I am also interested in this topic though for a slightly different reason, I am English, though studying a BA here in Thailand and I want to return to the UK to do my masters. I hope that I can be accepted based on the fact I have a BA from here. I do also have 2 a levels.

You call that "bloodlust" on the part of the voters?
In a word, yes.
Just look at the bloody history of both Thaksin and the new PM apparent.
And the Thai army? The ones who overthrew Thaksin's democratically elected government? Their history is sterling, isn't it? No blood shed there.

The Thai people have indeed made their choice -unfortunately up to 16 million under the influence of cash hand-outs. Therefore the result -as usual- is undemocratic
I dissagree, I live in Bangkok and have been asking a lot of people (across a range of social spectrums) their opinions on the election. A general consensous was that TRT offered more stability and a better economy than other parties. That is why there has been a surge in PPP popularity.

With all due respect I think this is looking alright, the economy was much better under Thaksin. The Thai people have made their choices and we should respect that.

I am in a strange situation, I currently live in TL as a student and my legal (seperated) wife who is Thai lives in England. She is in the process of buying a property in BKK and requires me to sign the mortgage. I need to know at what potential risk this puts me in. I do not want anything to do with the house, but I do want to help her. What could happen if she lost her job and started defaulting on payments? She seems to think the bank would reposses the house and not be interested in me, but I am not so sure.
Thanks in advance.

An undergrad degree from any accredited university in Thailand will be enough to get on a post grad in Europe. Surely then the MA or such overides the original degree anyway, right?

Hi,
my wife lives in England and has permenant residency. If she was to visit France for a few days with some other Thai friends (who are all on the same visa) Does she (and they) need to apply for visa(s) prior to going?
Thanks in advance

I stayed at the Greenery for 7 months last year and would reccomend it highly, VERY friendly, secure and in terms of location, I thought it was fine. You can be at Suthisan MRT in minutes on a moto which takes you straight into town. I liked it being in Ladprao where there are far fewer foreigners than other areas.
The 10,000baht room was fine, fully furnished and cleaned 3 times a week. Total cost with everything for me was approx 15,000 baht.

Thanks Nemo,
I sell holidays at a call centre in England, all the calls are incoming and I could get fed numbers which I then call back and generate sales.
Thanks again.

I am moving to TL in October to study so have a non imm ED visa. I have a job in England where I could make money from Thailand (all I would need is internet and skype).
Would I be breaking the law if I generated an income which was paid into a British bank account, whilst living in Thailand.
Thanks

i have just booked what I believe to be the cheapest way from london to bkk (one way).
1) Fly Hong Kong Oasis from London to Hong Kong. (£160)
2) Travel to Macau from Hong Kong airport (£18)
3) Fly Air Asia from Macau to BKK (£45 approx)
Seems to be about £100 cheaper than any one way flights I could find.
www.skyscanner.net was a big help

After two years a thai spouse can apply for British residency (no test req'd), after that (if they choose to) they can apply for British citizenship which is the only time they would ever have to sit a test.
-
Am I right in thinking she doesn't have to take a test, she can as an alternative take a short course?

hi,
my wife has been in England since Nov 03 and now has UK residency. I want her to get a UK passport but am unsure as to the process; I am aware she now has to take some sort of test but can anyone tell me where to apply and how easy / difficult it is? Following that how straight forward is the application process?
Thanks in advace

Hi everyone,
My wife arrived in England in Nov 03, and was granted indefinate leave to remain in Nov 05, which I think is the same as residency. (I dont have her passport to hand). When would she be able to apply for a British passport, and when the passport is granted does she lose any of her 'Thai' rights? Thanks in advance. Also would she have to take 'the test'?

hi, my wife recently went to apply for a new passport at the RTE at London. I didn't go with her. They took her old passport (with visa) so now she has no passport and no visa. Wil they return the old passport with the new passport when it is ready?
