Not only is the ban on alcohol sales before 11 AM and between 2 - 5 PM totally ridiculous, it makes absolutely no sense.

At those times my local 7-11 cannot sell alcohol but I can go into the bar next door and buy a beer at twice the price!

If alcohol sales are banned why are bars allowed to sell it at these times?

They are not, you probably are staying in a tourist <deleted>hole so bars don't care. At 7-11 they have their job to lose

What permission of stay do you have in Thailand.

Do you intend to deal with immigration.

For example apply for extension etc ?

    - I have an elite visa (still need to do 90-day)

    - Staying in Thalang, Phuket now

    - I intend to go to the Thalang Immigration at BlueTree, which is mostly empty and looks chill AF ...because I could drop the passport to their agent in phuket for free who would do the 90-day reporting for me, but I would need to drive twice (0.5h there, 0.5h back) to Phuket Town with the motorbike (Traffic and Russians everywhere make this trip a nightmare)

Here is the cute little immigration office at BlueTree (photo from a few days ago), 5 people waiting outside, no biggie ????????

Unless you are doing the 90 day report where you did your previous report or extension of stay you will have to formally change your address to the hotel where you staying.

Sorry for not giving more detail...

    - This is my first 90-day report (since arriving after European Summer in early November)

    - I stayed x days in Bangkok until December (Hotel, they did TM30)

    - December arrived in Phuket (Hotel did TM30)

    - Now traveling around (no TM30 anywhere)

Question: Can I use the TM30 reporting of the hotel in Phuket?

  4. Hi

Short story: I stayed at a hotel in 2022 December 17-23 and after (now) am just driving around with my girlfriend's car staying at homestays / random hotels enjoying life. Most of these places do not report my TM30 (reporting of foreigner)

Question: Can I do the 90-day reporting (coming up week of February 1), indicating the hotel I stayed at in December ? (They did do my TM30 and I wonder if that "expires" / aka has an expiry date on it)

(If the TM30 using old hotel is not possible), Question: Does 1 night of checking into any establishment that does the TM30 for me suffice?

    Cheers

Also, here is a picture of life, because why look at just a boring post of mine without any fun...

  5. Looking to try Vietnam (have seen Thailand now a bunch). I am in my thirties, tourist (no work visa).

How easily can I open a bank account in vietnam? (Needs the same standards as TH, i.e. online banking, phone-app to pay / scan payment codes at street vendors)

      - What branch do you recommend?

       - Is cash as irrelevant as Thailand? (Everyone pays with their phone here)

(Appologies, this for sure has been asked before but this forum's search is horrid????????)

No need for a baseball bat.

Also no match for a mad fighting dog.

Heaven helps if such a mistreated beast escapes the cage.

Happened once to me walking the dogs.

Almost killed my dogs. Didn't go after me.

I broke a big bamboo stick on them to no avail.

The proud owner was a teacher :saai:

    Stray/Soi dogs:

If you really scared have a thin long stick.

And never run/accelerate/try to "flee" (impossible anyway).

Just the opposite: stop and turn to them.

A bit of shouting and waiving the stick helps.

Never experienced a stray dog that would not shy away.

BTW would you tell what beach you are walking?

    Appreciated!

beach: hat bang sak, where outrigger khao lak is.

pack of 3 dogs, then 4 ...absolute aholes those

An alternative option you could consider. Rather than going to Aussie you could go to USA and sort out your visa from there. The flights to USA are much cheaper than going to Aussie, you wouldn't have to quarantine (as you would on arrival in Aussie) and you could get vaccinated there too whilst you are at it (if you are not already vaccinated). If you have nowhere to stay in Aussie you would be no worse off. Some of those more knowledgeable than me about visas on here would be better able to guide you through the visa types/processes. Just a thought.

Last time I checked only US-Passport holders (or relatives) may enter the USA !?

    I think I can.

As Thailand is a Buddhist country ...

    Much appreciated!

i am mainly annoyed at the fact that I had to transport and smuggle an extra baggage full of red wine bottles into my ASQ hotel.

( also cannot shop big quantities when I happen to be in the supermarket at 14:01)
