  1. you have to prove that you need a gun in order to obtain a permission to own it

"To ensure and to protect my own safety, safety of my house, my wife and my children while and where officers are not in their duty" - is it OK to state?

We all know the "safety" level provided by those so-called "officers", "guards" and "securities". Mostly they sleeeeeeping at their positions on their duty time. Shhhhhhhhhh!!!! DND. :)

  2. It is my understanding that if you (legally) own a business there is provision to keep one on the business premises only.

Yes I do (but the business is not about body-guarding or security service or something like that, so noone is required to have any guns\armors). I just thinking to buy that for my own, personally. If there is a legal chance, I meant.

Also I am married to a Thai, if it helps (but I do not like the idea of buying that to my wife's name).Yes, it might be much easier to buy the thing, but these things are better not to be related with girls in any means. Especially Thai girls, you know what I meant. Better keep them totally separated - inclide the name in the permit.

Don't know the ins and outs to that one. Best get a lawyer to put it in writing, then another lawyer to verify that lawyer's opinion then take them both down to the local cop shop and get it confirmed in writing from them.

    Noted. Thanks.

All in all, sounds like you might be opening yourself up to trouble.

Well, it is just an idea, a wish - for now. Of course I may cancel it anytime if it turn to be complicated. We are just discussing the possibility in general. :)

  3. its a really dangerous ground to be on, if your married to a thai your wife can own one but you ilegaly can not even if its in a truck with just you in it your in deep trouble. trust me its really not worth it. :jap:

Mmm.....and what is the problem to own it? Once again, I am talking about the LEGAL ownership. Sure, I'll not go for illegal offers (whose could be easily obtained from the nearest...mmm....boys in the Sois just for 10K baht or something) - but sorry, I no need illegal stuffs like that. I know what it may cost me in the future.

Im talking about buying a brand new, fully legalized one in the fully legal shop, with all the necessary documents and permits. Any possibilities to have one for a foreigner? Im planning to use it at the army's shoting range @Nakhon Nayok (otherwise I got to rent it right there), which is visited often. And also as a "safety's guarantor" in da house (I live outside Bkk in a "developing" area with LOTS of Burma\Cambo low-life workers, thus the place is full of ka-moy's).

  4. Hi folks.

Is it possible for a foreigner\expat to buy\own a gun in Thailand? Oficially, I meant - with all necessary documents, police checks\records etc? I know here in Bkk is a whole street with many shops specialising in selling many kinds of arms, and Thais would easily get any - but is it possible for a foreigner, somehow (but still legally)?

  5. It's gotten so complicated now bidding for government contracts. Whereas you used to have one line to the top with a fixed commission, now there are corrupt cells within the corruption each bidding against each other. So now you're bidding against a group of bidders each linked to influential government individuals. And if you don't have such a lead? Forget about it, you're not even in the race.

If you're lucky, maybe you can get away with 20% out of pocket, but now the average is 30%.

The taxpayers are the real ones to get screwed by this system.

    True.

As a frequent player on some govt tenders, I am facing that monthly. The officials are asking you for 20-30% JUST TO LET your Company's application passed to the draw. No, it is not a guarantee that you'll win - it is just to submit the documents and "it won't be lost" somewhere in between. And yes, it is a full pre-payment in cash (no bank transfers, no credit notes/checks etc). Cash-in now, or you'll be out of the "feeder".

Once again: me myself facing this often. It is one of "not-to-speak" rules while making the business here in TH. Noone in the govt shy to request it, nor hiding of taking it. Just take it or leave it - the choice is yours, if you gonna make some bussiness here.

  6. It was a long time ago but I often wonder - how did Singapore do it? Surely that place was just as corrupt as any other SEA country at one point? Now they are usually in the top 5 of countries with the least corruption...

So I can't imagine how one would ever get rid of corruption so ingrained into everything and every day life - but it's been done before, right?

They enforced the "cross-calls" rule, nationwide. And it is in power until now. Just "call to the officials about your corrupted neighborhood - and get rewarded, and they'll get fired (at least). But hurry up - they are listening to this offer at the same time, and might be calling us about YOU right now". A quicker chicken is the winner - join the Big Race today, Singaporeans!. :)

The problem is solved just within a few years. Now there NOONE dares to pick up any "under-table rewards": one day someone offers "the envelope" to you, next minute he/she calls to "the Office", get rewarded and tomorrow sits in your chair, perhaps. And you gonna have some troubles for the rest of your life (there is a life-long jail sentences in such of cases). Everyone willing to pick the envelope (same as everywhere in the world) - but noone dare to.

Excellent and brilliant. The law is the law.

  7. Public campaigns may be needed to help govt beat corruption

Help?? What kind of help, for gods' sake, do they need from us for more??

They request US to do their part of their direct jobs. Ok, never mind. Where could I get my tax money refunded back to me? What? NOWHERE?? There is nothing left behind after their previous but (surprise!!) unsuccessfull "tries"???

Sorry, than NO extra help. Just do your direct duties PROPERLY, morons - and get paid for the results, not for the "tries". YAWN.

  8. >Crackdown on night venues

    1. A "witch-hunting" for something REAALY SOOO IMPOOOOORTANT to this country, to the safety of locals and to the internal improvements progress, so-called "reconciliation"

    2. Another nail in the tourism's coffin. Sad but true. Hotels are empty (emptiest I ever see for decades), and what we're doing now? Cancelling one more tourist's service, raising thai baht, allow rallies under SOE - and expecting the INCREASE of the arrivals. High-class arrivals, yeah. A dumbest dumberers! A HUB of idiots!!!

    3. They got to find ANOTHER job to those who will be fired from those bars - just to let them survive. Will they care those who lost their jobs? We all know the answer.

    4. The bombs are still exploding on the streets. Daily! Yeah, it is 2nd-priority task to fix it comparing to the night venues.

Im really tired of all of these idioticities......

  9. what about the officials who allowed her to board the Bangkok flight on Saturday night? Vutichai Kampanartsanyakorn, the city-based general manager of Thai Airways, said: “This is surprising.I will look into the matter.

Good answer, Vutichai. You will look into, yeah.... Any doubts??

Anyway, will that help to ALL of your incompetent TH staff around the world to do their job PROPERLY, even such of small things as to check visas prior the boarding???

Welcome to Thailand, Nap. If you'll managed to visit here - you would see MANY and MANY proves of incompetence. Noone cares. YAWN. :jap:

  10. >Iran too, a very safe country.

Yes. A VERY safe. Being at Tehran, you man not worry about killers nor robbers. They are not surviving there for long, generally speaking.

Also, NO prostitutes on the streets (yes, you may still find such of "services" as you've described above - but not THAT much as it is in Pattaya or Harlem or somewhere else. And those are "not accepted" by the society, so all those girls justplacing themselves to a great risk of having their time of catching some nice roadside stones, you know what I mean).

    >Underage girls on death-row can't be executed as long as they are virgins. So what do they do, they temporarily get married with a random prison guard and raped in their cells before execution takes place.

    >We're talking about young girls don't forget, in their teen-age. In Iran girls getting punished from the age of nine years, boys from the age of 16.

"Raped" is not a correct word here.

They come to there exactly for this and make some profit out of this, arent they?

    >In Iran girls getting punished from the age of nine years, boys from the age of 16.

In Thailand, it is even lower in the areas up north.

In India or in China, sometimes they get married on 7-8yo, and all arranged by the parents.

So what? Society has nothing to argue - it is the way they live. Please dont mix social customs along the crimes.

Hey, pals, Im going to bed. Nice to chat'to ya all. :)

  11. >If you're concerned about your tax money you should be the death penalties biggest opponent. Much more expensive than life imprisonment.

I'll buy him a rope, a soap and choose a good high tree by myself.

Oh, no! No thanks!! My pleasure!

PS: saying "execution is expencive" is a speculation. Wanna know? A 20 bullets at the NakhonNayiok's shooting range will cost me 200 baht. The range itself is free, so the guns are. And they even giving you the souvenirs!

Still in doubts? Ask China\Cambo\Burma, they have great experience in the subject.

    >If you're concerned about justice, then there's no way you can have a death penalty as death is final.

The deaths of a 5yr boy+Mamma are not?

    >How many innocents have died?

It is another very serious question.

But THIS one thug is NOT innocent. Back to the topic.

    >How many will die? How many are acceptable? One?

    Noone.

The judge who sentenced an innocent - must hang on his/her tree instead of the "violator".

Thus, it is the case of doing HIS [as a judge] job properly.

    >I am agnostic but I am with Jesus when he said: Thou shalt not kill.

Well, a Jesus's Father (a God) have killed manybody, and not for self-defence (examples? Sodom, Homorrah, Great Arch story etc)

But let's back to the topic.

    >Suit yourself there, but know that you're in league with the jihadists of the world.

Are you an expert in Jihads? Than you shud know that the best, the pure, the "Big Jihad's" meaning. It is "To seek, to face and to challenge the weak's and bad's in yourself". Even the word "jihad" means "a struggle on the way to the Ideal"

Saying "you're in league with the jihadists of the world" - you've made me a compliment. Thank you. :)

PS: please stop watching your TV propaganda now. Shakhids and so-called "jihadists" are NOT muslims and NOT even recognized by. May they rot in hel_l.

    >I am gad the caught the guy.

    +100000

  12. So when Muslims do it and even when kids are involved it's alright and the society cleans itself. Well, well, I let others judge about your misconception.

    Which misconception?

The concept is simple: have a clean society. I really do not care who is doing the dirty job: Police? Good. Judges? Great! Muslims? Well done!! Krishna? Wow, incredible!!

The result to achieve is just one: clean, healthy and safe society.

You wrote what I expected you to be. You're revealing more about yourself than you might want.

I have nothing to hide. Read my posts ans see my position.

.... and for amulet and cross wearing when entering those countries, I have other things on record, even with innocent children involved.

    Me myself is Muslim. :)

Records? Great. Feel free to send me a PM, and we may have a chat.

  13. The simple fact is some minds are not wired correctly.

Some individuals can not process right and wong, as commonly understood by most all human beings.

Only their personal benefit vs personal loss ratio.

A great excuse to kill 5yr boys and their beloved Mama's, isnt, it?

Menthal sick? Ok, it is possible. Shit happens sometimes.

Noone ever knows about it or never noticed the stranges (kindertarten, schools, armies, offices)?? Hardly imagine!!

Detect the illness at its first stages, and act properly (megical treatments, isolations - whatever, Im not a pcichiatrist). Look to the nearest Singapore!!

Letting them go out and do their ugly crimes under such of excuses - it is another crime by itself!

  14. Cheap, subsistence fair will cost little, make them wish every day for more,

but keep living to regret their acts, for as long as it takes to expire naturally.

Small room, limited movement, no sunlight leading to depression, crap food,

no reading, door welded shut, live in your pathetic/apathetic thoughts.

Tough luck, you made your bed, go end your days in it.

    Bye bye.

No, thanks. Just free the living space for those who's deserving it more. For those killed and yet innocent children for example. They could be a better citizend than those thugs [after the rehabilitation].

  15. When a Muslim kills a non Muslim the case doesn't even go to court. So statistically no crime happened.

Read: NO extra job for judges/guards, no extra cells in the jails are occupied, no taxpayers money being wasting. The society cleans itself. Good!

Try to wear a Buddha amulet or a cross when entering these countries and see what happens.

Nothing will happen, FYI, unles you'll not be standing at the middle of the city and scream that ""Buddha is the God! Christ is the God!!"

Buddha is just one of the God's Holy Messengers (but not the God Himself), and well-recognized among muslims with all their respect (together with Jesus, if you're interested). :)

But OK: try to pee to the british flag near the London's tower - and see what will happend? :)

Only one difference: with Muslims, the punisment will reach'ya MUCH faster and MUCH more effective. :)

  16. All countries without capital punishment have lower crime rates. Can you explain?

After you check statistic by yourself.

"Strong-arm" countries to be compared? Ok: Singapore, China, Saudi Arabia.... check their crime level comparing to other. :)

this is not a comparation with value when you're honest with yourself. China, Saudi Arabia and yes, even in Singapore ,the locals live like in Jail for most of their life.

We'd talking about the average crime level - not about jailing.

Someone will prefer to be executed quickly than rot in the cell for the rest of his/her lifes. Especially the ones comitted the "dirty" crimes - raping, killing children, sexual abuse of underages etc etc - their "co-cellers" will take care of them, and it will be much MUCH worse than a clean quick execution.

The subjected creature also comitted a "dirty" crime. He'll have a very cosy times if he get life inprisonment, believe me...

  17. >How can you say that

Yes, I can say that. Im always call a cat - a cat.

    >and think the "Eye for an eye principal" should be applied, without knowing the circumstances behind this case?

    Pls reread the topic header.

Any more questions? Ask the eyewitness.

    >Maybe the offender was sexually abused as a child

Investigate the abuse and hang the abuser high. A common police duties, BTW.

    >or had other adolescent issues when growing up.

So what? A great excuse to kill children, isnt it?

Remember: that child might be YOUR children. What will you say now?

    >If that's the case, I firmly believe that he doesn't deserve to be jailed for the rest of his life, or even worse - to be inhumanely put to death.

Hopefully you'll never be making any laws in the country where I do live the rest of my life.

I need a high, HIGHEST PROTECTION to my children - but not the morality of the weaks, and a thousands of powerless words instead.

Remember: sometimes it is better to make one more citizen, than to change the current abuser.

    >Instead, after being rehabilitated, he should be given another chance.

What a pastoral. Oh no, Im about to cry... :)

    >Of course he should probably be closely monitored if he were to get released

Will ya pay your pocket money for this? Will you personally monitor him\her for a free? And all of those thugs? What? NO? WHY? :)

Or will you offering ME to pay for all rehabilitation schema (which is mostly NOT working) by my tax money? No, thanks - me myself have different idea about those thugs.

Or will you offering this to someone else here? To who, and what is his/her opinion about your offer? :)

    >I'd be all for it in giving this poor guy a second chance, if there were extenuating circumstances.

    No.

If you do it even once - than EVERYONE of'em will be hoping for a second chance (means "kill one child - and get released and forgiven", which will simply DOUBLE the crimes in the area).

What? NO? "This VIP opportunity will be given to the selected ones, who'd abused while being a kid"? Than it will be a "double standarts!" shoutings, and you'll have nothing to answer.

    >C'mon people - Have a heart.

    No.

Im not a heart-driven for so long, sorry. We are not talking about the buties of our wifes, but about the safety of our children. Heart? No, thanks. I prefer the strong arm on those bastards.

    >Why be like a murderer and say that this guy should die???

Are you really see no difference between "the murder" and "the act of justice"? Than this will be your homework for today, kiddo. :)

  18. I can't believe how unforgiving and ruthless some of the previous posts are. While it's terrible with what has happened to the victim, Thailand should also think about rehabilitation.

Creatures like that one are usually hard to rehabilitate. Almost no chance - they simply CANNOT stand away from their own wild. Once tried and being forgiven, they will easily offend more and more - right after they learn that the punishment is NOT a punishment. This is the way to become a smart, hidden, experienced and highly dangerous recidivist.

All we can do here effectively - is to prevent such of future cases by showing NO tolerance since the beginning. Here I'll repeat once more: in such of cases, "an eye for an eye" rule must be applied. I'll be first to vote for that.

  19. I feel safer here in Bangkok than I would in any major city in Europe or America.

    Yup. I meant that.

Not saying that my wallet is safer too of course.

Being here for decades, me myself have zero experience of being robbed. A small "social cheating" (while bargaining on the market or "Sorry mista I got no change!!") in the taxis, but nothing more than just that.

Of course if I'll be walking in the night with the fists full of cash (as someone mentioned above - the girl has 200.000 along with her, may I ask - "What the way the driver knows this in advance??"), so the poor locals will be directly provocated and this all may end with some troubles, thus.... I am just too smart not to do so, and staying out of troubles for years. And this applies to ALL countries - just use your brain the way it is created for. Yep, Thais are hardly thinking and planning their actions 2-3 steps ahead from now - but it is NOT an excuse for the murderer.

May everyone here staying safe too.

  20. All countries without capital punishment have lower crime rates. Can you explain?

After you check statistic by yourself.

"Strong-arm" countries to be compared? Ok: Singapore, China, Saudi Arabia.... check their crime level comparing to other. :)

I did exacly that already many years ago and if you compare apples with apples and oranges with oranges (not developed countries with developing and under-developed countries...), then the "statistics" that countries without corporal punishment have lower crime rates fail miserably.

You did not mention the names of those "apples and oranges", BTW.

Visiting those 3 samples given above, I am 99% SAFE while walking alone in the night. Even walking in Bangkok's night, I will be safe in most and most cases - I am doing this often.

Frankly speakin' it is not applied to Pattaya anymore, but Pattaya is NOT a Thai city - it is "a farang's land", where all the crime coming from. Yes, not safe there anymore.

Visiting, mmm....USA, UK, Nigeria, Montenegro - I am not safe at all (and have some "nice" experience, already).

    Simple as an apple. :)
