one of my long ago ex gals told me that the reason there was always a 7 11 in so many villages is that there was no banks there and the mom and pop stores rarely had enough baht to make change...so people who needed change for a 1000 or 500 baht could always count on going to 7 and being able to get change no matter how small the purchase....probably makes sense
and they end up just buying from the 7-11 now instead of the local shop. sad.

My question to you is, does it matter to you personally?
Ignoring the whole Covid thing and economic impact thing, are you able to get what you need, or has it become a hassle or difficulty that has put you off or maybe thinking of moving?

Is it worth coming to Pattaya for a semi-long (6-months) living situation, or is it a hassle getting food or going out for a beer?
I usually live in Jomtein or Pratamnak half the year. Party maybe once a week. Living on the darkside or away from the ocean is not an option for me.
Just want things to be relatively normal and not just everything shut down or people acting weird enough that staying becomes an issue. Opinions?
Is there anyone living there now in the central area who is carrying more or less as normal, or are expats just waiting to get out?
Is that construction nightmare along the main ocean drag finished yet?

My wife came from a poor family.
She worked her backside off being a waitress to fund her college education and buy a plane ticket to the USA.
She then worked even harder whilst there and paid her way through university.
Now she is a director and a shareholder in her company and is reaping the benefits of all the hard work she put in years ago.
If you want a better life then you have to work for it.
And if you don't want to work for it then don't complain when all the easy money dries up.
it's as simple as that.
for every person who makes it like that there are 5 who end up broke and poor

Well logic says business can not pay out more money than they take in for any extended length of time....
So my guess is to keep Harbor Mall from being completely void of businesses they must be dropping rents to ridiculously cheap levels....I bet some rents are under 10Gs a month, heck maybe a lot less than 10G.....
The service help is paid so little it don't matter if it's open. Same reason shop owners sit there all day with no customers.
I lived by Harbor Mall before Covid and it was empty even then. Everyone just went to the Big C instead.
I sat at Harbor Mall in a farang chicken place and it took them a half hour to make a drumstick and salad meal. Weird place. It's kid oriented and got some weird stares being a solo male walking around there.
Thai believe that empty places like these have ghosts, and they won't shop there if it's empty or there are only a few customers.

They don't have the big 2 liter bottles. I would have found it. Drank the stuff for years. Try adding some orange or fruit juice.

Hey, How you all doing?
I vacated the land of smiles last January when Covid struck back to the States. Been celibate for over a year now. ????
Is returning a good idea, or is it a no-go for the next couple years. What's the vibe on the ground?
I'm low key, lived there long term, 5-7 years, back and forth. Not a partier. Trying to decide if it's still doable, or if it's better to just forget it, and start looking at other locations.
Bitter responses and negativity are welcome. I miss you guys. ????

The sky it should be falling now? Convenience stores dropping like flies?

but air conditioning, bright clean stores and no grime is not real life or exciting, it's fake plastic stuff for people that need to feel safe and comfortable.
