I stated "obscure option" meaning it certainly wouldn't be a common suggestion.
The taxi to Nong Khai is from airport. However cheaper option would be by minivan.
Previously I would fly most often with AirAsia from DMK.
That airline not necessarily the cheapest now.
Mini vans run from central plaza and sometimes from airport.
It's one hour and a straight flat drive.
As for bar area if you Google "Top Mansion hotel" that is located in the bar street. Many good cheap hotels there..
There is one set of bars known as "Day Night" same street.
Thanks for the clarification Dr Jack. One last question. Once the re-entry is done; you can pre-arrange the transportation back to hotel or simply take a taxi waiting around?

Most folk apply for extension couple of weeks prior to expiry on stamp.
Can be done up till expiry date but not good idea.
You require a TM7 form with photo.
Most likely also a TM30.
Your choice of border bounce from Bangkok is also down to personal preference.
Personally I don't like vans and buses.
One obscure option would be flight to Udon Thani (cheap) and one hour (straight road) to Nong Khai.
That is a good crossing.
I also like to stay at Udon Thani bar area (cheap accom) but all that is just personal choice.
Thank you Dr Jack for your response. Can you clarify obscure reason?
Secondly, travelling to Nong Khao by taxi?
Where is the Udon Thani bar area ? I would not mind staying a few days to explore.

Your first entry via air visa exempt gives you 45 + extension+ border bounce visa exempt is another 45 + extension.
Equal 5 months and only one border bounce.
Leaves you with option for longer stay if required.
I arrived October 14, I intend to extend for 30 days, then do a border run.
First question, when can I go regarding the extension, after how many weeks? Do you have link to download the forms ?
Second, since it was more difficult to do a border bounce from Hua Hin, I intend to be in BKK, which option would be the simplest and the most sure to be a successful re-entry?
Time/money is not the issue, assuring re-entry is.thanks in advance for your help.

Won't work. You will need a dual set of fingerprints these days....
True regarding the finger print, however, there is nothing wrong with using a different passport when you have dual citizenship.

That will not work.
Immigration can check their database and do a search using your name to find you previous history and link your new passport to it.
What if you have dual citizenship ?

2 x 45 day visa exempt entries and 1x 30 day extension will give you 120 days, stay a couple of days in the nearby country where you do the border bounce and your good to go. you may need a flight out with 30 days of arrival to keep airline happy. a night in a hotel that will do a tm30 registration to keep immigration happy for the extension.
I intend to do the same except 5-6 months. It is better to do multiple visa exempt entries (3X45) and one 30 days extension or or 2 times (45+30)?
i don’t mind spending 3-4 days in a nearby country prior to re-enter Thailand.

Unless Myanmar opens soon the nearest would be Cambodia or Malaysia (train from Hua Hin to the border).
Thanks Ubonjoe, if I would do a border run and stay one night. Because I have dual citizenship; would it be easier to re-enter Thailand on a different passport?

It should be 45 days but the airlines may not be aware that it was changed to 45 days. Best to get a temporary onward ticket within 30 days for about $14 online.
Can you provide the website for the onward ticket at $14?

Normal is that you can do it about 2 weeks before the 45 days end.
Thanks Ubonjoe

The 45 day visa exempt entries start on October 1st and they can be extended for 30 days at immigration.
Thank you Ubonjoe, but I was asking how far into the 45 days can I go to the immigration office to extend by 30 days?

Thank you Ubonjoe. It is preferable to stay a few days into the neighboring country ? Before returning to Thailand ?

It sounds like you will not enter on a tourist visa (which has to be gotten in advance) but rather visa exempt. Two very different things.
If you actually get a Tourist visa you will be stamped in for 60 days and csn extend another 30 for 90 in total.
If you enter visa exempt in October you will get 45 days and can extend another 30 for 75 days total. Note that coming without a visa, the airline may require proof of onward ticket within 45 days of arrival. They won't if you have a visa.
How long on total do you want to stay?
I would like to stay 5-6 months.

Entry on a tourist visa will still give you 60 days. A visa-on-arrival currently only gives you a 15-day stay, though this is expected to increase to 30 days. Are you referring to a visa exemption? That currently gives a 30-day permission to stay which is expected to increase to 45 days (and can also be extended by a further 30 days at Immigration in Thailand).
In principle, you can do a border bounce for a visa exempt entry without needing to spend time out of Thailand. However, at airports, you risk being denied entry if, in the judgment of the officials, you are using visa exemption to stay longer than is compatible with regular tourism. The risk of this occurring depends on the length of time you have spent in Thailand over the last six to 12 months.
Your safest approach would be to do a border bounce by land (assuming you have not already used two visa exemptions by land in 2022). This is safe at most land borders, the main exception being the rogue entry point at Poipet/Aranyaprathet from Cambodia.
Thank you for your explanation, as I intend to be in Hua Hin, which land border would you recommend as being the easiest/safest to allow re-entry ?

No.
With the 45 days exempt visa upon arrival, it can be renewed for 30 days?
if affirmative, how long into the 45 days can you apply for the 30 extension ?

All requirements were dropped Aug 1.
I will enter Thailand mid-October on tourist visa (hopefully 45 days by then) and extend for 30 days.
if I want to do a border run by air, how long do I need to stay out of Thailand and what are the chances of being refuse a new tourist visa on arrival?
looking forward to your response/help on this matter

Just receive a mail from BPH saying the service will be offered ONLY from June 30th till July 7th..
So, hurry up !!
Maybe some doses remaining on 7th would be given to people appearing and applying..they did it in France vaccinating unauthorized people rather than wasting doses..
Good evening everybody
Hello,
i did the registration yesterday and got email confirmation for my appointment for Saturday June 26 in Bangkok …

I live in BKK near Soi Cowboy and you can still buy at grocery stores and/or bar to have a drink ... I guess this ban does not apply to Bangkok itself ?

Traffic Is more dense from Wat Phra Sit Manhattan and it’s only a few km difference between the two station but less traffic from Kasetsart

To clarify my previous comment, the total cost was from my place to MTT and returning to my condo
-
I returned to MTT today after my initial trip late October to extend my short term visa. I had a under consideration stamp (November 12 return date).
My visa was extended until December 30 (this implies 60 days total, from October 29).
In addition, some people voice their concerns regarding the cost to go to MTT. I took BTS from Asok to Kasetsart University and then taxi. Total cost for the entire trip was 300 THB

Thanks for your reply Ubonjoe.
if I understand correctly from the various answers on this forum, TR-60 online 1 is counter J and located on the thirdfloor ?

Tourist visa extension , however, I used the under consideration stamp date as my expiration date for the visa?
30 days extension for Exempt stamp?
