  1. I don't mind you having a go at me for my content, opinions or writing. But these personal comments about my private life, my health and also ageist comments earlier in your post are unwarranted and, frankly, rather childish. You need to give ME a break or. as a recently made moderator, I will be giving you one. A long one. Final warning. Rooster
  2. Yes, so simple and so clever. Some ads today try and be clever, and fail. Thanks for reading. Rooster Thanks as usual for the positivity. Cheers, Rooster
  3. Indeed there must be few people who don't know someone or someone's friend who has not been killed or injured. In my very earliest days in Thailand a friend was killed walking down the road in Hat Yai. I thought I'd try and look after myself in memory of him after that. I've had a few close shaves - for years I had a skull on my keyring lest I forgot. Thanks for reading. Rooster
  4. Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading and taking the trouble to comment. Rooster
  5. Thanks a lot. I enjoyed the research for this piece, even though it was a tad harrowing. Thanks for reading, Rooster
  6. The only time I've been "sick" in recent years was with Covid shot number 2 and the booster - both laid me low with high fever for 24 hours. No more for me, especially now I have what's necessary to travel , the raison d'etre for getting them in the first place. Rooster
  7. Online info: Are parrotfish bad for coral? The balance of evidence to date finds strong support for the herbivory role of parrotfishes in facilitating coral recruitment, growth, and fecundity. In contrast, no net deleterious effects of corallivory have been reported for reef corals. Rooster
  8. Incidentally, did you hear about the mother superior in Pattaya I think it was who was playing darts before the ban, hit a triple 20, a single twenty then the third dart bounced out and killed her. Everyone shouted : One nun dead and eighty. Rooster
  9. I wrote this translation. To me it is totally plausible especially given the pandemic when young children were given access to parents' phones out of online learning necessity. Some older folk who post here can't fathom how kids know more than them when it comes to online activity and me, as a former school teacher and father of four, know how tricky kids can be, especially when games are involved. 10. Thanks for that, I appreciate it. This was column number 327 in six years. It's not easy to come up with original material each time.... Unless I told my best stories!!!! Maybe one day I might. Thanks for your continued interest in TWTW. Rooster
  11. At least I didn't make a mistake in the first letter. Try Twitter next time, the banality and the brevity there may be more appealing to your sensibilities. Rooster
  12. Roosters were not made to fly. We.like to peck and annoy.peoplr with our early morning calls. Thx for reading, Rooster
  13. I have never had my wings clipped by anyone. If they say they did I let them believe it. Rooster
  14. Every time I go to Hua Hin I die of boredom, so I might as well take the bus. Rooster
  15. Sometimes I feel like I'm losing the will to live with the negativity on AN. I'm also tired of calling it out. Mind you the best means of defence is attack!!! So look out for a doozy of. Column I have planned for fist week in August. Thanks for reading. Rooster
  16. I had a week off due to there being so little news.... Normal service will be resumed on Sat July 30th. Cheers, Rooster
  17. I don't miss those days. For five years now the police in Bangkok have stopped extorting money from motorcyclists in Bangkok. One positive. Rooster
  18. I really love freshly made laab, I think it's the mint. Rooster
  19. The decision to decriminalize marijuana is one of the best decisions made in Thailand in the 40+ years I have lived here. Far reaching and sensible in so many ways. The Thais and Anutin in particular are to be commended. There are already plenty of laws in place to protect the vulnerable. I hope the House committee that will report regulatory issues does not.meddle too much. Tax on producers is fine, they can afford it and still lower the price considerably for consumers. Many people will come to Thailand because of this decision. And best of all, it annoys the hell out of boozers, many of whom represent a clear and present danger to those of us who like peace....man.
