We seem to have a new bird in the area (Khao takiep Hua Hin) that I just can't id or get a photo of because its too quick. Its black, has a very raucous cry, black wings with single blue strip halfway along wing, and white wingtips. Slightly smaller than a black drongo (which I thought it was originally). Likes mid air battles particularly with local pigeons, who run for cover whenever this bird appears. Ive looked at birds of Thailand books and websites and just cannot get a handle on what the bird is, would like suggestions, thanks.

To me the two sentences above seem completely contradictory.
How can they talk about social distancing of two metres, and events of up to a hundred attendees?

This also is confusing. Where are the boundaries of "the city"? Every soi beetwen 1 and 140 or what?

Great answer, thanks! And that's my Thai reading exercise for the rest of the week.

Looking at this name I wonder if there was ever a Doctor Chit and what did he or she do to have a district in Bangkok named after him or her.

Try this word in Thai, ผ้าพันแผลยืดหยุ่น

Cheers, ผ้าพัน looks a good starting point
Trying to avoid English, only way to expand Thai vocab and avoid the dreaded tinglit!

Dictionaries don't seem agreed on the Thai word for an elasticated bandage, the type worn by sports participants to provide support to knees, ankles, wrists and the suchlike. Grateful if anyone knows this, cheers.

Buy a the loudest cheap klaxon type siren or car alarm and direct it towards the morons making the noise and set it off full blast until their 'fun' is completely ruined and they give up. After all, if they are free to make a din then so are you. The feedback will eventually get back to the boneheads renting the gaff out as they see their ratings plummet and their business collapse because I know from personal experience that these party houses are rated on sites like agoda and so on. If necessary, apply a second blast around 04:30 the next morning when the head throbbing morons are eventually trying to get some sleep. People should be free to make a din and party full blast, but NOT in residential areas.

The current process is working like a charm
Hear hear! Just look at the mess that Europe is in. Level 3 then level 4 then level 2 except in areas with a <deleted> postcode which have level 3 and a half, then level 5 except on odd numbered fridays.

Once upon a time one would need a who book of vaccines and inoculations to go anywhere and keep them up to date. Surely any sane person would think the benefit of a jab outweighs the problems of airline boneheads expecting one get fit to fly certificates without having a clue what they are, being banged up in ASQ for 15 days and doing the covid test before leaving. As for anti vaxxers, if they choose suicide over common sense, good riddance.

Why would it include insurance. It is not required for an extension of stay based upon marriage.

Apparently Vice President Pence's solution is to pray. At least Thailand is not that stupid.

The notarization is not, and never was, proof that the contents (you declaration of income) is correct. ("A notary public is a third-party witness to not only the signature of a document but also the fact that all parties who signed did so willingly and under their own power.)
First, I thought letters from some embassies (obviously not the US) were still accepted. So what you imply is that the 65k monthly or 800k in the bank is still a requirement even with those countries still providing letters because these letters are not proof of income? So what would be the point of these countries providing letters if they have no meaning? Getting really confusing now I must say.

Apologies for my misunderstanding. When the old embassy letter thing worked certainly foreign dividends, including US divis, were accepted as proof of sufficient income. It didn't have to be a pension. May I suggest that you get your transferee to put a reference on you inward payments like 'Pension'. There is usually a reference or notes field on most foreign transfer applications that goes along with all the important stuff like SWIFT codes etc. In that way you would get a specific reference to pension if you were worried.

My funds are on the market and I will not be transferring 800 K baht losing earnings growth.
I'm am in the same boat and I don't see the merit of having 800k tied up at 1%. However I believe the 65k requirement states that it must be an inward transfer from a foreign bank. If you are invested in stocks on the SET then the dividend payments would not be from a foreign bank but a domestic transfer from the Thai Securities Depository Co Ltd.

So no need for a happy family photo in front of the house with the house number clearly displayed? No need for a map showing where the gaff is located from the nearest main road?

From previous experience you don't need to be listed in her TB.

Right so you gotta take Pascal's wager for ALL deities...NOT just one. ALL...cuz if you believe in the wrong deity, suffer the consequences.
Like say The Flying Spaghetti Monster that the Pastafarians believe in. If you don't love pasta and have it at least once a week and truly enjoy it...spend eternity drowning in a noodly pot of boiling water!
And you have to go around with an upturned saucepan on your head (handle pointing backwards) to comply with the religious silly hat requirement.
