  1. I fully understand the 10 day quarantine and insurance, but I don't understand why the insurance has to be so high AND such a high amount of money. No sane person has 21k CAD just 'laying in the bank for 6 months'. I understand the cost of a hotel, plane ticket, food, buying stuff (plus emergencies), etc, but no way can anyone spend $21k CAD over a period of a month or two unless they buy a vehicle.

  2. Lots of legit, non-criminals want into the country. I personally want to go to find work and make a living. I have no reason to break the law, but fully understand that the law seems unclear or 'mixed up' when it comes to specific laws and/or translation. Laws are there in place for a reason, but I certainly do not want to spend travel pay + $4000 or more CAD just to find work. I am certainly not middle class so options seem VERY limited.

  3. It would take me a half a year or more of work to even come up with those funds, that's not even including the spent money to eat and go to/ from work.

    Absolutely insane requirements.

Is this for 'all' tourists, or just from certain areas? I am Canadian so not sure what the visa requirements (if its even required?) are if I wanted to stay there for 30 days.

  4. I was wondering if anyone has updated law for non-immigrant O to work visa's or knows where I can find that information?

From my understanding, I can apply to a non-immigrant O visa and then apply for a work visa if I marry a Thai national? (as long as I don't work in a prohibited occupation?

Once I get a work permit, I can apply to jobs/hand out resumes in Thailand?

    Thank you in advance.

  5. Can anyone dumb down the qualifications/requirements to become an English teacher in Thailand?

My first (and only) language is English.

I have 2 diplomas: One is security based and the other being developmental service worker. I don't think either of these have any 'weight' when it comes to teaching English, but I do qualify for a teachers assistant position where I am from (Canada). DSW is working with people with dual diagnosis (schizophrenia, ADHD, anxiety disorders, OCD, etc).

    Thank you in advance.

  6. @Sheryl or anyone else for that matter:

I have 2 diplomas (Canadian), one being security related and one being developmental service worker (working with people with dual diagnosis). Would DSW have any 'job titles' I could apply for in Thailand, or would I be SOL when it comes to working in Thailand with only a diploma?

Also: Can I find a job in Thailand as an English teacher without a degree (If I take tesol or tefl)? It just seems like there re so many different answers.
