I live in HH and am waiting for my wife to return from overseas. She's been there several months, and because she already did one ASQ here, she won't do it again. She'd rather stay with the kids. I remain hopeful that this train wreck will eventually come to an end hence the more constructive attitude from this farang.

If Hua Hin is to open by October 15, then there needs to be a complete plan, protocol for accepting inbound foreign travelers. For instance, how would they transit Subvarabhumi enroute Hua Hin, or would only direct flights into Hua Hin be allowed? There isn't much time to sort out the logistics when one part of the country is open but the main arteries are closed.

Update. My DDNS seems to bounce back and forth between 100.x.x.x and 171.x.x.x addresses on its own one or more times per day. There are brief periods when my DDNS hostname is 100.x.x.x that I can access the NVR remotely. But I can't control how or when it decides to switch, so it's pretty useless most of the time.

I'm setting up my NVR client to be able to view the NVR remotely via my mobile phone on the AIS network. When I hit https://whatsmyip.com, I get one IP address in the 171.x.x.x range, but if I log into the HG8145 and look at the WAN configuration page, it shows a totally different WAN IP address in the 100.x.x.x range. My NVR client, using either address as the NVR target, can't get logged in. I've got port forwarding set up correctly AFAIK, having done security systems professionally since NVRs were a thing. Obviously, DDNS doesn't come into play because I'm referring to the NVR by IP first just to get it working that way. Once I figure out why I can't make the connection, I'll use the resolved name of my NVR. Traceroute, on my mobile phone to either address times out due to a large number of hops. I sort of suspect that the router managing the "outer" IP address in the 171.x.x.x range isn't forwarding ports properly. I don't have anywhere near enough Thai language skill to talk to 3BB tech support. Has anyone else run into this with 3BB/Huawei? If so, how'd you get it working? Thanks!

I was talking with a HomePro sales guy about a Samsung smart TV that I'm thinking about buying. At first he told me that it comes with a 3-year warranty. But later, he slips in that well, actually the first year is a 100% purchase price warranty, the second year covers 70% of the purchase price, and the third year covers only 60% of the purchase price. Reminds me of road hazard warranty on tires. I've never heard of that for TVs. Is that prevalent here, or is it something that HomePro does?

Sorry if this is slightly off-topic but those labels you're referring to -- are they on an exterior film? I noticed a black spot near bottom center of my windscreen. I can feel it with my finger but was afraid to start picking at it just in case the thing got bigger and next thing starts to blow off while I'm driving. After a couple of washings it didn't budge or diminish.

I got 60% all the way around and had real issues seeing the road in front of me at night. I was about to have the windscreen tint pulled off when the guy at the shop adjusted my headlights (Nissan Kicks) which helped a lot. I'm still not thrilled but then again, I don't drive a lot at night. Driving on rural highways with no street lamps solangs and motorbikes with no lights on is my biggest worry. I may still have the windscreen re-tinted at like 30%. I *do* think my car is a lot cooler with tinting.

This is exactly what we want for the house we're building in Chiang Rai. Do you have any points of contact in that neck of the woods?

I opened up an account with a different bank (KBank, actually) and moved about half my savings there. The silver lining is that KBank has easy mobile payments for my utilities - PEA and PWA. Bangkok Bank doesn't have a payment option for those guys.

We got to the crux of what triggered her, which was my apparent dismissal of a request to check my spam folder for a possible email from Korean Air. My lack of timely "jumping right on it" when she asked me was interpreted as "I don't give a flat damn about her wants and needs." Nothing could be further from the truth. I was intently focused on the 15-hour drive on the wrong side of the road, not my spam folder. And then we <deleted>. For hours.

Reminds me of a couple weeks ago when my Thai wife and I made a mad dash from our home in Khao Kalok beach to Chiang Rai to see her parents and pick up my dog that was staying there. I'm really new, not here even 6 months yet, so I can't utter a Thai sound that any Thai understands. We got into a big blowout somewhere before Phaya and she stopped talking to me. About 30 minutes later we hit a checkpoint. I roll the window down and the cop asks me something in Thai. I assumed he was asking where I was going and where I was headed, so I told him in English. Well, he didn't understand me at all but he sees my wife sitting in the passenger seat. He asks in broken English does she speak Thai. She doesn't answer, so I tell him, yeah, she speaks Thai. He and his buddies all laughed and asked us to get out of the car and go over to some COVID monitoring people under the tent. I whip out my J&J vaccine card that I snagged on my mad dash to the USA last month and, of course, she isn't vaccinated and was carrying on a conversation with some other folks there. They sent us on our way. Still, we hadn't spoken a word to each other. I drive another 2 or 3 hours after nightfall and finally make it to Ban Mae Tam which is about 50 KM east of Chiang Rai. The roads are unlighted and I can't see sh*t. And, because it's supposed to be a surprise, the house lights aren't on. They live off the main road but the address isn't on Google, so I always plug in "Dr Witts" house, which *is* on Google. I managed to get us into the ballpark and still she isn't talking so is of no help in me finding the place in the dark. Circled the block twice before I finally located it and pulled into the driveway where my dog awaited on the other side of the gate. Long story short, I left her there and go back to Khao Kalok with my dog, when she called me and reminded me we have a 9 PM curfew. So returned to her parents' house and eventually we talked it out and, well, you can figure out the rest.
