  1. Thanks. That's what I'm doing, I learnt a long time ago never to trust anything about Thailand. I'm asking on this forum because it's difficult to find clear, unambiguous and reliable news when it comes to Thailand. Maybe someone sees clearly through all the smoke and can share....
  2. After browsing through this thread, I must say I am still very confused. Can someone (preferably who knows something) summarise w.r.t. the headline "Thailand will scrap the quarantine for vaccinated visitors from 1st november"? What exactly does it mean: - would that only apply to a limited number of areas? - or would that allow a fully vacced foreigner to fly into BKK and from there on fly anywhere else in Thailand? I am not, repeat not, interested in any of the so-called sandbox options. I just want to fly in and move on to my place up country, all that without too much hassle. I know "exactly" is asking for a lot when it is about Thailand.... ????
  3. The masses : if they have not chosen another destination! Lots of people do not wait until the last moment to make bookings. So many other places to go to without too much hassle, with seas and sun and booze etc.
  4. "If this percentage ..." : note the very small number of people contacted to deliver these stats. Totally insignificant. If you go and ask the same number in another neighborhood, you get 2/3's answering exactly the opposite! This is called making news out of noise.
  5. 100% clarity is a 100% rarity in the country in question
  6. "ASEAN NOW notes that as far as the Thai government's pandemic plans and those of its organisations goes, calling anything a "sure thing" is wishful thinking. " Yeah, right!
  7. Check this official website : Coronavirus - Advice for Foreign Nationals in France - Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (diplomatie.gouv.fr) As said above, Thailand is currently on the Orange List. This may well be what you have to check particularly, as most likely France will not recognise your vaccination.
  8. And as always that obscene obsession with money money money. It for sure is one ugly element of the Thai culture.
  9. ".... and all the Bull about how many zillions of THB they are spending!" Let's not forget that obscene and misplaced obsession with the money!
  10. That's one of the nice things about Thailand : it's everything you want. The land of extremes and also the land of contradictions : it can be filthy, it can be spotless clean; it can be chaotic and disorganised, it can be very well organised; people can be truthful and sincere, they can also be deceitful and lying through their teeth; they can be honest, prudish and modest about clothing and behaviour , they can also be cheaters, and totally open and adventurous when it comes to men-women relationships. Etc. And often at the same time!!!
  11. I don't know about Playstation. I have used Xbox for a few years now and ended up playing only 1 game, or rather a series of games : the Halo games. It's a shooter type of games, all about saving the world and the known universe from a confederation of nasty aliens. Sounds childish but there is a child in any grownup 555! I find it great and have played them again and again at various levels of difficulty. Loads of weapons to use including tanks and planes, and you can use those of the enemy too. Good fun.
  12. Having worked a few years ago in Thailand as an "expert", here is a word of warning to would-be experts to go to Thailand under any future scheme : do not expect your advices to be heeded, you are likely to be considered as a fly on the wall and to be used for obscure, opaque and internal reasons.
  13. This sounds like an excellent explanation. It would explain most of the perceived xenophobic incidents. However, I'm convinced there are germs of genuine xenophobia somewhere in the Thai mindset. When someone, earlier and here above (can't remember who) quoted his wife saying Thais don't like foreigners, I think there is truth in it. I hardly ever saw Thais being indifferent to the point of being unpleasant towards other Thais, even when they do not know each other. On the contrary, they tend to be very pleasant to each other most of the time. But a number of times, looks of disgust and contempt towards foreigners, yes. If that is not obvious, remember: if Thais only appear indifferent, they are masters in not showing what they think or feel on their faces. Their "indifference" is often much more than that.
  14. Good idea. If getting her pregnant will facilitate her access to vaccination, I will increase with pleasure "playtime" activities with my lovely woman too! As they say, 2 birds with one stone!
  15. "They have no clue" ... "changing rules almost day by day" .... "How blind can you be" : welcome to Thailand!
  16. I concur w.r.t. women. I found the climate in Colombia often much more pleasant than in most places in Thailand. "Tropical climate of altitude" it's called, lovely.
  17. Not to mention: if "people were allowed to get on with their lives" without COVID-related restrictions: 1) go explain why to the "few" who die or who suffer of severe / long term complications ; 2) justify letting the medical facilities be overrun by COVID patients. With all the critics that can be addressed to the government and the hi-so manipulating clique, I still don't believe they would accept such a situation : it makes them look bad, it gives the country a bad name + all those COVID patients are taken away from the factories, hence a blow on the economy and losses for those who profit of the economy.
  18. You are 100% right. These excessive restrictions, I would say nearly fanatical, regardless of vaccination status (amongst other factors), do not make any sense. But that does not stop people coming every day with new obsessive statements about how many tourists they expect and, most importantly (?) how many billion bahts they will spend .... with totally absurd and meaningless degrees accuracy. Do not expect too much from the Thai authorities ????
  19. Same for me, I'm 0% interested in the Phuket Sandbox or Samui + options. Rather how I can return to my place up country before the end of the year. Still need ASQ in BKK, but how long? Two links below mention "reduction to 10 days / 11 nights" except if coming from a few high risk countries (as far as I know, only a few African countries). Would be so helpful if all sites would clearly indicate at the top the last date of updating! It's so confusing with everyone and his dog changing rules every day!
