  1. In my helmets the holes do go through the polystyrene and exit into the lining which seems counter productive. I wonder if good (expensive) helmets have a better method? My helmets are both quite expensive as Thai helmets go but lower end price wise compared to Arai, Shoei, Schuberth etc. If no airflow I don't think wind noise would be a problem.
  2. Serious issue. Poor reporting, translation or geographical knowledge. I am certain East Kalimantan is not on the island of Java.
  3. We use tap water for cleaning teeth too. When my brother visited pre covid he always used bottled water as his dr told him to and as I sometimes did when travelling, a long time ago. We're rural small town so not city cleanliness standards. Only 500m from the PWA. At yai's in the village we drilled a bore. The tap water there was visibly dirty coming out of the tap. Our tap water is pumped from The Mekong. Our blue bottled drinking water is pumped from The Mekong. I doubt it's filtered sufficiently to get rid of all the pesticides etc from upstream... But I am not convinced the supermarket water is much better.
  4. Snakes attacking at face level or falling on you from bamboo or trees! Mrs had me out looking for mushrooms yesterday. Put my shoes on and a wide brimmed cane? hat (and long pants and shirt) but eyes were 95% on the ground not scanning above and around. Motorbike boots and take more notice of surroundings next time. Thanks for the warning.
  5. We always drink bottled water, usually from the big blue bottles. Just read another thread here about dirt etc in the piped in tap water from the mains. We get some dirt build up in toilets and cisterns so it is visible. Also have killed some cheap aquarium fish using tap water. They're ok with bottled water. It has occured to me in the past that all our cooking water for rice, soup, veges etc is the tap water. I suppose I should insist on using the blue bottled water. What water do you lot use for cooking?
  6. 2 helmets. Both have vents open; front top, chin and rear. All vents have holes into the helmet but inside the lining (except the chin vent...). I feel no air flow over my scalp either. Maybe because the wind is close to blood temperature or blocked by the lining or both? Have to wait for a cold day and test this theory.
  7. I need new bifocals or multi-focals? In Nongkhai city or provence. Udon if I must. Any recent purchase reviews/recommendations, please?
  8. Ah ha. Vulcanising cement and press. Ok. And the press is hot. Thanks. I've no idea on price. Haven't done the tyre in the op. The 2nd hand ute tyre was vulcanised as a seal the deal for me to buy it...
  9. Afaik vulcanising uses heat (and glue?) to more permanently and securely attach the patch to the inside of the tyre, as opposed to glue only. Imo those plugs are only for emergency use to get slowly home or to a repair shop. I don't doubt that they may last years. Or may not leading to a perhaps rapid loss of air. Not worth the risk imo. I found one on the edge of the tread and sidewall of my 2nd hand ute. I hadn't noticed it when I bought it. No idea how long it had been there. I had been driving around up to 120 km/h. When I noticed it I took it to a private tyre shop with laser alignment etc. He couldn't fix it so bought a 2nd hand tyre on which he vulcanised 1 hole before fitting. Took 20 minutes of heat.
  10. Toyota service pointed out to Mrs a nail in the rear tyre, not losing air. She waited til I was driving home before telling me. I started looking for a place to stop and put the spare on before taking the nailed tyre to "real" tyre shop I know to get it vulcanised and put back on car. My idea caused arguments in the car. Yai was in the back. I obeyed instructions to stop at a ba yang shop, one of the smallest I've seen. (Easier than arguing and helped retain what sanity I have left). The ba yang shop removed the tyre and did a good job gluing a patch inside and refitted tyre. It's still holding air 3 or 4 weeks later. I thought when I had time I'd take it to be vulcanised (50 kms away) but that hasn't happened. Should I bother? {As I typed this I had an answer pop into my noggin; while it's on the back don't worry but if/when it gets swapped to front (rotated to reduce wear) get it vulcanised}.
  11. Thanks all. 13 yo errand runner sums it up. An excuse for another village hack. I don't think she's even sat on it yet, let alone done an errand. Yai's appropriated it for going to tap the rubber and get to the card/hilo games...
  12. I am in rural Nongkhai. Pink ID and certificate of 2 previous Pfizer vaccinations 6 months ago got me a Pfizer booster at the local hospital. The booster must be mRna? so couldn't get AZ. They said I could have Moderna if I went to Bkk. They only had Pfizer available for booster so that's what I got. 2 weeks ago now. Just in time for Songkran.
  13. Sorry haven't followed up on this. Party to and abetting this madness? No. I told them it was a stupid idea and thing to do. Yes, nonsense. I was too arrogant/naive/forgetful and thought they'd listen to me! Like they haven't in the past when I said their 18 yo should get his licence or when I told them not to let the 15/16? Yo ride his wave without a rear brake. Went to their place ready to give them my advice, fino, thanks people. <deleted>? A brand new Yamaha Finn 115i FI Modern City Unified Braking System! (A wave by another manufacturer). But, but you said auto...!? Turns out they video called from the shop to yai. Red, black, fino, scoopy?... Yai said she was scared she wouldn't make it to the rubber plantation on one of those. Not enough ground clearance. So they bought the finn. At least they listen to someone. Nice helmet came with it. Niece not home so idk reaction.
  14. Likewise. I think I read that scoopy has an under square (longer stroke) engine too. More torque for fewer revs... Would that even be noticeable on a cvt scooter?
