  1. Normally, at different time of the year I would agree with you, but everyone desperate to get away for a break/holiday want to go over Christmas especially in construction where everything closes down for 1-2 months. Ideal time to take a break and have money in their pockets burning a whole where they have worked the last 2 years and not been able to go anywhere. These were the bread and butter of our bars and other bars when they were open. I suggest most returning ex-pats are already back with their families unless like me you brought them with us for the summer which is now firmly over in the UK and need to go back in the warm..... The worrying bit is how many rejections have been issued making the Thailand Pass a joke STOPPING tourists from going, several I personally know and now off to an all inclusive in Mexico..
  2. Good choice in Wise (ex TransferWise) been using it for about a year now and so impressed with how well it works and the instant exchange rate loads better than most and so quick to transfer..
  3. Now he knows what we have to put up with when we get rejections on things for Thailand that the rest of the world simply accepts...no sympathy, poetic justice
  4. They have rejected the biggest percentage for supposedly not providing the correct information. Truth is they simply have not read or understood the documents supplied. If they gave EVERY quarantine hotel an approved Quarantine Hotel Certificate that contained everything they wanted for the pass in a format everyone understood it would work fine Dear Mr. xxxxxx Thailand Pass system has rejected your registration due to Please submit a high-resolution photo of paid hotel reservation confirmation that includes the RT-PCR test and contains your name. 5. Just to clarify, the Thailand Pass itself is free. Problem is its the worse online program ever conceived with massive issues still not addressed and even worse, the Thai embassy will only deal with any problems getting the pass. 3 days before you you fly!! There is no way of tracing, printing or finding out the current status of your application. Just wait 7 days and see if you have it. On rejection you have to start a new application and upload ALL your documents again with very little clue as to what went wrong and why it was rejected. As below it looks like the hotel booking and the insurance they were not happy with even though its AXA and same policy that sailed through on 14 day quarantine last year!! There is no way to follow this up and no way of asking what was wrong with the documents so left with the only choice of resubmitting ALL documents and hope who ever checks it this time and maybe reads it correctly!! 6. Difficult because it depends on length of stay. Best go https://www.axa.co.th/en/axa-sawasdee-thailand-travel-insurance and click buy, put in your details and it will give you an online quote of exactly what it will be..
  7. I know a few die hard tourists coming back for Christmas come hell or high water but they have paid a company in Thailand to do it all for them which I'm now sort of regretting not following their lead. They do the hotel, insurance and Thailand Pass so little for them to do apart from sending Covid Vaccination Certificate available off the NHS web site!! All in all very easy for anyone who cant handle the paperwork..
  8. For everything and includes Covid as a mentioned item on the certificate with medical expense due to accident or sickness THB 1,750,000.00
  9. Thanks for that. To be fair we don't travel until 2nd Dec so I can suffer one more rejection which should be by 16th Nov so hopefully PDF enabled and re-submit new application then along with the wife's if still haven't heard back on hers by then. Shouldn't be an issue for her being a Thai national.
  10. Confirmation of successful submission by email almost instant as below. Rejection exactly 7 days later so now I expect I will have to wait another 7 days for either another rejection or approval. Interestingly enough due to pressure from someone going into the hotel or my email or both, I have now received the booking letter from the hotel I should have had in the first place which should hopefully enable a successful application next time!! Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXXX Thailand Pass system has received your registration. The result of your registration will be sent to this email within 7 working days.
  11. Just wondering if anyone else on this forum is having as much hassle with getting a Thailand Pass? Mine has just been rejected with little information: Thailand Pass system has rejected your registration due to Please submit a high-resolution photo of paid hotel reservation confirmation that includes the RT-PCR test and contains your name. Please submit a high-resolution photo of the medical insurance that contains your name. Please supply proof of insurance with a minimum medical expenditure of $50,000 USD and coverage for COVID-19. If you would like to make adjustments or attach additional documents, please re-register via the following link: So, there is no way of amending the original application because that option doesn't appear anywhere so a complete re-register with all the documentation submitted again in JPEG format. PDF would have been so much better but there we have it. I suspect if I re-register/apply in full with only the two items they mention it would be rejected again. I will point out the proof of insurance was the same AXA policy I took out last year for the 14 day quarantine which was not an issue and fail to see why this time its been rejected. Much the same applies to the paid hotel reservation apart from this particular hotel is a different one in Pattaya and their confirmation states (item 4) "1 SWABs Test" rather than RT-PCR Test which I believe may be the issue. Have emailed the hotel to ask them to amend the confirmation but no reply or acknowledgement. Sent someone to the hotel with a copy of the confirmation only to be told by the receptionist that reservations only work 8am-midday (Thai time) which is not much good to call them from the UK unless I get up or stay up till 1am - 5am # of Guest Rate includes 2 Adults • Daily breakfast for 1 • Internet • Airport pick-up service • 1 SWABs Test • Breakfast Included • Unlimited Wi-Fi Internet • Pick up from Suvarnabhumi Airport • No Smoking Rooms available The person who went into the hotel on my behalf said they were as unhelpful as could be stating come back morning!! I have made a new application uploading the identical documents as that's all I have and believe them to be correct, on the basis that whoever inspects them this time will actually take the trouble to read them and realise I have provided everything asked for.!!! Again wait another 7 days for any sort of response It gets progressively worse that my Thai wife's application hasn't even had a response one way or another (its been the statutory 7 days) and when she sent an email to the consulate: This is an automatic response - please do not reply. Only emergency emails will receive an individualised reply If you have any queries regarding Thailand Pass, please re email us putting subject TP/date of traveling You need to inform us your Full name, passport No. date of registration and date of departure. We will follow the case in urgent need to travel only within 3 days before your traveling date. 3 days before you travel is cutting it somewhat fine and gives us little or no time to amend flights, hotel reservations or pre-flight RT-PCR tests or does she simply make another application and hopefully get a response. this time! Just wonder how many other people find themselves in a similar situation and what or how they have resolved it? As a footnote I think the COE was far simpler and if my experience is anything to go by, I really cant see general tourists flocking back to Thailand anytime soon with so many hoops to jump through with little recourse to resolve any issues...
  12. Because we all know the cases will rise dramatically and will instantly disprove everything they are saying!!
  13. I dare say some were not sold to Chinese but this is how the sales staff portrayed it to me but the point was based on your own sales, all to Chinese!! My point was this is traceable spending by Chinese and wonder if it a huge part of where the Thais get there figures of top spenders from and even if it is, it wont benefit local Thais in the Tourist industry that have been his hardest
  14. Correct there have been in excess now of 65,000 Thailand Pass applications, 2 of them were for me and wife (although still waiting for them) yet this is not just the UK, this is all over World which pales into insignificance compared with how may people usually come this time of year. Coupled with them going all over Thailand and not just Pattaya the whole thing is a drop in the ocean to what's needed and will have little or no bearing in the numbers going to Pattaya. Yes will increase but not enough to open Soi7 Soi 8 and anywhere else that's been totally decimated. That's a long way off sadly to say
  15. Fortunately being double jabbed in the UK all that information is available straight off the NHS app for emailing or downloading directly to you. Obviously not the same for Thailand...Example.pdf
  16. To be fair i did receive the confirmation email for both of us but are you saying when you applied for a Thai National there was no insurance section or you could bypass it? 17. Not entirely sure how Thailand reach the conclusion Chinese are the big spenders unless its based on what real estate they purchase combined with luxury items they cant get at home. Coupled with hotel booking and what they spend on food I suppose based on this formula they are big spenders compared with other nationalities. Case & point I went to buy a sea facing condo in 2018 at Centric Sea Pattaya only to be told ALL had been sold to Chinese. Don't live there, just bought for the future.. Consensus of opinion then was they were trying to get their money out of China as quickly as possible and property was a good & safe investment, even in Thailand. I believe this was the case all over Pattaya with purchases mainly by Chinese, possibly before Xi Jinping gained too much power to prevent this haemorrhaging of money from China which incidentally, he has now succeeded. Off track slightly but none of this spending helps the common Thai tourism. They rely on all the other nationalities that come to Thailand for a holiday or who already live here or are looking to settle. I cant believe for one moment the amount of money these people spend can be as easily traced as its mainly cash not cards or large purchases. Its these spenders that really help the common Thai people out and not the Chinese no matter how you dress it up and Thailand needs to do more to encourage more of this type of people to come and spend there hard earned cash and forget about the dependency on China which will dwindle as more and more restrictions are bought to bare in China.
  18. Yes but no mention of customers bringing their own bottle of spirits or wine with them and the restaurant providing non-alcoholic mixers. The restaurant stays within the law by NOT SELLING ALCOHOL but no mention of drinking alcohol. Saw this many many times last year during the same ban first time round. Absolutely ludicrous ban in my opinion, thinking having a drink at a restaurant will spread Covid... what a nonsense...
  19. OK so six discovered. Were they returning Thai that apparently don't need a PCR test to enter Thailand but may be required to board a flight except Thai airways!!. Did they have negative tests 72 hours before their flights and if so they must have contracted Covid after their test. What nationality? which flight? same flight? Tested in quarantine and found to be positive? So many questions and so little facts to work out what's going wrong or how to fix it..
  20. Weird site though. Wouldn't work with Chrome but did with Edge which is now based on Chrome yet other people have no issues. Anyway, easy to use but a huge issue with excepted document only in JPEG, PNG etc but not PDF which means all documents consisting of a single page has to be uploaded individually. Appreciate most people don't have scanners so to take a picture with your phone is easier, hence the image style formats but, most sent documents from hotel booking to insurance policies, flight details etc are in PDF format. Personally I think that is a massive mistake excluding PDF format. Also for Thai Nationals Thailand Pass the final section is insurance which they don't need. It wont let you complete the application for submission until you enter Start Date, Policy Number, coverage amount etc NAD upload something. I just copied the section from the Thailand Website stating Thai do not need insurance, saved as a JPEG and uploaded that. Seems like the programmers forgot to remove the entire section on Insurance when you select Returning Thai National. Perhaps it will be removed at some point when enough complain but then again I haven't had the actual pass come through yet!!
  21. That's a really good point and one I have commented on several occasions. The truth is any returning Thai nationals do not need the negative PCR test 72 hours before boarding a flight UNLESS specified by the airline. Thai airways insist all non-Thai have the test but not Thai meaning you can board a Thai flight with every chance an untested person will have Covid and infect other passengers on the plain. When I come back in December my wife will simply walk through but I will merrily jump through hoops!! AND they wonder why the Chinese cant be arsed to come to Thailand. Still no direct flight from BA either which shows how little uptake there is even with just 1 day quarantine...be great when this circus is not run by clowns!!
  22. Curious where they found the people to answer the questions in the first place!!
  23. Unfortunately all the farangs from across Thailand currently holidaying in Phuket(because they can!!) many have not been double jabbed, are there partying, drinking and socialising and eventually will return to their own provinces.. Do the Thai government actually believe Covid doesn't go to Phuket?? or is it the vested interest of many of the people in power saying its OK its fine because they own or run business's in there! You can see why the business owners in Pattaya and other holiday resorts are getting totally <deleted> off with the situation especially when many in Pattaya have been double jabbed, Something is well out of sync here and with the announcement the bars will remain closed throughout November in most other provinces the tourists and returning Ex-pats are simply going to sit tight in their home countries until these clowns making these decisions either wise up or step down...
