Hi. Probably a naïve or stupid question, but what is the difference
between pistols we find at about 5'000 baht on this site
and "similar" pistols we find at about 500 baht on Thai markets ?
Both seems to use same white plastic pellets and gas bottle ?...

I went today to the 3bb office in Big C Extra to ask about this.
They told that because I am living in a condo the max speed they can guarantee is 10 Mb.
I found that very strange, //
That is indeed very strange.
I am in a condo too
and I have the 13 Mb @ 900 baht 3BB pack
and have nearly always between 14 & 16 Mb effective
Right now:

Hi. I am interested too in this discussion because I intend to buy new glasses online too
A friend went to BPH earlier this month asking to get a new prescription. He got one, good, but the visit to the ophthalmologist there cost him 2,200 baht ! More than the price of his new lenses...
I need a very low correction and have no astigmatism, so any glasses shop could made this prescription, but clearly they don't seem willing to do it - even for a fee - if you don't buy them glasses or lenses.
I will have to check Euro optics, except if someone can say already if she accepts to make prescription, and at what price ?
I will also look if the new public hospital in Soi Buakhao can do that...

... are the same kind of people who feel the footpath belongs to them too,
so they have already extended their shop to include the footpath too, ...
Very often they are right on that.
In many streets in Pattaya the footpath is not public but belong to the house along it.
That's why you see so many "small businesses" installed on footpaths: it's a private area, and then can be rent!
-
This is not a Thai thing - it happens in virtually every city on the planet.
It does get worse. Go to any city in the US or Europe, and you will find restaurant owners who place tables and chairs right on the footpath, and if that is not enough, then they remove the traffic cones they have placed in the street to block parkers and put more tables and chairs there.
Absolute rubbish !!!
Not rubbish at all!
I will not speak for the whole planet,
but restaurants putting chairs along the street to reserve car parks for their customers
is a VERY common practice at least in Italy, France & Spain.

Your arrival card does have a number on it. In the bottom right corner, two letters followed by some numbers.
Some news worth for those who have not travelled into Thailand for a while.
The form really looks different now with the barcode.
Hi. Not sure when they changed their TM.6 form, but I arrived on 31 DEC 2013 (11 days ago)
and still had the old TM.6 card with Number and BarCode in the Top Right corner
like this one :
and not like that one :

Poor planning to put it on the fifth floor.
The food court is on 5th floor for many years already ! Not easy to move it
For me it look desert because :
- it just reopen after a long renovation
- most tourists - even those making shopping in floors below - ignore about this food court
- the OP choose "well" his moment, because many people around noon and in the evening
-
That may out of date because a lot of people have gotten drivers licensees with a tourist visa and even visa exempt entries.
I know some people in similar situation with tourist visa,
and they have to renew for a new "temporary license" every year...
Edit:
And in the topic you give, in last but one post : "And off Corse a valid TR or non O visa."
-
There is no requirement to have any visa type to get a drivers license.
ThaiVisa site disagree with you too
http://www.thaivisa.com/thai-driving-license.html :
"
The following are required to make the application :
1. Passport with valid Non-immigrant Visa. (Individuals with a Tourist Visa don’t qualify)
...
"
-
There is no requirement to have any visa type to get a drivers license.
In Pattaya you need a non-O to get a driver's license (the 5-years one)
As a tourist you can only get a 1-year "temporary license"
-
So they think "farangs" will marry each other to get a thai visa? Yeah, we are the scammers here, right?
Not too many "farangs" in the ASEAN regional 10-member block... I think

Hi. I got today confirmation of what I heard yesterday. This come from the husband of a FriendShip employee :
The guy was so irritated/excited when leaving the store, making big gestures, that he fell in the stairs to the parking lot !
Seems like no aggression from anyone in this case
Edit: Ooops. I should read ALL page before posting...
Aveabeeror2 already gave this story in post #44 above

Edit: Misunderstanding. Sorry.

Hi. Thanks for those who replied already
Please do not start here another "smoking war". On this subject, and for my condo, the rule will just remind people what the law say, (in brief: no smocking if a roof over your head), nothing more
-
Thanks KittenKong.
We are exactly in this case. The list will have to be approved, sure, but first we have to write it
About gaz: yes, more a law than a rule. Put this law as a rule is a way for owners to know about it.
About smoking: yes, I should have add "enclosed". No reason to forbid at the pool or in the cars park
My building has rules about all the items you mention, and quite a few more
These "a few more" are the rules that interest me here
- no laundry on balconies, (often with "visible from the street", I think)
- no throwing rubbish from the balcony, (strange? but I suppose there must be a reason for that?)
- no swimware in the elevators, (and more general "decent clothing" inside condo)
Please add here rules you may know about (or wish )
-
Hi. We don't have a written "House Rules" document in our Condo. We have the legal documents from the promoter but they are just about basic legal requirements. Basically we are looking for a list of the 15-20 main house rules that every people should respect, a list to be displayed in the lobby for everyone to know about it.
Example of such rules could be:
- No noise (TV, music,...) during the night: 11pm-7am
- Noisy work between 10am-5pm only and Monday-Friday only
- No smocking in corridors, lift, lobby and communal areas
- No dogs or noisy pets in the condo
- No gaz bottle allowed in the condo
etc.
I am interested in any example of "House Rules" from a Condo in Thailand.
I you have, or can point on, or can list any particular rule here. Thanks
PS: I am on Pattaya and can move around to get a copy of your document if you have a paper one.
-
- Then there is the problem of the limitation of use of freehold property.
I won't accept anybody making rules on who is allowed to stay in my property for which duration and who is not, because this infringes on my property rights.
You wont accept? Sorry but here you will have to!
We would have to ask a lawyer for precisions, but yes there is a law that forbid the use of a condo unit as an hostel.
Not sure how short you can rent, but because of this law some condos have put in their rules that you can't rent for less than 30 days (or 15?).
-
Last year and also at New Years' the display is the full length of Beach road.
Certainly not how I remember last years.
I was at PBG, and during the finale there was a couple of bangs closer to us, but the full length of Beach Road ?
Agree. The display was only on the (half) North part of Beach Road,
and seems it will be the same this year with signs for the Entrance in the FireWork Show Area at Central Beach Festival
-
// because of all the posters // complain how people cant or dont want to live in small spaces.
Personally I like to live in a bigger house //
"Small space", "Bigger house",... I will never understand that.
Many condos are bigger than many of the small houses we find in Pattaya.

Oh lord, Here we go again.
Yes, and sure we will get many such topics again
as long as so many smokers refuse to respect the "No Smoking" signs & rules
in most bars and many restaurants...
-
Ridiculous comment. First this discotech is not on Walking Street but at Pattaya Harbour. Second, mainly at this early hour, WS is full of police and tourists and lot of safer than many other places. You don't need to denigrate this place just because you don't like it.WS is just insane. This stuff happens all the time over there. Tourists really need to be informed about the dangers. Violence against tourists is increasing all the time especially on WS. Perhaps tourists need to rethink their travel plans.

Being photographed is one thing and yes, you can not claim privacy when you are out on the street.
The picture being published is completely another story. If you are on a picture (i.e. during a demonstration), you can not claim privacy rights, as a demonstration is a public and newsworthy event where you know that your picture can be taken and uploaded to public domains. However, the persons on such pictures are normally not singled out.
Uploading the picture of a person, where the person is singled out and where their is no public interest in the person being singled out, is a violation of most countries privacy rights as well as a violation of ethics code for journalists.
Hi Swiss1960,
You should indicate clearly to which country laws you make reference when you post this kind of message.
By default on this forum it should be Thailand laws and it seems to me that some parts of what you wrote here are no true in Thailand.
I am not a Thai lawyer though...

Can you imagine the looks on your co-passengers on the BTS while showing off your iPad Air ?
Yes. Probably very scared, and running away of you to exit the train.
Shop is evacuated and fire brigade are called after brand new iPad Air EXPLODES

A new low for Pattaya's finest BIB
in Pattaya
Posted
Certainly not a standard practice !
BIB are in this area nearly everyday; when your car/motorbike is illegally/badly parked,
hey block it on one wheel and you get a paper/bill to go pay at Soi 9 main office.
BTW I agree with a previous post
that this story is not credible with this 10'000 baht amount...
Anyone knowing this area will tell you that for an "immediate solved problem"
the "donation" is usually 150-200 for a bike and 300-400 for a car,
but nowadays most BIB will refuse and will send you to Soi 9.
