  1. I think you ae unaware of the size of these countries - what are you comparing them to where it "happens a lot"?
  2. A a junta man himself, he's hardly likely to object, is he?
  3. you might also point out that during setting up and breaking down the re are many small businesses that effectively have to suspend operations due to access and supply problems caused by the barriers and other components of the race circuit. It's just rick boys having fun at everyone else's and the environments expense.
  4. low baht is perfect for tourism.....it used to be around 75 to the pound about 20 years ago. A lot of OAPs will be happy.
  5. Neither has he apparently - he failed to get elected in successive elections - only a coup put him in power. Isn't he a mate of Boris Johnson?
  6. A new totally imported car attracts fees, taxes and duties of around 300% Secondhand cars can no longer be imported. Even temporary imports are really difficult now.
  7. I'm somewhat ambivalent about this. The entire town is engulfed by crash-barriers and stands for weeks either side. It certainly is a spectacle that draws in a multitude and the ring is noisy without much room for manoeuvre. however I get the feeling that this is primarily for the gratification of Bang Saen "ruling elite" who have always had a penchant for high performance cars - mostly grey imports. This is their chance to take over the town and run like hell all over it. Pretty much regardless of the feelings of the ordinary locals.
  8. Hybrids are a huge problem as breeders like them for the skin! Introducing any animals back into the wild is fraught with problems but crocs are an integral part of their ecosystem. A health croc population signifies a healthy environment. slates and Siamese crocs have different natural histories and prey - so hybrids in the wrong place can cause more destruction than good. Compered to some animals Siamese crocs are easier to reintroduce, but this isn't necessarily the way to do it. What is needed is for the current populations to be allowed to increase naturally. There is no really serious problem with human interactions, NO! - Most are hybrids! What is needed is for the current populations to be allowed to increase naturally. here is no really serious problem with human interactions, they’re generally unaggressive towards humans - until the 1950s Siamese crocs were quite common. Loss of habitat and encroachment were not the main causes of their slide onto the endangered list, it was the price of alligator skins - they were hunted out of existence .... of course poaching is still a problem. The Siamese croc is a relatively small animal and the skins were very sought after - they are illegal in most countries now ....The length of this crocodile can reach up to 13 feet, while the average Siamese croc is more likely to be around 7-8 feet. The idea behind hybrids is to get larger animals with a better skin. - until the 1950s Siamese crocs were quite common. There are meant to be many “pure” Siamese in farms but this is impossible to establish as accurate.
  9. Be careful what you wish for! There are less than 1,000 mature adults left in the wild – the SPECIES is critically endangered and is at great risk of hybridisation. This is a serious problem for many apex predators in this region. Unfortunately there are many crocodile farms that are populated by other species or hybrids and there are often escapes. The problem with this is it will hasten the extinction of the species through hybridisation. This animal needs to be captured and DNA tested to make sure it is a genuine Siamese croc.
  10. if the sol is sandy around there (which I think it is) , then pile-driving is likely to liquify the ground under other buildings causing subsidence.
  11. Are we sur it's an indigenous and not an escaped group that has started breeding?
  12. So dual pricing is preventing national resources from taking money. If they do away with it or review their pricing policies their will be more visitors, more money and better funding for national treasures, national parks etc, etc.
  13. looking at the abdomen? - Mud daubers have a very thin connection to the thorax to enable it to swing under something and sting it. they are normally very UNagressive.
  14. in 25 years in Thailand and Australia (QLD), I've probably used air-con in total less than 12 hours. If I was sick, I might have it one and that's about it. My guests would use tin there rooms but I'd try and persuade then to use a timer or just the fan. Oddly enough I hardly ever drove without air-con. I also got used it at work.
  15. on a 650 the ride should be quite enjoyable. I assume you aren't in a great hurry? I'd make sure I've got google maps and a plan that avoids routes that M/Cs can't use - It could be a good opportunity to explore the lesser used routes. Once you get to Samuk Songkram, leave the main road and just follow the coast down.... smaller roads, it's really nice! M/Cs are counted as "vulnerable" road users. 73% of all road deaths are riders or passengers of M/Cs, but this doesn't have to be you. Even on a bike that can keep up with highway speeds you need to bear in mind that M/Cs are not very visible - a simple lamppost by a junction can obscure a motorcycle for several meters before the junction and Thailand has a lot of poorly designed road furniture. Those narrow lanes on the sides of road aren't motorcycle lanes, they are hard shoulders. Some roads even have M/C lies - although I've never used them. Of course the main roads have a lot of service roads running along side too.
  16. Recreational use of cannabis would be best if it is decriminalised or even legalised Medical marijuana is largely quackery - yet the government has gone headlong into this - it shows they haven't researched the topic properly. However Trying to make this plant illegal is again pointless. but the one thing that is sure is that the attempts by the Thai authorities to decriminalise this are total chaos.
  17. Duh - used as ad how - but you don't seem to see the point is I'm making. It's based on the fallacious argument made by Kwasaki
  18. they don't even get ambulances there on time.
  19. 100% untrue - what do you think "official" road stats are???
