I have largly come to terms with the driving stuff. The thing that annoys me now are the waiting times at the land office and such.

My wife completed her biometrics on March 3rd. It was her first application for a visit visa. I still have not heard anything, nothing at all. We had planned to visit my parents in Scotland but I gave up on that idea several weeks ago, instead my parents arrive in Thailand next week.
I didn't pay the £2.** for an update because I heard they are pointless. My wife is a teacher and she gets another holiday in October so, if she gets the visa, we will visit Scotland at that time.
I feel pretty dissapointed with the home office, but at the same time I think the Ukranian people deserve priority.
We have waited 8 weeks already and I fully expect to wait another month or so.

Did Joe arrange for the cars to be stolen, transported into Thailand, seized, sold and distribute the profits? The whole thing is very complicated. Where did he get the time? Maybe all of his time is spent planning criminal activity which is quite funny really.
On another note I had to pay 300 baht for an expired tax disc. It was the wife's car. Do the police also get a % of traffic fines?

No wonder Ferarri Jo has a gleam in his eye.

The excuses are so infantile. In the toilet, lol, what a load of <deleted>. He got wasted on duty, end of story.

Wow that's great news. I hope I don't misspell anything whilst rainbow surfing on my invisible unicorn.

So why don't u get evidence and have him prosecuted? It is the "do nothings" that perpetuates corruption. Either that or stop whining.
I wasn't expecting it. It only happened once to me and now I avoid going there. I found out afterwards that it is commonplace there.

Most Thais in public office dream of getting a huge, life-changing bribe. It is the reason that many people have for working in a police or government post. To ask them to prosecute someone for that very thing must feel wrong. For many bribes (extortion) is their main source of income.
I know an immigration officer in Buriram who extorts everyone. He only got 2000 from me but a very wealthy friend of mine got stung for 15,000. The officer determines the size of the bung from your bank statement, which he always examines at the start of the application. Doesn't matter if your application is perfectly sound.
I have decided not to get upset by these stories of corruption and just laugh them off. I don't want to have any dealings with the police or government here because I am afraid they will extort me. It is definitely a downside of life in Thailand but I still prefer living here more than the UK.

The police are all in agreement, asking for a wee lubricator is not the issue. There will be a nationwide manhunt for the trouble maker who leaked the video, the real criminal in this case.

Wife said he was also involved in some sort of online gambling business. The guy hasn't earned an honest baht in his life.
Surely there wil be an investigation and he would have to show proof of earnings to explain his massive wealth. Lol, or maybe not.
I am sure he will cut a deal with the victim's family and the court. Might even have to sell one of his sports cars.
I am going to bet he stays employed by the police force although he might be moved from his current post.

Is this his father-in-law? Is he the one worth over $100 million USD ?
The wife thinks it is.

He might be worth 15 million dollars but his boss is worth over 100 million dollars. The police force can be a very lucrative career. You do have to pay massive amounts for promotions and high level positions. It seems to work more like an organised crime syndicate rather than a police force. I doubt he will do any time and he will have a nice nest egg built on murder, theft and corruption. What a life!
That is just the way of it here. It won't ever change.

Apparently his boss is worth about 2000,000,000 Baht. Let's be honest, it is not a police force really, it is a criminal gang.
He can't be sent to jail for lying unfortunately or he would get a life sentence.

The government have set themselves a massive task here and I am fairly certain these targets wil be forgotten about quite soon.
Thailand already have laws to protect drivers but they are not enforced. It would be impossible try and enforce all the laws together so they should focus on enforcing them one-by-one.
I think they should start with enforcing minimum age law for motorcyclists. A 10 year old boy, who was a friend of my wife's son, died last week. No helmet worn (obviously) and the driver who hit him never stopped to check (obviously).

The Generals will probably get promoted to "Supreme Emporas" and the case will be dropped because "nobody know nothing". Boss will return after the warrent has expired and will be given a heroes welcome.

Balls. He had to share it with the person awarding it. Usual bull.

I get the undertaking if a slow driver is occupying the right lane as I do that myself on occassion. The weaving in and out at high speed, as if playing a computer game, is nuts though. 400 or 500 baht. I think what most people don't understand that a licence is a contract that gives you permission to drive a vehicle in accordance with the highway code. Alot of drivers seem to think it is their god given right. Massive fines should be given for lunacy.
Maybe their should be a new law which states all cars must have gps so speeding can be automatically detected. There could a law insisting on front and rear dashcams so the police can observe footage to apportion blame when an accident occurs. They could franchise out speed cameras to villages and towns and share the profits with the local community. There is loads of stuff the government could do but it would fly in the face of the only unwritten Thai law that matters, which is, "I do what I want when I want.".

Why do the government make these pointless updates? Total waste of time. 200% sure nothing will change. Thailand will still top Asia's road death charts for years to come.

I lent 10,000 baht to my wife's brother. I will never get it back. Any time I give him a gift for christmas or whatever he sells it. He is pleasant enough to socialise with but I cannot trust him.
A problem I have right now is my wife's farm chanot. It is still in her dead grandfather's name. This is very common here and results in a lot of land disputes.
The land was shared with his 3 daughters, one of whom is still alive. My wife's mother is dead. We recently got a new chanot made because my wife's Aunty gave the chanot to my wife's brother in exchange for a backhander of 20,000 baht. He then took the chanot to an illegal money lender and borrowed as much as he could.
Currently my wife's uncle is attempting a land-grab as he is the oldest living decendent of the grandfather.
I could go on, but here is the jist.
DON'T TRUST YOUR WIFE'S THAI FAMILY WITH MONEY OR POWER IN ANY WAY. GIVE THEM MONEY AS A GIFT IF YOU WANT BUT DON'T EXPECT ANY LOAN TO BE REPAID WITHOUT LEVERAGE. NEVER TRUST THEM TO BE FAIR WHEN THE ARE PUT IN A LEADERSHIP/GUARDIANSHIP POSITION.
My wife's family are fun to socialise with but that where it ends.

There’s a lady on my soi who feeds the local strays 2 times per day. So, obviously they congregate. My main concern isn’t getting attacked so much as they’re really not aggressive, quite the opposite in fact.
It’s just that the soi is a doggy minefield morning and night. Combined with a lack of street lighting and it gets messy sometimes.
Yes. Crowded.

2 of my 3 bitches are on their period right now. The neighbourhood dogs are a constantly trying to get in to my garden to screw them and their have been many "who is the boss" brawls outside my gate. Just too many dogs. Mostly they are <deleted> scared of humans if you shout at them or stamp your feet. A noise deterent is probably best if a pack are harassing you.

I am applying for a marriage visa this week. My boy is 9 months and I am hoping everything goes smoothly. Looks like there are plenty of flights but lots are cancelled so research needed. (From UK)
