are lower risk.

And you think you can stop them ????????????

I am shure they already got vaccinated.

  7. Considering what's going on in US and Europe and the 3 Covid mutation,  I would suggest the Governsment to consider sequencing the strains  wich is around Thailand at first , test as many people as possible to get an idea of what % of the population wich is infected and start this massive AZ vaccinations as a real priority , starting in high density populated areas . Just saying ...

Look at last video update from John Campbell !

The government performs the posh dog and pony show of quarantining tourists, in a vain attempt to protect their dream of rebooting the tourism cash cow, while the cheap labor machinery continues to import thousands of workers without so much as a temperature check. Minimum wage? Social insurance? Well, that simply defeats the purpose now doesn't it?

    Exactly .

14 Days quarantine for Tourist's and plenty of testing and COE's placing Tourist Industry in default to protect Thailand from Covid and than thousands of workers imported with just temperature check ....

Exactly.. They still dont seem to get the concept of what a 'free'lancer is.. It isnt someone with an employment contract !!

They just cant get past the control aspects, there has to be a top down employment relationship etc.. Free market competition isnt what they appear comfortable with.

Freelancer's can have multiple contacts with multiple clients as well as none if they do day trading or whatever.

Maybe is the concept Nomads wich seems not to be clear ...

They can move from one day to the other to any suitable country and be in business so they do not need Special Smart Visas as they can be in Vietnam tomorrow and still operate.

    Ciao Beĺli .

  10. Pfizer Vaccination takes 2 shots , first at 25 mln and second , after 3 or 4 weeks at 50 min.

2 weeks after 2nd shot you are vaccinated.

    So I understood.

Not clear yet if during the 5/6 weeks you are contagious or not ?

What about who got Covid 19 already ? Will they be vaccinated ?

How long will vaccinated people be immune to Covid and wich strain ?

Seems a long process to me as most of population might start to get vaccinated in March / April next year ....

To me Covid test negative before boarding and 7 days quarantine should do , or Vaccination Certificate .

    Pretty useless.

People don't tend to travel about with unreduced fever, they take paracetemol and tempo then normal

Not to mention the thermometers are often defective, one can be infectious with COVID with no fever etc etc

It really isn't all that hard to substantially reduce illegal cross border movement for a short time if the political will to do so is there.  The border is long but there are finite number of roads that people reach after crossing and could set up check points etc. on all of these.

Trust me , if it is the same Covid strain there is in Europe , it will go quick as wildfire , as much more virulent than first strain we had from Nov 2019 to March 2020 , wich was imported from Wuhan . Cross fingers ???? instead of borders ....

  12. Well done Girls ... hope you didn't visit your elderly as they will suffer your ignorance .

The explosion of the second wave in Otaly was caused by people going to party around , specially Sardinia , come back home and infected all families and elderly .

Got friends who dyed thanks to this attitude .

Good luck to all of us leaving in Thailand ... hope they keep borders under control ????

  13. Well what about those who got in contact with the girl and are asymptomatic ?

Wouldn't it be wise to test all 110 people close to her ?

People will not do self quarantine and even if they will stay close to families and if they have no symptoms they might infect more people ...

Do not understand the strategies in this j....
