I used SevenSeas just over 3 years ago. They charged a reasonable price and supplied six boxes and a lot of bubble wrap and tape. The staff were helpful, they instructed me to make sure it was sent in the name of a Thai citizen and clearly marked as Used Household Goods. I also had to supply proof that my wife had lived outside of Thailand for at least 5 years.

My only criticism is that they took about 6 weeks longer than promised. Most of which time spent sitting in a depot in the south of England awaiting shipment

Happily time is not an issue at present - no passenger flights for a while.

    Thanks,

Which company you use, check that you are aware before sending things back, that you may be liable for customs duties.

I shipped a container of (3bedroom) household furniture, bed linen clothes, paintings, dinnerware, kitchen equipment. I was liable for duty when it was being cleared, had to argue through agent, regarding the original amount.  The original amount asked seemed like an arbitrary figure, as all the goods were preowned.

Used a Thai agent from Brisbane to arrange it all.

This is only her things. As I understand it, locals can take/send their stuff home without being stung. I'm expecting it will just be clothes & a few household goods.

    Thanks,

  3. 1) If this is in the wrong place, please move it.

    2) Last thread I can find for this topic was 2014/15 - things change.

    3) Real info (pref from experience), no flames.

Wife has a rapid form of dementia & wants to go home. Quite understandable.

Looking for a reliable shipping company to send a few (maybe 3) 30kg boxes of her stuff home.

Pack'n'Send, apart from being overpriced, want to go through the boxes before sending. Not thrilled with that idea.

Seven Seas Worldwide appear suitable - has anyone used them recently? If so, how was it? It appears they will deliver to the door.

    Thanks,

  4. Had the same in my village - arrived 0530, was leaving by 1130.

A dentist was sent to tell me about COVID - apparently the only medically trained in the area with English.

Wasn't a big issue, I was ready to stay overnight & leave on Saturday or go the same day. All I needed to do - building repairs & a quick temple visit - was done by 0800.

  5. Married 16 years (today, actually). I've been part of the village since the first visit, and am still well received when I visit. No problems with the family that I can recall in all the time I've been going there. Can't even recall a row with the Mrs - odd difference of opinion in how things are done, but that's to be expected.

I’ve used them in Paris and Penang a few times, well worth it because you can get a whole apartment for less than a low end shabby hotel room, but in Thailand the hotels are plentiful and cheap enough and the service usually excellent as to render AirBnB unnecessary for me in Thailand.

Looked AirBnB last couple of trips to Paris - hotels were not only cheaper, but a lot more convenient.

Yes its worthwhile buying insurance that covers the max you're likely to stay not just the planned. For example i bought 9 months insurance as although i was booked for 8 months an extra month extention was possible.

You can't extend travel insurance once its started

Depends on the company - I use 1Cover or Columbus. 1Cover allows & recommends adjusting the cover time if you extend the holiday.

    Off topic,

But how do you imagine Thai immigration would know you entered another country on a different passport?

Fingerprints on entering countries is already here - Malaysia & Philippines have it. I imagine others to also.
Iris scanning is on the agenda.
These are held in a database with will match prints/scans to passports.
If your print shows as being connected to a different passport...

You can run, but you can't hide.

Hi pgs, is that to any Thai bank please?

From their website it looks like you need a Citibank account in Thailand.

    Sorry, I didn't get back to this one. I don't often log-in.

Any bank, ours usually go to KTB or Bangkok Bank.

Citi to Citi would be good, but TH Citi is NOT part of the "Immediate Transfer Group", so it takes a couple of days still.

Remember to add a phone number to the notes and something like 'Family Support' as a reason. If you miss those things, you will be called & it will be delayed.

I have a  Huawei  that is the same or very similar to the one you plan to use. I bought a WiFi receiver for my desktop and have found that it is easier to use than the USB connection. Install the SIM card and the computer immediately sees it. Click on the icon and it asks for the PIN. Input the PIN and click connect, off it goes. My phones work about the same way. I now use a Netgear because the  Huawei  is only 3G. The Netgear works exactly the same way and is 4G.

ADDED - Using the  Huawei or Netgear in WiFi mode requires no settings for the computer other than putting in the password. My laptop sees the signal and after putting in the password, it requires no settings in the computer. Same with the phones.

    Hi Gary,

Haven't seen anything form you for quite a while - maybe reading different sections. The tablet end isn't a problem. That is already set up. I just wanted to set the WiFi toy so all she had to do is put in the SIM & turn it on.

    Thanks,

Once you have connected to the Internet via DTAC, there will be no need to remove the SIM in order to top up, check balances and apply packages.

    That can all be done by visiting these pages whilst connected to the Internet via DTAC;

    https://my.dtac.co.th/esv/en/myRefill    to top up.

https://my.dtac.co.th/esv/en/remainingBalance Check balances of packages and phone credit.

    http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/4g-non-stop.html  Apply packages

It has to be said that DTAC data offerings are quite poor in relation to AIS.

    Thank you

It's only for her to use for a month visit. If she/we were going to be there longer I would look at other options. DTAC work OK in our area.
