I'm really over old idiots in Thailand
Nickelbeer replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
The first line of attack of a gay supremacist is to accuse their detractors af being closet gays. Some people just naturally hate anyone who doesn't look and behave exactly as they do. I see as much of this kind of thinking among gays, as any other group of people. I like folks who mind their own business. It's always kept me out of trouble. Homosexuals do not threaten me. We have absolutely nothing in common. I am quite willing to let everyone find their own path to happiness, as long as it's legal and moral. At age 71, I am unlikely to change my way of thinking. ???? -

I'm really over Thailand. If I needed fascism, I would have voted for Trump. I have no interest in anyone else's sexual orientation. It doesn't concern me. What DOES concern me is the constantly shifting position of Thai Immigration. The government does not want farangs who are not independently wealthy. The fact that this country has NOTHING to attract those "golden gooses", is far above the ability of a Thai bureaucrat to understand. -
Thailand has traditionally been a retirement haven for those with modest retirement income. No truly wealthy individual would move here with all of the draconian laws aimed at curtailing what you can say, write or consume. The wealthy head for enlightened European destinations.

Racism and xenophobia is part of the much vaunted "Thai culture". The official party line is "deal with it or get out."

Brits who run down the NHS, ought to experience life as an American. Good luck on healthcare, you'll need it. Britain has something worth preserving and many Brits do not appreciate it. -

All my 90 day reports are done in person. Never asked for a TM30. -
Heartbroken daughter desperate to fly bedridden dad home from Thailand

Only USA lawmakers complain about the NHS. People who know nothing about it. One such idiot was up talking about how "filthy". the hospitals were. Moron confuses "Old" with "filthy". There IS a difference. -

Health insurance in Thailand is nothing but a scam. You pay exorbitant rates for insurance that may or may not cover any event. The preexisting conditions rules would disqualify most of us. -

Odd that an impoverished country like the Philippines can provide a National Health Insurance Program, while Thailand cannot. Some things beggar belief. -
Does anyone know about the availability of monoclonal antibody treatment in Thailand? It is reportedly very effective in the USA.

Worst Joke Ever 2024
Nickelbeer replied to warfie's topic in Jokes - Puzzles and Riddles - Make My Day!
Long time friends Sylvia & Wanda meet up in Heaven!! SYLVIA: Hi! Wanda. WANDA: Hi! Sylvia. How'd you die?... SYLVIA: I froze to death. WANDA: How horrible! SYLVIA: It wasn't so bad. After I quit shaking from the cold, I began to get warm & sleepy, and finally died a peaceful death. What about you? WANDA: I died of a massive heart attack. I suspected that my husband was cheating, so I came home early to catch him in the act. But instead, I found him all by himself in the den watching TV. SYLVIA: So, what happened? WANDA: I was so sure there was another woman there somewhere that I started running all over the house looking. I ran up into the attic and searched, and down into the basement. Then I went through every closet and checked under all the beds. I kept this up until I had looked everywhere, and finally I became so exhausted that I just keeled over with a heart attack and died. SYLVIA: Too bad you didn't look in the freezer -- we'd both still be alive. -

Thai Government Affirms Ongoing Police Reform Process
Nickelbeer replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
This cannot be a good thing. The system works well as it is. They should leave it alone. Everytime they make an "improvement" they tear down the whole house of cards. -
I got nothing but an acknowledgement that I had registered. Glad that I went ahead and applied directly with BPH. Got an SMS the next day and vaccinated the day after that.

First vaccination in Pattaya today.
Nickelbeer replied to Nickelbeer's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Astrazeneca is probably equal to Pfizer or at least close. The brand Pfizer was printed right on the sheet that I got, so I guess I made the cut. I certainly will be early again on September 16th. I don't want to take a chance on getting something I didn't plan on. -
Finally got my first Pfizer vaccination for Covid 19. I was scheduled to get mine at the Central Festival Mall beginning at 12 noon. I got there early. It was a real hassle getting to the sixth floor since most of the elevators in the mall were blocked off. I found some open near the back of the mall and headed upstairs. When I got there, the line was all the way around the floor. I showed them my SMS and my Passport and they gave me a short form to fill out and I got in line. Fortunately, it moved very quickly. I was feeling sorry for one white-haired old guy in front of me, who was having a tough time standing up. We talked a little bit and it turns out we were the same age. The queue was very well managed and worked very smoothly and professionally. All in, it took a couple of hours, and my second shot is scheduled for September 16th. Looks like the attendees were about 99 percent white Americans. The USA was very generous in donating the Pfizer vaccine to Thailand. They could have vaccinated all their "elites" and still have plenty leftover. I think there are about 16 thousand Americans living in Thailand.

TAT still aiming for ONE MILLION foreign tourists this year
Nickelbeer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I am "aiming" to receive a cashier's check for one million dollars from John Bearsford Tipton. That goal is roughly equal to the TAT goal, in terms of realism. -
Vietnam Visa update - big changes
Nickelbeer replied to La Quenta's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
The difference in the American experience and the norm in Asia, is that those trying to come into America have less income than the norm and even the lower income expats coming to Asia have a HIGHER income than the locals. This is a potential win/win situation for all concerned, but there is always government to throw a spanner into the works. -
Do you object to being asked if you’ve been vaccinated?
Nickelbeer replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I have no objection to being asked. I have an objection to not having an OPPORTUNITY to get vaccinated. I don't want Chinese jabs, I want Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZenica. No inferior substitutes accepted. I will pay if necessary, but don't ask unless you are willing to vaccinate me.
