  1.    We did not and had a nasty 20,000b/p surprise at Suvarnabami upon departure. We did not have the cash, and were told that we would have to go to jail if we could not pay! - luckily the cc limits did not kick in.

Despite having applied for an O-A visa we were issued an O visa, which has different reporting rules, which we ignored in our ignorance. Why were we issued an O visa? No idea, we don't even qualify for one according to the official Thai consulate (USA) website. Of course, the situation was not helped by the fact that despite early submission of the visa application it was issued until "last minute"  pleas were made. I was happy to just get our passports back in time to make the flight.

We come to Thailand for 6 months at a time and I was planning to go back to a normal tourist visa and make a few visa runs, but with the pandemic worsening that does not seem to be the best strategy.

Anyhow, good luck to the rest of you.

  2. I have a similar problem with O-A visa reporting.

My reporting date was March 5, and I sent in docs and sase by registered mail on February 22. I have heard nothing. I sent follow-up email on on March 22. Still nothing.

Small wrinkle is that I am returning to US on April 15.

It is a bit confusing, on this site I have been told to just go to airport, no problem, but when I call 1111 (no answer at Immigration) I was told I should go to Immigration.

Anyhow, I tried to make online reservation to file 90 day report (only Chamchuri location available?) but system would not allow booking a date so far past my official reporting date!

What is now confusing is the location - from the messaging above I see the location mentioned as MTT. Is that the same as Chamchuri? If not -

       - what is the web address to book at MTT?

       - Can you report without a booking in Chamchuri?

       Thanks, George

  3. Brewsrwebudgen,

Thanks for your reply, but I must confess I am a bit confused about when to report. The official Thai website ( Notification of staying in the Kingdom over 90 days – สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง – Immigration Bureau) says " 4. The notification must be made within 15 days before or after 7 days the period of 90 days expires. "

This seems to indicate that the window for the reporting period is from 15 days before until 7 days after the expiry date.

I still haven't heard anything, but with a departure date of April 15th it looks like a visit to the Immigration Offices is in my future if nothing is received in the next week or so.

       Thanks again, George

  4.    We have just been here for 90 days under an O-A visa and reported for the first time by mail, but have not had any response yet. The reporting date was March 5th and we register mailed in the docs, with self addressed envelopes, on 23 February.

       - Is our waiting time too long? What is the normal response time?

       - Can we mail in our first 90 day report? The website says NO for online reporting, but shows no restriction on mail in reporting.

       Thanks for any feedback.

  5. Thanks everyone for your comments -

       - I did ask the NY consulate and they said it wasn't their problem.

       - I have checked the website "COVID-19...", and I will again, but they gave me a lot of false positives on RT-PCR, in that when you called you realized that they had PCR, but not RT, or it wasn't available in 3 days.

       - Also had checked JFK and LGA, but the tests are not RT-PCR.

I now am going to have postpone flight and ASQ and get another COE, what joy.

       Thanks again, g

  6.     The local Thai consulate's (NY) website says that we have to have a RT-PCR test within 72 hours before departure. But here in the New York area I have not been able to find any testing center that can meet that deadline as they are all being swamped by testing requests. The best I can get are quotes of 3-5 days, which seems shaky at best.

I can get a normal PCR test in a few hours though.

Does anybody know if there is any flexibility here, and the normal PCR test would be accepted? It is my understanding we will be tested again at BKK upon arrival anyhow.

Appreciate any advice here. Thanks! g
