  1. Advise for anyone wanting to use a visa agent...DONT..I was looking at obtaining a Settlement visa to the UK for my Thai wife and was told by Key Visa in Pattaya that it would be highly unlikely that I would get one without there help... but with there help I would get one, but it would come with a price 45,000 Baht not including visa fee 34,000 baht... total 79,000 baht.. not a chance I was going to pay that, So with the help of this forum I managed to apply for the visa myself and after submitting the application I got the 2 year settlement visa 5 days later without any problem. So a big thank you to you all for your help and advise you saved me 45,000 baht...I feel so sorry for those people who get conned by these people how do they get away with it...Special thanks to scouser (Davies KHAN) for all your help.

  4. Even if you had not been born British "otherwise than by descent", your adoption by a British couple would have made you so. I would say that your adoption certificate is fine, but perhaps clarify this with the embassy consular section prior to travelling.

I really don't know about such matters, but is it also possible to get hold of your original birth certificate? Which document did you use when you applied for your first British passport?

    Scouse.

    Hi Scouse,

The document I used for my passport was my small copy of my birth certificate...I was also told that I cannot get a original birth certificate, as the details have changed after my adoption ie my name and the name of my parants. I will keep you informed as to how I get on.

    Many thanks again

  5. My fiancée is expecting our first Child in April this year. Our child will be born in Thailand, but I would like to register my child for a British passport, my fiancée is Thai and I’m British and so are my parents. I looked on the British Embassy website and the documentation I need to show them is my British passport and my long birth certificate. But the problem I have is that I’m adopted and I only have a small length birth certificate. So I spoke to Registrar office in the UK and they said that all I would need is my adoption certificate which they sent me. So I’m writing to just to clarify if this is the case as I don’t want to go all the way to Thailand and then find out different. Could anyone please advise me on this matter?

    Many thanks

  7. Both a fiancée visa and a spouse visa cost £500 (rising to £515, probably in April). The spouse visa is valid for two years, and it is for this period of two years for which you would have to make an application to the Home Office if your girlfriend were to travel to the UK on a fiancée visa. If you marry in Thailand, she'd get the two years from the word go, thereby saving the cost of the application to the Home Office for the extension to a fiancée visa.

Providing that your girlfriend is not required to attend for an interview, she might get her visa within a week of applying for it. Likewise, I believe it takes the embassy about a week to issue a British passport, too. Don't forget that you'll need to show your "long" birth certificate to support your child's passport application.

    Scouse.

Many Thanks again for your help scouse,

Now that my girlfriend has already once been issued a touriest visa and did not overstay, does this make future applications easier for my girlfriend and possibly more successful.

    Thanks again

  8. You won't need to have your child registered as a British citizen. Providing that you are British otehrwise than by descent and will be named on the child's birth certificate, then s/he will have an automatic entitlement to British citizenship and you will be able to simply apply for a passport at the British embassy.

A fiancée visa will be valid for six months and you would be expected to marry in the UK during that time. Alternatively, you can marry in Thailand and apply for a spouse settlement visa instead. Marrying in Thailand does mean that you have to make one less application to the Home Office, saving £395.00

    Scouse.

Many thanks for your help scouse, just a few more questions for you, how much does it cost for a spouse visa and how long does it last and how much does it cost for a fiancee Visa. Also what are the timescales on obtaining such visas and how long does it usually take to obtain a passport for my child after the application has been submitted as i'm on a limited time scale in Thailand to get things sorted out (4 weeks). Also if we got married in Thailand how would it save me a further application and saving me £395 sorry for all the questions it's just that I don't understand the whole process.

Many thanks again for your help scouse

  9. My fiancee has just returned back to Thailand after a six-month stay in the UK on a tourist visa (Returned back 10th Jan 08). She is pregnant and is expected to have our first child around the 6thApril 08. I would like some advice please on how I would go about registering my child for British citizenship and the sort of costs incurred. Also

When I return back to Thailand in April I would be looking at obtaining a visa for my fiancee to return back to the UK with our child as we intend to get married within the next 9 months. What sort of visa should I apply for?? a fiancee visa, or tourist visa and would she have to stay in Thailand for a certain length of time before she can be issued another visa?? Also what would make the whole process easier getting married in England or getting married in Thailand.

Help and advice on these matters would be greatly appreciated as you can appreciate it's an extremely stressful and worrying time as my biggest nightmare would be having to leave my fiancee and child in Thailand come the end of April.

    Many thanks

  10. Could anybody please help me,

I am 37 years old, I meet my TGF back in July last year; she is 19 years old 20 in October and works in my friends bar in Pattaya. I stayed with her for 4 weeks back in July last year, went back and spent 4 weeks with her in January this year and spent another 5 weeks with her this April.

I am going back in July to spend 2-3 weeks with her, but this time I’m looking at obtaining a visitor’s visa for her to come back to the UK for a holiday with me.

I do not own my own home as I live with my parents, but we have the room to accommodate her and I have a letter of support from my parent’s and copies of deeds ECT,

I have compiled a file showing my,

Last 12 months bank statements and savings,

    Last 2 years wage slips,

    P 60

Itemized phone bills showing calls to Thailand,

Photos of me and her family,

    Photos of my home,

Letter of support from parents re her staying at our home in the UK,

    Deeds of the house,

Letter from work stating current 18 years employment with “Social Services”

    Copies of my passport

What are the chances of me obtaining a visa for my TGF?? And what other documents should I submit???

Also Should I use a visa agent or should I apply direct to the Embassy??

Will I also need to take out medical insurance for my TGF to come to the UK?

Could anyone please, please give me any advice?

    Many Many thanks

  11. Hello Mat, maybe I forgot to mention that the embassy are issuing visitors visas at a percentage rate of 2.3% which is far to low a % for me to even attempt as I give money back guarantee.

To obtain a visitors visa she would have to show the following.

    * Evidence of her quality employment such as a bank or government dept.

    * 12 months bank statements showing her salary going in at the end of each month.

    * Evidence of contact with you such as e-mails- tel bills, - money receipts sent.

    * Evidence of her house / land ownership.

    * Evidence of her education standards.

    *

The chances are very...very low indeed.

With fiancée visa the requirements are less and the chances are 100%.

Is this at all true?? And could anybody recommend a visa agent I could use or should I apply without the use of an agent??

    Many thanks
