@MJCM will this be a DIY or Contractor solar system?

DIY will be a LOT cheaper and a zillion times more fun (if that's what floats your boat of course).

In our case we were required to use an approved / licensed installation company.

Possibly because of the size of the system, or because of the grid-tie, or perhaps both.

Except for one metric, links to evidence and support for arguments. If you do a count I believe you will find a large disparity between the left and the right.

    I agree.

But I also note than when the "bad guys" do give evidence the "good guys" say 'give us more', 'do a poll', or 'we don't believe your evidence'.

Many of my links to the Guardian or the BBC have been derided or taken out of context by the "good guys"; none of the "bad guys" has ever done that to me.

I conclude that the method of engagement of many of the "good guys" owes more to Cromwellian Puritanism, reverse McCarthyism, or Salem witch burning.

I believe many of the people who consider themselves to be "good guys" are exporting their national problems into the international domain and using this forum to do so.

I didn't think it was possible for someone to be so out of touch with the world. Like the BBC and the Guardian, the NY Times is entirely leftist spin. Even the sports pages serve their social engineering agenda. And what is more, their agenda has an emotional rather than a rational basis. This should be transparent enough to any clear-minded individual.

Anyone who discredits the idea of consipiracy theories need only consider the existence of political bias in the news media. Or are the conspiracy deniers also saying it also a conspiracy theory to assume that each news organisation has a covert political agenda?

    Ouch.

The BBC is a public broadcaster with a charter to be neutral. It is the  most fact based major agency in the world. It doesn't do lengthy opinion pieces.

The Guardian is editorially independent, It is not owned by a right wing billionaire.

I make no bones about it - I am a lifelong British Liberal (a la JS  Mill or Keynes not the Libdems). You may be aware that Churchill was a party Liberal more frequently than he was a party Tory - truth be told - he was an opportunist - but I have frequently disagreed with US progressives here (including Jeff)- not so much because of their beliefs, but because of their methods.

Politics is complex. Binary soundbites treat politics like a football game , and the "progressives" here are just as guilty as the people they deride.

Most people in our GEN remained in a job 30 plus years unlike nowadays

Eh? Some of us gave up "job for life" a very very long time ago. People in high demand skills move around at will - a couple of times a year is not uncommon.

I'm not talking about the so-called "gig economy" which is highly exploitative.

    Bye Bye.

The OP asked a question about whether he should fit or "add" different shocks on his new pickup.

The answer is no, unless he wants to give the dealer an excuse to invalidate some area of the warranty.

Pickup suspension is rudimentary, you cannot re-engineer a pickup into an SUV.

Most pickup and SUV sub-systems are different. They are designed for different jobs.

Figure out what job you want the vehicle for, then buy the right type of vehicle.

Don't buy the wrong type of vehicle and then follow advice on Asean Now on how to turn it into the "right" type of vehicle, obviously ????

With rear coils you will lose some payload, the conversion whilst won't turn it into an SUV (wheelbase differences) it does vastly improve the ride to be almost SUV like.

Also helps to ditch the pickup tyres and fit SUV tyres.

Drive a quality SUV and feel the difference.

You will also lose resale value and warranty on a new pickup if you functionally modify it.

Do I really need to keep on repeating the obvious?

I just trying to say the SUV chassis are the same only in some cases shorter but still leaf springs and and shocks which are much softer than trucks.

So you can get a truck on the road behavinh very similar to the SUV as I did with my Toyota Vigo.

I'm not a car tech Kwasaki. I believe you. To me cars are just a means of transport from A to B. But I can assure you a souped up pickup is nothing like an SUV.

One of my extended family here is a car importer, so I get to drive all sorts of stuff I'd never in a million years buy.

My attitude to cars is more like Bob Dylan's:

"I don't have no sports car
And I don't even care to have one
I can walk anytime around the block. "

Can do a rear coil conversion, makes a huge difference to the pickup ride.

I'm not a car tech. I believe you.

But I'm sure that if you are a car tech you will know that "a rear coil conversion" will not turn a pickup into an SUV.

The OP has a new pickup, one that I like a lot, any functional modification will affect resale price and warranty.

  9. In my youth I was trained by the Brixton (it's in South London) Alcohol Recovery Project in Rogerian (Carl Rogers) Client Centred Counselling.

I believe alcoholism is a progressive addiction. I don't believe it's an illness.

I do believe some people are more susceptible to alcohol related problems because of cultural and family background, and life issues too - for example retirement can leave people with lots of time on their hands (hint - many people on this forum are retirees).

I believe AA has got it wrong in terms of medical science.

But I also believe AA often provides the best (sometimes the only) group for people who have gone a long way down the road of this progressive addiction.

When I was young, the Encyclopedia Britannica classified only 2 drugs as physically addictive - alcohols and opiates. Times have changed, but I still believe the EB had it right.

You don't get it my point is trucks and many SUV's are the same chassis, go figure.

I'm not trying to dis you Kw, I never saw that point about chassis. I am not a car tech, but I do know that the chassis is just one component of increasingly complex car tecnhnologies.

I am not qualified to talk about chassis.

  11. Although it's a bit off topic, my favourite SUV drive at the moment is the Ford Territory. It's rare in Thailand, made in Oz. It compares favourably or better with SUVs from Merc, Range Rover, BMW, and even my fave brand Volvo.

It's a bit lower, giving greater stability, but high enough for greater visibility. Apart from the ceiling TV/video player for the kids in the 2nd & 3rd rows, it has comparatively rudimentary bells and whistles, which I actually prefer: manual windscreen wipers lol!, but great ac and heater of course, rear cam monitor for reversing, which frankly I could do without.

But the drive, braking, suspension  - absolutely fantastic. No pickup will ever come close.

But for farmwork, building work etc any pickup will be better.

    Mu7 looks good.

My point is that SUVs and pickups are substantially different technology sets.

They are designed for different purposes.

The Cockpit franchise or group cannot turn one into the other.

Drive a good quality pickup and drive a good guality SUV. Anyone with experience of driving can feel the difference even if they are not car techs.

Yeah only joshing I know the Cockpit guy he will make my Isuzu truck into a bit better ride the same the SUV's.

I've come in on the end of a dialogue that I haven't followed. So I don't know who's joshing whom.

You can't turn a pickup into an SUV. And you can't turn an SUV into a pickup.

Just make sure you know which one you want before you part with hard earned cash.

I bought a Ford Ranger XLT but I find the ride a bit bumpy.

I like the Ford pickup 3 litre, It's one of several pickups we've had on the farm. But I found the 3 litres overpowered if there's nothing in the load area.

And yes the ride is a bit bumpy because it's a pickup.

I would seriously advise against making modifications to the suspension or any other functional part of the truck, as it will affect the resale value and almost certainly affect the warranty that a new pickup will have.

The only pickup I've preferred to the Ford is the Mazda BTS something or another. Its front seats beat the BMW7 series for comfort and even the Volvo XC90, which says something, given that seat comfort is one of the things that Volvo regularly scores 1st position for. It's like sitting  in a La-Z-Boy.

I believe Ford and Mazda brands share production line or something. I'm not a car tech, so please no abuse if I'm wrong lol.

  15. MrNA technology has been in the pipeline for decades.

And Uğur Şahin and Özlem Türeci, the German-Turkish 'dream team' that developed the vaccine in their German company in Germany have been experts in the MrNA field for decades.

But I don't know why a few people here want to give KuhnLA such a hard time about it. His lifestyle is very socially distanced and he supports mask-wearing just like most of us do.

  16. The world's first malaria vaccine was announced very recently, but it's not a 1st world disease, so no one cares.

"The World Health Organization's endorsement of the world’s first malaria vaccine marks a major advance against the mosquito-borne illness, which kills some 265,000 children in Africa annually."

May I ask, did you have the AZ in Thailand? And do you know whether it was made in Thailand or not?

Several of my younger Thai colleagues, 25-30 years old, have felt very bad after AZ. Two or three days off work in each case.

    1. The Bilderberg group meetings are conducted under "Chatham House Rules"

    That's simply not true.

Chatham House rule meetings are normally conducted ‘on the record’ with the off the record rule occasionally invoked in relevant cases. In cases where the Rule is not considered sufficiently strict, an event may be held ‘off the record’.

The Bilderberg Group is considered to be completely off the record.

Are Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket & Phangnga on that circuit?

    NO!

    Only Bangkok is.

But this guide offers some cover of Thailand.

Pattaya has been a major destination in Thailand.

There are definitely some restaurants in Pattaya at the level of some on the list of other places here.

This was definitely a weak kneed ignorant snub based on the sex industry here as if Bangkok and Phuket don't have a sex industry.

Perhaps Amsterdam is best known for coffee shops and whores in windows.

But it also has some restaurants that would be in such a book covering Europe.

Thailand in general is famous for its unique cuisine.

Chiang Mai is famous for its genuine regional cuisine.

Pattaya is famous for its sex tourism, in comparison to which Amsterdam is a genteel European city, which indeed it is - perhaps the best regulated sex industry in the world, and occupying a tiny fraction of the city. We both know the same canot be said for Pattaya's sex business.

If you're looking for fish restaurants in that region of Thailand, Rayong provides a better option, without the non-stop sleaze.

"Weak kneed ignorant snub"!? Nice 555

PS, there is no genuine regional food in Pattaya. Hasn't been since the GIs overran the place and turned it into a sex pit stop for Rest & Recreation.
