Wife is dead set on moving to London

Interesting, but I would really like to know what you think a comfortable monthly retirement wage would be in the UK. -

No hate from me. I understand that money is the main factor in attracting Thai women. When you remove them from Thailand, you are then subject to western laws which favor women in all cases. Plus, (as already noted) many of the men in her age group will be as well-compensated as hubby. Best to RETIRE in places like Thailand and the Philippines and avoid the hassles of dealing with reality. Ride the train until it crashes. -

I would think at least 4 thousand USD for UK. I live in Thailand on. 2680 USD a month. -

Brits generally don’t appreciate the fact that many people in the world would give anything to live in the UK. Same situation with the USA. I am satisfied with having retired in Thailand with a nice retirement income and a Thai girlfriend who wouldn’t think of leaving Thailand. I am a big fan of the UK but could not possibly afford to live there. -
Do you believe in Tradition and why
Nickelbeer replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Tradition is best left to religion. That’s where it works best. In all other spheres of endeavor, tradition only destroys efficiency and progress. -
Thaksin and Yingluck can’t resist Penang food

Hope to see them both back in Thailand and back in office. My favorites among all the regimes. I DID like the Abhisit regime. He was the ONLY one who ever mentioned making Thailand a welfare state. Badly needed. -
Lispril / Zestril / Lisinopril BP med Supply Chain Nightmare

Ocean Pharmacy has it, also the pharmacy next door to Chanya Clinic on Theppraya. -
You are correct, but I was responding to a legitimate question. The visa situation has GOT to be the worst kept secret in Thailand. They say one thing and do another. My monthly income is far more than 65 thousand baht. ALL of my income is spent here except the credit card bills I pay. No one is getting ripped off or defrauded. My income is easily verifiable, it is just not held hostage in a Thai bank. When I first came here in 2015, Immigration told me they didn’t care WHERE my money was, just so I had the required amount. Then they changed the rules. I consider myself to have been “grandfathered” into the system that was in place when I came here.

That’s how MY visa agent does it. I can’t speak for anyone else. Her method appears to be a direct payment to Immigration of “tea money”. No money ever appears in my BKK Bank account, but she told me I needed to have one. I think she may have a special relationship with one or two top IO officers. I don’t ask questions, I just pay up and let her do the heavy lifting. The less I know, the better.

Lispril / Zestril / Lisinopril BP med Supply Chain Nightmare
Nickelbeer replied to Jingthing's topic in Health and Medicine
Lisinopril has a number of unwanted side effects, such as arm and neck pain and a dry nagging cough. My doctor switched me to Losartan. I take 100 mg every morning and it seems to keep my blood pressure within the normal parameters until bedtime. Your mileage may vary. I have noticed no side effects from use of Losartan and I have been using it nearly seven years, now. -
What Would You Do If You Had More Money

I would be living in Indonesia. -
Conduit for brown envelope. Some members of Asean Now insist that agents temporarily place money into accounts so that IO can see it. That has never been done with my account, as I have a running tally of every transaction. My agent merely seems to be the “delivery boy” for the brown envelope. They drive me to Immigration and I give them my Passport, bank book and 14 thousand baht and in several weeks, my passport and bank book are returned with my extension of stay. I don’t ask any questions. I only know that I cannot do the renewal of extension by myself. Happy to have my agent/landlady handle all the details.
