  1. Hello everyone,

Lets say I want to transfer an existing auto finance to my name and will that be a new contract from the bank/finance company or just same contract and I simply continue the remaining installments then vehicle be under my name.

Is it possible the bank/leasing company deny the transfer request without doing a new agreement?
Anyone gone through such a procedure before? (I cant pay the full amount and take over the vehicle since my friend had paid only 15 installments. I just want to pay the remaining installments under my name)

And also I heard about the requirement of first class insurance by the bank to transfer a ownership, since car which am willing to buy from my friend is already having first class insurance which is just 3 months old. So is that possible to use the existing insurance (Roojai) instead of buying expensive first class insurance from bank?

    Please guide me through this.

OK, my secretary has been speaking with Toyota Finance and this is what they offer.

They have no problem in me taking over the finance agreement from my ex. The admin fee is about 4,000 baht as previously stated by other posters.

But because my ex has been a bad payer each month, they want me to pay the missing payment, (actually only 1 month) AND also pay 2 more months upfront when I sign the transfer papers. These 2 months of payment will be taken off the last 2 months of the finance deal. That seems reasonable in light of her previous payment problems.

But they also insist that I have Class 1 insurance - about 17,000 baht a year. I have just taken out a class 2 insurance (7,500 baht). My secretary tells me that these insurance companies do not allow an upgrade from class 2 to class 1 - I will have to pay 100% of the class 1 fee!

Does anyone know if that is true re upgrading from class 2 to class 1??

Finally, there were no requirements re work permit, visa etc. Since they had experienced so many problems from the ex lying to them 'I pay already' etc), Toyota Finance were happy to transfer the agreement to any living person (maybe dead would also be ok), so long as they paid the 2 months upfront and had class 1 insurance....

An existing vehicle finance can be transfered to another person or company, and the finance company normally charges 4-5k to do so. The finance company remains the owner of the vehicle, but the registered user in the reg book is replaced by the new user. When payments are completed, the vehicles book is transferd to the last registered user as owner.

Its not a new agreement, its another user/borrower in existing agreement.

A new agreement would involve 7% vat on the vehicle purchase, and much higher interest. Secondhand finance.

I know this is a very old post but I would like to know some more information about the procedure.

  4. Hey,

I would like to know that how can I transfer my friend's SCB bank financed car to my name. Its a 72 months auto finance and still only paid 14 months without any delay. Since my friend who is not thai has to back to his country for an emergency matter, he asked me to continue the lease since he might not be able to back or pay the rest of money.
Can someone explain me the procedure of this and how much will it be cost. And also his thai guarantor for this finance is ok to be my guarantor as well. Does she need to submit documents again to the bank or just a confirmation call from her will do the job?

    Thank you.

I'd say about 1000 baht for 500 GB, as 1TB drives are barely more than that.

    https://www.bnn.in.th/hardware-diy/internal-harddrive/harddrive-for-notebook.html

Recovery... that would depend on what's died. It will certainly be more expensive than the drive. If drive is still readable somehow just can't boot, then it'll be easy - something like R-Studio software can copy the data out of it fairly well, or sometimes it's enough just to plug it into 200 baht SATA-to-USB adapter and copy stuff off. If it's something more serious though... you may need to find the identical model of hard drive to swap the boards (if it's board problem), but that doesn't guarantee you'd be able to retrieve anything, especially if drive is bitlocker encrypted. Then the option could be optical retrieval of data, but that costs 100s of thousands of dollars so you'd need to have something really valuable on the disk to try it.

So new drive for 1000 baht or so. Another external drive for a little more. Set up second drive as a backup and start making those in case your primary drive dies again.

in that case its very cheap and i would go for a 1TB. btw which brand i should go for? is there any specific model for acer or i just can go with any brand?
and how can I know its a good hdd? any benchmark?

You really should consider an SSD. My 6 year old laptop has a new lease on life after adding an SSD. You can always pull it and use it in any newer laptop when you get a replacement

how much did it cost for you? i really not looking to bring it to an exceptional level since i have already bought a new notebook so i dont wanna waste much money on this old one.

  7. Hey.

My 6 years old notebook went blackout last night without giving any clue. I was trying to restart it several times and no bootable device error occurs right after Acer logo. I think its time to replace hdd since its a very old one. I would like to know how much does it cost for a new 500GB hdd. (I dont want SSD or any super power things????
I am also looking for a method to recover my lost data on this old hdd. will that be possible?

    Thank you

No, u can work every job you want, even if immigration often claims otherwise, and if you work you should also have a tax id.

Tax id has nothing to do with your job, you pay taxes on a plethora of things like investments, rental income etc besides income taxes.

Obviously US stocks would be what i would buy, def nothing thai related. I wouldn't trade tho, only buy ETFs like QQQ (Nasdaq 100) or VOOG (Vanguard growth SP500 fund)...

Thank you very much for your feedback.
Have a you ever open an online trading account here (not Thai)? I would like to know what broker would be most suitable and convenient?
and will there be any issue when funding using Thai bank account?

  9. Hey guys,

Can anyone explain me the requirement of Tax ID for opening any international broker account in Thailand?

I am a WP holder in Thailand and as far as my knowledge, WP holders can't directly involve in any other kind of business other than job mentioned in the work permit. Am I correct?
So my concern is, if I give my tax id to any of above mentioned brokers will there be any legal issue? Does it consider as another business?
Anyone with a WP has ever opened an international broker account from Thailand? I mean online.

I would also like to know your opinions about what is the most beneficial trading international stocks or Thai stocks when consider about the commission that we have to pay on every trade?

    Thank You.
