So we went there today to apply for the 60-day covid extension.

The gentleman at the info counter advised us to come back in the last week of november because, if we had applied today we would have "lost two weeks". He said that we would then receive an under consideration stamp to come back after seven days to get the 60 day extension.

He also mentioned that it is very important that our host registered us in the TM30 database.

To me it sounded like getting the extension should not be a big problem.

The required documents are as stated by OP plus an affidavit that you get at the immigration office.

Thanks for the report @FizziBublech! In which case no point going tomorrow. Will wait till the last week of November.

  2. There's been practically no mention of Phuket Immigration in this forum. I've never been to Phuket Immigration before so assuming no news is good news. Planning to go later this week to apply for 60-day extension based on COVID. Currently on visa exempt permitted to stay till Nov 30 from MTT.

Correct me if I'm wrong, for Phuket I/O:

    Appointment needed - No

Paperwork required - TM7 to fill out + whatever forms/affidavits they give you. Copies of personal data page of passport, entry stamp, current permission to stay stamp, TM6, photos.
TM30 - Hotel has/should have filed report for me so no need to do anything? Do I need some evidence from the hotel?

Embassy letter - not needed. Is the old one any good? I got one dated Sep 23, already used in extension to Nov 30.

    Fee - 1900B
Office hours - 8:30 - 4pm with lunch break? Will be going to main office in Phuket Town.

Anything else I should know about Phuket Immigration?

    Many thanks in advance!

MTT has been doing he new 60 day extension.

Perhaps best to go back tomorrow when it is a normal working day but be sure you make an appointment for MTT.

As far as I know the 60 day extension is not restricted to only visa exempt or tourist visa entries. I can be applied for with any permit to stay.

@ubonjoe As far as you know, can I apply for the 60 day extension in Phuket? I'm now in Phuket. Got extended to Nov 30 at MTT previously on visa exempt entry.

Long story short, they simply give you a queue card and take your passport, then you wait to get your passport back. No other interaction necessary. This whole process from picking up queue card to picking up passport with stamp took one hour and 15 minutes, just to get the passport stamped, plus the one hour 45 minutes waiting before that.

All in all, time spent in MTT waiting and queuing, from 11:45 to 2:45PM, 3 hours! Getting there 1.5 hrs, getting back was a nightmare, taxi from Impact to Wat Phra Si Marathat BTS took an hour and a half and cost 150B! Then train, another 45 minutes. Horrendous traffic jam on the main road (my bad for spending time at the Cosmo Mall). Took the whole day just to get a stamp.

Forgot to mention that I got the Nov 30 stamp. There were still many people standing in line to get into the tent as I was leaving at 2:45PM. I seriously doubt if they all got attended to in the remaining office hours that day. Thursday Oct 22 was also the day before a public holiday, that's probably why MTT was especially busy.

Note to self for future trips to MTT, get there early, take taxi all the way - I always used to do that.

I will be in Phuket for the next extension so will use Phuket Immigration next time.

I went today to MTT (counter K), I didnt make an appointment either. The lady at the marquee outside would not let me through and told me to book online and to come back tomorrow.

I walked away, waited 5 mins then walked through down the side no problem then straight up to left hand side and to one of the desks, they pointed me to the actual entrance (I entered via the exit) and the lady just gave me a queue number there and then and took my passport.

10 mins later I got it back with nov 30 stamp. So in and out in less than 30 mins, result!

I'm glad I didnt leave, book online and then return tomorrow, what a waste of time.

Good for you @Adam219 and thanks for the report! Smart, street-wise move! I wish I read your post before I went on Thursday, the next day - I was too busy travelling to Bangkok on Wednesday and didn't check in here.

I had an online appointment and saw others being turned away for not having an online appointment. Took BTS from central Bangkok to end of line Wat Phra Si Marathat, then taxi to MTT, whole trip took 1.5 hrs. Should have taken a taxi all the way, would have been quicker when time is of the essence. Got there at 11:45, just before the lunch break - big mistake on my part to show up so late. They did take a one hour lunch break this time (they didn't just before the Sep 26 rush). I ended up having to wait in the tent by the entrance for an hour 15 minutes before being ushered upstairs for more queuing at 1PM. I was very tempted to sneak in the main hall on arrival but did not know that they were giving out queue cards at the entrance of the main hall.

But we also had a nice short break while in Bangkok.

Thanks for all the replies. I was going to ask them whether or not I can get the date of my regular tourist visa extension, which expires on 26 October, changed to 30 November at MTT but they clearly wouldn't have a clue so I'll have to get a taxi all the way there instead.

BTS train goes all the way to Wat Phra Si Mahathat (end of line), you can take a taxi from there to MTT.

  7. This is a poll and a hub for info. Please let us know what outcome you got for your "Under consideration" situation at MTT (Muong Thong Thani) if you've been back to MTT to get your passport stamped after applying for a 30 day extension based on Covid.

Please answer a few quick questions:

    1. Did you get stamped to Nov 30?
    2. Did you just show up with your passport and appointment booking? Is there any other paperwork required?

    3. Was it quick, straight forward and painless?

    4. Did you show up on the exact date in the "Under consideration" stamp, or before or after?

Assuming that you applied before September 26, if you didn't, please say so.

If your local immigration is another office and you want to chime in, please feel free but be sure to mention which I/O office clearly.

Many thanks in advance for contributing info ????. I'm not due to go back till next week and will report back then.

Let me be clear. Pattaya IO, September 17. Submitted all the required documents including 'letter of support' from my Embassy. Paid 1900 Baht. Got stamp 'Application of stay is under consideration.....must contact this office again on 07 OCT 2020'. And was told 'when you come on Oct.7 you will get visa extension until end of October'. So today I went to the IO. Half empty, gave my passport and 10 minutes later she gives me back my passport with..... another...."under consideration....must contact this office again on 03 NOV 2020". And  she says 'when you come next time you will get a new stamp with 30 of November stamp'.   Just a sick joke, what they do!

Sorry to hear that. Is this just Pattaya IO being awkward? I've read 2 reports so far of people getting the Nov 30 stamp from MTT with no fuss.

I just asked the same question at the office in Patong.  The officer there told me to ask in Phuket Town because they might be able to transfer the extension.  Maybe worth a try if you're nearby.

Thanks! I'm a long ways from Phuket Town so will await other reports on this. The taxi mafia in Phuket makes it v. expensive to get around. Please do keep us posted if you will be there soon. I'm not due to go back to BKK for another 2 weeks.

You have to go back to MTT to get the final stamp.

There have been reports of people who went back and got a stamp until 30th November.

The reason why I asked is that I hear talk in other threads of people advising others to go to a different I/O office for this and that. I was under the impression that you can go to your new "local" office once you've "moved".

The other concern is that I may have to keep going back to MTT to extend every 60 days when I no longer live in Bangkok which can be a bother.

So I welcome a diversity of opinions on this based on your experience.

very unfair - i paid the same amount and i actually had an embassy letter with me too.

I was in the same situation at MTT. I left the "Reason" in the TM7 form blank so I could put in either "tourism" or "Covid" hoping that I would get a clean stamp to October 26 but the I/O filled in Covid for me. They would not have processed my extension without the embassy letter anyway so that settled all the agonizing between options.

  12. I got my original Under Consideration stamp from Muong Thong Thani (MTT) with embassy letter with a date of Oct 22. I left for Phuket shortly after taking care of the extension. Can I get my stamp from Phuket Immigration or do I have to go back to MTT? It would be nice to save a trip to BKK now that I'm in Phuket.

Are we now getting confirmed reports that those who applied before September 26 with embassy letter and received "Under Consideration" stamps now get stamped to November 30th when presenting themselves for the stamp?

So are they not going to be issuing these letters after the amnesty? I got a regular extension up to 26 October and was hoping to go for a Covid-19 extension after that.

How did you manage to get a regular extension without letter? Which office gave it to you? Not an option in Bangkok/MTT.
