Thanks guys, yea, Thai wife and kids. It's just that we heard today and the deadline's approaching fast. Maybe apply before Oct 1st and money can be withdrawn on receipt of the visa (have had a few of these before and just withdrew the money after the interview, times they are a changing).

Just spoke to the solicitor regarding getting another Non "O" visa and he says that after 1st October you have to keep the 400k in your account for 3 months.
I've tried looking through the forum for confirmation of this but can't see anything.
Can anyone confirm this?

Like M_S above my translator gave lots of adjectives:
depraved, ignoble [?], miscreant, nefarious, obscene, scurrilous, scurvy [?], slavish, squalid, ungenerous, vile, vulgar, base, beastly, blackhearted, caddish.
Lots to choose from there...

Thanks Terry
Not to worry, I've got broad shoulders and can take it.
I've seen some of the replies on the new visa regulations posting - nothing is held back. It's kind of funny and sad at the same time.

Hiya Dooin
My name is Mick from Bangkok (surprise, surprise) and I've been in Thailand for just over six years now.
I work on the internet all day almost every day and I can't believe that it took a military coup for me to find such an interesting and useful web site like ThaiVisa.com.
Cheers

Thanks Pete - I never thought of Modern Form, it's only 5 minutes from where I live. I'll check it out.

Hi
You may have guessed by the topic title/description that I would like to buy a cooker in Bangkok.
I have two young daughters so it needs to have a 'cool touch' oven door.
Preferably it would have a grill as well.
Any ideas gratefully received.
All the best

Just back from Silom. Pretty normal there, people shopping etc. Some soldiers with yellow ribbons on their guns stationed under the bridge on Rama IV/Bang Na expressway (coming from Northern Ireland that seems normal also - apart from the yellow ribbons!)

My wife in insisting on going into work in Silom to pay some staff wages. Anyone think that there will be a problem driving into Silom today?

Yea, take Rama 9 which passes by the new airport and becomes at some point the #7 highway. Just keep going for 1.5 hours (more or less depending on the number of lorries further down the motorway) and follow the signs for Pattaya.
They're working on increasing the number of lanes at the moment so traffic can be dodgy.
You can go down Bangna-Trat on the overhead expressway but then you have to contend with Chon Buri (unless you exxit early and join the #7, but it's easy from Rama #3 to Rama #9 so I'd just go that way).
That's my 2 cents worth anyway.

I don't know about the price of second hand cars being 'artifically high'. I just paid off my second hand Volvo S80 which I bought for 1.7m in 2003.
I was thinking about selling it and buying something with 7 seats (got 2 young daughters) and was told that it's now worth 700k - what the heck happened?
Have to keep it now (I like it anyway).

I've done it in the (Kodak?) photo shop at the top (about floor 5 or 6 near the mobile phone area) of Central Bang Na.
They do quite a good job, taking still images out of the tape to print on the CD and case cover.
