Good luck with this as generally alot of it is watered down copies.

You cant even be guided by price either as the rubbish is sold iat high prices sometimes too, to fool the unsuspecting.

Reputable department stores are not selling "watered down copies"!

she contacted the delivery firm who put her in touch with the sender who told Fon she had been scammed by someone who had got her personal data.

The sender must have been the seller so the sender/seller must be the scammer.  The seller is the one who gets the money unless it was a bogus delivery firm taking the cash but, if that was the case, how would the courier be able to put the 'buyer' in touch with the sender (the seller)?

Perhaps she should have just asked the seller, with whom she was put in touch, for a refund.

I have never seen anyone using post boxes or the postman collecting from.

Just because you say that you've never seen them being used doesn't mean that they're not being used, unless you're monitoring them 24/7!  Perhaps the fact that they are there, maintained and emptied regularly is an indication that they are used.

They're there to provide a service directly linked to the sole reason for the existence of Thailand Post.  I can imagine the uproar here if TP suddenly announced that the most convenient method of posting mail in the country for many people was being discontinued.

Wife and I have UK licences which expired a few years ago. Would this still be accepted when applying for a Thai licence? or should we try renew in the UK somehow and then apply?

LTDs in Thailand will not accept years-expired Thai licences for renewal without the theory and practical tests so the chances of them accepting years-expired, i.e. invalid, UK licences to obtain a Thai licence is zero.

Best to renew online if you are still UK residents, which is a requirement.  If it is over two years since your UK driving licence expired, you could face an order to retake your driving test.

HSBC is a British company, it is not "owned by China".

If you google it the HSBC HQ is in London city.

They belong to Hong Kong Shanghai bank Corporation in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has been handed back over to China.

HSBC is a British company, based in London.   Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC.

Both HSBC and Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation are British companies, the fact that Hong Kong has been handed back to China does not make them Chinese companies or owned by China.

You are so wrong and just another here who assumes something like so many here who think they know it all.

Yes, I'm so wrong and you're so right!   From First Direct's website...

    Who can apply?

You. Probably. If you're over 18, a UK resident, haven't been declared bankrupt or registered for an Individual Voluntary Agreement in the last six years (or be in the process of doing so), and have a phone number and email address we can contact you with, we'd love to welcome you.

You should be able to transfer your existing uk bank a/c to another bank so contact First Direct on-line bank. They are member of the HSBC.

You can message me if they asked who recommended them it may help as I have been with them since they started up. Good-luck.

"Phase 3: is called the "Sand Box" and will be done from October to December in seven specified tourism provinces that are mostly by the sea. This could involve one day in quarantine "

hence the title is misleading - there would be 1 day quarantine.

And if positive test it will be much longer, including hospitalisation.

At the same time very few in thailand would have vax by themselves. So virus can be passed on them. And tourists won't be coming because of the possible outbrake

While you're picking apart the article you should bear in mind that the article clearly says that all this is nothing more than speculation at this stage, it is not policy.

The article does not say  "1 day in quarantine would be necessary", it says that "one day's quarantine could be necessary".

I appreciate that, but where on many other highways are there NO U turns....very few. So is it back to 90kph if there ARE the dreaded U turns or what?

All you have to do is to look at what speed limit is posted.

    Expand

No quite. All that's needed is to drive at a speed dictated by the prevailing traffic and road conditions. If a sign says 120 or 90, it doesn't mean that's the speed that one needs to be barging along at.

"If a sign says 120 or 90, it doesn't mean that's the speed that one needs to be barging along at".

I didn't say that it was.

At this stage, my concern is the documents for the condo as its not like what we have in UK with Land Registry. The originals are in the condo and she is threatening to burn them if she doesn't get the 3m bhat. I will need to speak to a lawyer or even inform the juristic person to see if the entry system of the building can be jammed for her.

    The documents can be replaced!

I understand all that, have lived here for some years now...but I can't see those sort of sentiments being accepted in CP boardrooms. They are an exceptionally professional organization. I can't see them tolerating food stalls clogging up their car parks for the good of the community. Like most things here probably no logical answer.

If it's a franchised shop, CP's opinions about the franchisee's use of his own property are irrelevant, they still get their royalties.

You assume that there is "no logical answer" but there may well be one that you have to ask the shop owner for that would justify his business decisions to you.  You also assume that the owner is losing business because of this but you have no way of knowing whether that is the case in any significant way.
