  1. The debate rages on...somewhat pointlessly IMO. This link fairly well covers the issue/s : https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/02/china/vaccines-sinovac-sinopharm-intl-hnk-dst/index.html
  2. For anyone reading this there is an important lesson to be learned. Always jump start by connecting the negative jumper cable lead to somewhere on the engine block...never to the negative terminal on the battery ! The ECU modules in modern vehicles can get very touchy feely otherwise because of a sensor that is part of the battery charge regulator and connecting the negative to the battery can give voltage spike.
  3. I would agree. The predominance of efforts to discredit entirely Sinopharm , Sinovac, SputnikV has buried any easily obtainable or honest evidence of even residual efficacy of these vaccine options against the current "demon" of the Delta variant in favor of ? Is commercialism taking wicked advantage of paranoid subscription to some quasi holy grail? So much derision about supplementary substances despite demonstrable albeit marginal assistance in contrast to territorial acquisition of vaccines in excess of need, tokenist distributions of same with political overtones, proliferation of distortional social conspiracy claims or accusations ect ect ect. A component of all of that is the prerequisite that "China" is telling lies ! Why so? Given the draconian power of the CCP would it be to an advantage to do so in the longer term? Covid-19 has evolved to be a significant problem disease with global distribution. The resulting focus on social/individual reaction has been a major distraction from the historical, new, and current ongoing other humanitarian calamities even when those are exacerbated by the pandemic !
  4. Not so long ago a dog came wandering about obviously hungry. Then I and a neighbor spotted that all four feet were crushed and it was walking on exposed bone. I think it was suposed to be food for someone and despite the incredibly cruel injuries had escaped and due to shock could not feel pain. I called a Vet Clinic and asked if it could be put down? The answer was "No". But I could amputate ? Sadly it wandered off never to be seen again unless the perpetrator tracked it down and took it away. On another occasion took a soi dog that had an obviously broken back to a vet in the hope of being put down. "No no. I think it only has "spinal cord shock and will recover". That was after several jabs with a sharp object to elicit any response. My daughter took it home and it died about a month later from infection on it's rear legs due to dragging itself around. I have found Vets are also not happy to sterilize male cats but are happy to sterilize females.
  5. That a bit of liberty with context. All volunteers for such as a new vaccine are guinea pigs in a sense. I would think Prayut's statement was simply to assure people that no surreptitious attempts would be made to inflict an un-trialed vaccine on the unsuspecting public. An unnecessary statement other than an attempt to distinguish the Thai regime from North Korea's perhaps?
  6. Been there, done that with Brazilian wife ! Definition of "bat crazy " ! By comparison Thai wife just gets a bit "excited" at very rare moments.
  7. The general opinion from a food safety perspective is that it is "ok" to re-freeze raw meat so long as it has been kept well refridgerated in between time/s. But it comes at the cost of deterioration in quality . Re-freezing cooked food is NOT considered a good idea because it is more likely it has experienced a period of time at room temps allowing a build up of bacterial content.
  8. Which means that the Embassy (theoretically) had established good cause for authorization and probably an independant payment to the Hospital . Interestingly in the question of Thai Wills there is no prolonged probate period in most cases.
  9. lol. Me too ! If an aged "employer" has the means to supply, maintain and replenish vehicles at own cost to domestic employees at that extent alone I would bet the employees have at least some idea of financial capacity.....
  10. Every time I read any list of covid symptoms it reaffirms my honest belief that I and many others around my area have already suffered from the original variant back in January 2020. Both my wife and I about 2 weeks apart suffered a persistent hacking dry cough, mild fever and headche for a few days, aching limbs and feeling exhausted. I went to clinic where the Doc prescribed some expectorant meds, a very effective cough med, and gave me shot of something in the buttocks all of which plus paracetemol did help. One interesting symptom I see listed is the "belt across the stomach " feeling. What I experienced was a pain that slowly moved (not expanded) across my abdomen from left to right. It was quite intense and hurt like hell when I coughed. Initially I thought maybe muscle strain from coughing but when it started to move I wondered about appendicitis . However it slowly started to lessen after 10 days or so which was a relief. Overall the bout of whatever it was took 2 weeks to dissipate except for the cough and the fatigue which took near a month to go. In my wife's case she suffered the same except for the stomach pains but had severe chest/lung pain which led to a chest x-ray that showed no fluid congestion but some inflammation. All around us others reported similar. I am not trying to declare it was covid but genuinely have my suspicions.
  11. I believe the usual procedure is the Consulate or Embassy relevant to nationality is informed in an attempt to locate next of kin. In one case I know the Hospital would not release the body until payment was made AND kept applying a daily mortuary charge. Sadly this guy had a Thai partner who was denied access to his bank funds which were adequate to pay. Eventually son from Europe came and sorted it. Perhaps even for a solo individual a Thai registered Will would be helpful ? An Executor does not have to next of kin.
  12. Am venturing off to Makro tomorow. Will be interested to see. Don't usually buy much in the way of imported items.

  14. I know some/many airsoft items can look the part but what is shown in the picture does look remarkably like the real thing. Airguns are not actually illegal in Thailand as far as I know.
  15. Add Laos to that. 20 million bombs dropped which 30% never exploded at the time but are still killing and maiming every year on top of the 50,000 who died at the time. 98% were civilians. The Pol Pot regime genocide activities were abominable and deservedly held to account where possible. But it was in their own back yard. Other instances of gross infliction have been more often in someone else's. https://www.pri.org/stories/2014-12-25/deadly-debris-us-legacy-unexploded-remnants-war
  16. There are at least a couple of electric bikes that I think are also locally made. One I have seen is a SWAG . Probably go un-noticed because they are quiet? ????
  17. Does your objection extend to the prolific mockery of Thai Buddhist beliefs ? If you are a genuine Christian then should you not express care and concern for all including Trump? Or can devout Christians happily continue historical discrimination?
  18. Superiority...derived from wealth or whatever social position can be derived from allegiance to either option !
  19. The will to change must come from the imperative need to change. Philosophical whims are the trade of political aspirants that for the moment of expedient advantage on both sides can be exchanged for ....cash !
  20. Who says corporate collusion and co-operation is dead ? Yippeee !
  21. And in Australia the presence of two new cases prompts a shut down in Canberra and immediately MP's head for the airport to go home? 555 I just hope someone will eventually provide a single explanative word for the >>>> being distributed to the world.
  22. I am neither a denialist or pessimist. I am a realist. Nature gives no room to compensation measures in favour of a species. A species must adapt and compensate to what nature presents. If a species demonstrates the capacity to effect nature to the degree of disturbance then nature delivers the result regardless . As a self declared species of supreme superior intelligence that continues to deny the equivalent degree of self imposed capacity for self destruction in the pursuit of indulgence to that declaration of superior intelligence while dogmatically refusing to acknowledge the folly of it ......? Experiment soon over !
  23. To be honest I do not understand your comment. Yes LPG is a clean burning fuel other than co2 output. But in an internal combustion engine is still inefficient . A constant burn electric generation plant is somewhat more efficient in conversion to electric . But either one adds to the atmospheric build of carbon emissions. Solar or other alternatives have their own environmental pollution issues but dramatically less in terms of the demon atmospheric carbon problem. The best long term solution IMO is to eliminate as much as possible the private automobile proliferation and provide efficient mass public transport. I do believe that eventually the world will be forced to that one way or another on a scale most would consider impossible. That is if in the longer term humanity has not reduced itself to a primitive state of simple survival in much smaller numbers.
