  1. All the "western" vaccines have good data for protection against serious, and even mild, illness from Covid, even with the latest Delta variant.

Sinovac have still not even published their stage 3 clinical trials data. I don't think there is any robust data on the Chinese vaccines apart from the original strain of the virus.

Also, if you want to travel anywhere, no "western" health agencies have approved the Chinese vaccines, so you will likely be treated as non-vaccinated if you travel to Europe or the US.

There have been no head to head vaccine comparisons as far as I know, so comparing AZ v Moderna v Pfizer is difficult.....all their trials were in different places under different conditions, etc,

pfizer deal scuppered,  you might be in for long wait

    Which Pfizer deal?

If you mean the deal that never was from the Thonburi Health Group, I doubt that was anything more than a PR stunt to increase the share price, and the Medpark supply has nothing to do with that.

wait, curfew was introduced around 12.7, almost a month ago.

They advised patients to use taxi from their recommended company.

They all understood and planned all details.

And medical appointments are a valid reason for travel, so not sure why Medpark used the "curfew in place, maybe you need more flexibility in timing" reason.  Possible just that a lot of people were not on time anyway, so easier just to have an open timing

    28 days.

But there is no implied guarantee that if you manage to secure a first dose of Pfizer, that you will get a second dose of Pfizer. All the wording specifically mentions a registration for a first dose (only). Which might mean many things: you get a second dose, you have to register again for a second dose (of something), you don't get a second dose.

    Hoping the DCA will clarify.

I agree the wording can be read different ways

Has anyone been jabbed at Medpark yet?

Have they said anything about a second jab?

I suspect in case you suffer from an extreme adverse reaction onsite and need to be admitted, they want to know if you or an insurance company will be paying.

Yes could be. I wonder if they would refuse people without insurance for that reason?

I was actually thinking they might think "This guy has insurance, so he can afford to pay, so no free vaccine for him"

  6. Some more details on these websites: (some of it is a bit technical!)

Everyone is waiting for the original study authors to reply, or the scientists who created the meta analysis studies heavily based on this study. I believe if this study is removed from the meta-analysis, there is almost zero positive data for Ivermectin.

New number. Keep your old one to help update records gradually. Always keep fully copy of every page of old passport too. Not just ID pages. Every single page. BTW. Mine elapses next year. How do you propose to replace yours. I shall use an agent at least 6 months in advance. Immediately after my 90 day report. I shall plan for 1 month turn over time

    Same as me.

Passport applications and renewals are managed by Her Majesty’s Passport Office in the UK, not the Embassy or the Consular team, so we don't have anything to add to the good advice others have shared here or the info on the HMPO website.

I am confused. You are saying it must be done in the UK??

I cannot renew my UK passport in Thailand?

I have started taking Invermectin, which could help in not getting Covid.

    Why do you believe that?

    From the manufacturer of Ivermectin:

    https://www.merck.com/news/merck-statement-on-ivermectin-use-during-the-covid-19-pandemic/

Whe WHO, the FDA, the NIH, the EMA have all recently stated that there is no good evidence for the use of Ivermectin.

    A summary from Reuters:

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-ivermectin-idUSKBN2BN2HH

There might be in the future when they do some robust trials, but not yet.

Anyone taking Ivermectin is just guessing

this medicine, as generic, is made also in china and india, and probably cheaper than japanese.

those 900k is for some 30-40k patients. Might be short, if thousands needing it for around 10 days.

The GPO makes their own and cheap azithromycin (approved recently by who) and tamiflu (that's another another generic antiviral, used in thailand for covid at the beginning of the last year).

And have any of these drugs been involved in large scale clinical trials for Covid?

If not, then the scientific description is "clutching at straws"

I live in Pattaya and travel to Bangkok every six months to see a wonderful doctor at the Red Cross Clinic, have my blood test results for CD4 and Viral Load with me, and receive my two medications for the next six months, at a total cost of 4,480 Baht. Excellent clinic and lovely staff.

I did not realise they had a doctor on site.

So, the Thai Red Cross doctor reviews your test results, writes the prescription for meds, and you collect the meds??

The TRC told me I had to bring a doctor prescription with me, but maybe I phrased the question wrong.

Getting a Pattaya hospital to give me a prescription to take away, rather than buy from the hospital pharmacy, is like getting blood out of a stone!

AZ recalled 1.7 million doses.  Probably made at their India plant.  And you call the Chinese stuff dodgy?  So far, no known deaths from the Chinese jab.  And it's been widely used globally.

The biggest risk right now is getting covid-19. All of the major vaccines have 99.9% efficacy against death and severe hospitalization.  Get the jab.  Whatever you can get.  Odds are we'll be dealing with variants for years to come.  Possibly having to get updated jabs every year.  Just like we do with the flu today.

What is your source for AZ recalling 1.7m doses?
