Thai Immigration have been reminding people of the deadline and encouraging them to get things sorted for sometime.

All the "last minute Charlies" leave it and then expect to be treated as the sole applicant that day.

Get real. The lack of intelligence is on those who can't be bothered or kept hoping for more and more extensions of the amnesty.

well at least now we can see what is really behind thai smiles

we should get real and never trust this xenophobic system

    thank you for your "hospitality"

Couldn't agree more. Elsewhere, it is written that Malaysia has extended the amnesty beyond the end of the year. They aren't making anyone - and their money - leave. Quite sensible, really. There is no positive, none at all, in throwing foreigners out under the threat of arrest and possible deportation and blacklisting. Madness. How does it benefit hotels or landlords or shopkeepers or restaurants/cafes etc. How does it benefit anyone at all?

    it called thai xenophobia

It's still the same amnesty, they just extended it every time. Problem with it was that every time they left it to the last minute, threw out a lot of scaremongering (immigration) that you have to leave at X date and in the end they just extended it. Therefore it seems that people expexcted more of the same as nothing has changed border-wise.

Also the Thai government doesn't allow certain extensions to be done inland (NonB - Elite). Another point is that they said all extensions were going to roll after the 26th, but looking at the comments, most people got their extensions rolling on the day that they applied, meaning people are forced to leave it to the last moment.

The most ironic part is that the Thai government is trying to do everything they can to get tourist in, while on the other hand, they are doing everything they can to push these same tourist out.

it is very simple, in their clinical way the government decided  that the once that left running out of money.

Let's get ride of them and bring in next victims

Frankly I blame the foreigners. They have had months to tend to business but elected to wait to the last 5 days. Now taking the opportunity to blame Thai Immigration who graciously extended everyone sight unseen and now blaming Immigration  for their own PPPP !

    Yes foreigners are to blame...

How could we trust thai smiles and end up in this xenophobic country...

Sad to know that thailand is a country of smile only for those deep pockets. Most of the ASQ hotels they offer are between 40000 - 80000 for 14 nights with only one breakfast. Farang who make long stay holiday have money but not prioritize luxus hotel. That money they could use for shopping or good food. I feel sorry for people who are beeing discriminate through this one side regulation.

What is really behind thai smiles

    Let it be known

  7. "If they are foreigners, they cannot board the bus," she said, adding the rule requires all passengers to show an identification card to prove they are Thai.
I telephoned the company's call centre and the female operator just confirmed with a simple "yes". She also said the weird rule applied to all expats who have been living here for decades.
