  1. Without judicial activism, most government positions in the United States would still be held by white men. Many of those quoting Martin Luther King these days, are the kind of racists that he fought most of his life. The electorate in the United States is so prejudiced and stupid that black and female candidates have little chance of being appointed or elected based solely on qualifications.
  2. "2 unnecessary trips". God forbid that we overwork those servers. I only tip once anyway, as I am leaving after the last drink. Some people want to manufacture problems where there are none.
  3. Since I am not legally allowed to react as a Thai would (ten on one, beating and kicking), I suppose I would smile and walk away.
  4. Surgery has absolutely NOTHING to do with the highest court in the land. The illustration you provide is specious and completely invalid. Comparing apples and oranges. No one is concerned about the race and gender makeup of a medical team. In politics, blacks and women have been excluded for so much of our history that it is ludicrous to complain when a candidate is deliberately chosen because of her race and gender even though her qualifications are clearly superior.
  5. It never seemed to bother you conservatives when the court was ALL WHITE and ALL MALE.
  6. He can be pardoned by the King and that is a likely scenario. He won't go to prison if he's pardoned.
  7. If what is being sold contains no THC.......what is the point.? The idea behind cannabis is to get high.
  8. Execution of coup leaders for treason would end the coup cycle once and for all. Thailand does not even need a military. They are surrounded by countries who have no intention of invading them. Thailand should follow the Costa Rica model and put the military budget into a Universal Healthcare system.
  9. This display of firepower should discourage those hordes of invaders from Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. One can never be too careful. ????
  10. Typical Thai response to a problem that other countries resolve without violence. "Yu no Thai, yu no unnerstan"
  11. ALWAYS use an agent. Parking large sums of money in a Thai bank is unnecessary. If your income is 65 thousand baht or more, you owe it to yourself to avoid the "money in the bank" method.
  12. No, but I got better than I deserved. I made every mistake possible but still retired in Thailand with a decent income.
  13. I don't think Putin CARES. That's what makes him so dangerous. Even Nikita Khrushchev blinked when confronted by the possibility of nuclear war. The Ex-KGB Putin is basically existing in a criminal universe where morality is turned on its head. That's the definition of sociopath.
  14. They need to know where you are at all times. Anyone with a handle like "Red Army" is obviously a threat to the established order. ????
  15. Putin is long overdue for a bullet through the head. He won't go out like Hitler....more like Saddam Hussein.
  16. Only had problems with the old system. It never worked for me. I have not tried the new system, it's too easy to walk the three blocks to Chonburi Immigration.
  17. Credit where credit is due. Many of my friends in Pattaya are using the new system. I live so close to Immigration that I think I will continue to go in person. Never any problems when I do that. ????
  18. A local Pattaya woman is from Donbass and she assures me that this area welcomes the Russians. They are currently being abused by neo-Nazis. Comments?
  19. ThaI corruption benefits me. I do not have the means to put an absurd amount of money into a shoddy Thai bank, so I have to use the "brown envelope" method every year to get an extension of stay. It's more expensive than the previous method, but it is the only way I can stay here. They have moved the markers from the time I first came here six years ago and it's obvious they don't want us here because they can't arrive at a sane, inexpensive method of renewing an extension of stay. I qualify by monthly income with money left over, but maintaining an 800 K bank balance is out of the question.
  20. Not at all surprising. The military mindset is right in lockstep with the way the CCP thinks.
  21. I am beginning to feel that Thailand should simply accept permanent military rule. As long as there is a military, you will have coups. Costa Rica solved this problem many years ago by abolishing a standing military. When none of the neighboring countries wants to invade you, it just makes sense. It is pointless to keep electing governments only to have them tossed out of office the moment one of the "elite" is dissatisfied. Have local elections but let the military run the government. Democracy can never be understood by Thai people.
