  1. He's welcome to spray my walls. I'd love to become instantly rich. Rooster
  2. This was great news to wake up to in Loei this morning. I'll try and get an interview with Mink when she gets back to Bangkok. So proud of all the successes of Thai snooker players, men and women. Rooster
  3. Reading this nonsense I went completely bonkers. Mind you I had just enjoyed my first Gorilla Glue of the day. ???? Rooster
  4. It doesn't say that he'd be treated differently at all. Your assumption, on the other hand, does indeed speak volumes about your misunderstandings about Thailand. Rooster
  5. It's a translation. The Thai says he appeared drunk. There was indeed no evidence. It's a fair translation and the use of the word apparent is reasonable in my view. Rooster
  6. "In sports, a rubber is a series that consists of an odd number of matches where a majority of wins takes the series", online info. Seems to apply to tennis too where there is an odd number of matches. The reason I used the term rubber rather than match is that it sounds more like a word the toffs would have a higher propensity to use (I mean "hi-so, him more like to say when play tennit"). Thanks for reading, Rooster Rooster.
  7. In Bangkok going anywhere except on a motorbike is pure folly. But take a change of clothes this week... Rooster
  8. Are you not aware that victims of rape or attempted rape often stay quiet, or have others act on their behalf? Rooster
  9. I loved Obama. Loved his speeches. He even, at his inauguration, had some positive words for us atheists. The 22 year ban on people with HIV started during the fear years with Reagan and continued through Bushes and Clinton, who actually signed off on it I believe. Bush junior started the process of change, it is true, but it was ultimately struck down by Obama in 2009. Thanks for reading and sorry you thought my comment was VS.... Rooster
  10. All seemed sweetness and light for NZ at one point now after the Puma's victory it seems all black. Rooster
  11. https://www.pulse-clinic.com/prep-in-pattaya Pulse Clinic, South Pattaya is one. Or as I said, try govt hospitals in Pattaya. Rooster
  12. Yes, I might have mentioned this in the article but I disagree that Thailand's response in this regard is poor though it might not be as well publicized as can be. PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is available for free in every government hospital nationwide. Private clinics including the one mentioned in the article also provide affordable PrEP to foreigners as well as Thais. Thanks for reading, Rooster
  13. Dear forum members, I was the author of the translation this morning and I have just done an update on the story from Thai Rath. The sum of money raised is amazing and will make a great difference to a young girl's life. Well done to all, Sincerely, Rooster
  14. Doesn't anyone make their own in Thailand. Is isn't very difficult if you know what you're doing. Or is it illegal? Rooster
  15. Thanks to the many readers who commented positively and enjoyed this week's column. To the reader who called me "fatuous" I'll have you know I've lost a lot of weight recently. Rooster
  16. I'm glad it's not your intention to offend. Just be careful when posting that that is not the impression that might be felt by another person. Everybody should reflect on their lives, young or old. I am someone who looks forward enormously, it's inevitable with children aged 6 and 9. But 40% of my readers are people aged over 50 and referring to matters from the last century to inform this one is not only popular with my readers but shows how we might learn from the past. At 61 it is absurd - from my perspective - to think that I can be termed "old". I recently became the oldest winner of a Scrabble tournament in Thailand's illustrious history in this game. Next week I will be competing in this highly cerebral and competitive game in the national championships against mostly Thai young people a third my age. They will give me enormous respect especially as I will be one of the favorites. I consider myself at the top of my game both mentally and physically. I am more physically fit than I was in my twenties - daily swimming and badminton, and weight lower than when I was in my thirties - and I am looking forward - luck willing - to many more years of good health. If anything I am more concerned about mental well-being - a subject I am hoping to explore in a subsequent column than anything else. It is important for me to address these issues in an ongoing capacity to keep a lid on negativity and depression both for myself and family members. Of course marijuana impacts brain activity. In 43 years usage I am well aware of its effects. Funnily enough I am using it far less since legalization - far less in recent years. For many its effects enhance life and mental activity especially creativeness. I have used it for many things and realize its potential as well as possible downsides. I have not had Covid at all and have emerged from the pandemic unscathed though I am determined to help my children and my family move on from what was a life changing event. Their future is my #1 priority. I completely agree with you that freedom of speech is essential and as a hopefully serious journalist and columnist who is determined to promote ASEAN NOW (and Thailand) here and through the translation work that I do, I fully expect to be criticized and questioned about what I write, especially when giving opinions. I shall leave it up to others about how they perceive remarks made about me but reserve the right to defend myself if I feel things have crossed a line into personal matters. As a moderator for a couple of months now I have banned no one though I have hidden some posts and asked other moderators for their opinion. I respect the moderators on this site and indeed was once (deservedly) banned myself - another story for another day. Finally this column is in its 330th edition this week with only a few weeks missed this year after bereavements and some personal issues. I am very proud of it as I am for most - certainly not all! - of the things I have done in Thailand. Thanks for reading and have a good Sunday, too. I have just finished helping my kids with their English homework, and they are getting ready for a trip and picnic in the park. They're so excited to be spending the day with dad. Bless! I'd love to stay home and watch Brentford beat Man Utd again in the highlights (I was up to 3 am luxuriating in that). Everything today is geared up to culminate in the Spurs match at Stamford Bridge at 10.30 pm. My kids have been promised great gifts if Spurs win a trophy this season. Yes, I'm always looking forward to what might, just might, happen. Rooster
  17. I think you can count yourself lucky he didn't take you up on that! BTW only one L in his surname. Here's how to remember: Jimmy' s a vile paedophile. Thanks for reading. Rooster
