Finland visas are now handled by VFS Global. Not easy to deal with and they ask/require MANY things.

It's a pain in the S now. Same to Sweden.

I'd make Spain her destination via Finland, or direct, and go there to spend 2 weeks together! Better weather too ????

Or make Spain the first entry country.

If she answers honestly to stay with you Immi wants to know many things about you!

    - Your bank records, income, name, how you live, passport etc

    - They also expected your "Invitation letter". Do it, it helps most.

    - If she comes on her own better you are not in the picture at all and  she does hotel bookings as below.

I'd recommend booking a room in major hotel chain for 3-4 days. Stay there together.

Also, book a long stay for whole visit in other hotel via agent, like Agoda, but don't pay for nor stay there. Agoda allows to cancel for free. Do it, and stay at your place rest of the trip.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the long answer.

She already has a visa and made it via VFS on her own, she got her passport back within 48 hours with a visa.

She specifically wants to come here as we been talking about it for years, she wants to see the rough weather that you cant see in Thailand, not some beach holiday. Also to meet my family.

Staying in a hotel 3-4 days is out of the question as where i live we dont even have hotels and plan to stay in the capital just 1-2 days.

How long before arriving can you cancel agoda? I guess can book a real stay which we will do and then a longer stay what can cancel.

I seem to get very different info.

Some say its easy at the border.

Some say can mention me as its a pluss even when she made visa on her own. Now you say she might need to provide a lot details about me on the border if she mentions staying with me?

Never heard of immigation asking for bank records etc at the border.

    Lil confused.

I expect she'll be greeted with a hearty "Hei!" on arrival, and of-course, she should say that she is staying with you, you never lie to immigration officers in "western" countries!!!

    Ty makes sense yes.

I was just asking because she made the Type-C short-term tourist visa on her own without my invite letter. Just asking if she can still tell she is staying with bf.

Weren't proof of funds and evidence of accommodating part of the Schengen application?

Yes, bank statements and proof of employement were asked but hotel bookings etc were not asked.

Just asking if need to show some kind of proof of funds at the border too. I believe there is an official rule how much euros per day you need to have.

  4. Hi, my So is visiting me and i wonder what are the typical questions asked at the border.

Apart from the usual questions, is she asked proof of funds, hotel bookings?

I mean she stays with me so no hotel needed, but can she say that at the border when asked? I ask because she made the visa on her own (Type-C short term) and not the "invite letter" way.

    Thanks!

PS, wherever you go, for the protection of your cat, be aware of danger of balconies if your cat spots a bird or other animal.

    Always yes ????

He loves the balcony, but we never let him stay alone there. He is rather afraid of even looking over the edge, but loves to look ongoing traffic from a near expressway.

If you keep the cat in your room without outside access, many condos even with "No Pets" regs will overlook the fact that the cat is in your room.  Just don't talk about it or do anything that raises a complaint.

Yeah, ive done it before. Just sometimes feel shady when need to take him somewhere and hide. Or just carry cat related stuff around condo building, like big bag of toilet stuff, foods etc.

Feel want to go legit ????

  7. Tyvm but Sukhumvit too far far from my SOs work. She works near Bang Rak, so prefer around there.

I know rama 4 is far from there too, but its sometimes only 10 minutes depends on traffic. Sukhumvit is different story.

Anywhere from 20min to 1 hour.

Yea i keep an eye on the usual sites, fb groups etc. Just thought will ask from here too.

  8. I been to local friends condo before where the rent was exactly 5k.

Brand new 5 story complex, 25m2 simple but clean room with a balcony and AC.

It was like 2 stations from BTS Chong Nonsi, but honestly i dont remember which way lol.

But its certainly possible to find a decent place in a nice area if you search enough.

Same for me, my women doesnt want to get me either in anyway. I know because we know each other 7 years now, and she appreciates me, as I do appreciate her. We help each other in the best way we can for each other, and have alot of freedom because we both agree how things should be.

If I was in a western relationship, things would have been different ad it was when I had a western girl

I agree yes that a general consensus how a relationship should look like is different than in west. But its not something that bothers me when my partner is a genuine good person.

She is a smart woman, and knows you still provide alot more than her.

That might be the case sometimes, but overall id say thats quite a cynical view.

Not everyone is out there to "get you" or milk you. I know her almost a decade, she is just a good person who wants to help. I remember i was in a <deleted>ty spot some years ago temporarily. She got lucky with a lottery and won like 4k B, she called being very excited that she can contribute more in tough times.

World is not black and white.

but in Thailand, I would not expect any woman paying if dating!

Thats how it is in Thailand, and many other countries in the world.

I beg to differ. Please do not generalise.

It ALL depends on the character of the woman.

It's pure bad luck that you've met the wrong type in Thailand and wherever... - the normal day to day Thai lady is good as any other found in the East or West.

    I agree.

My SO has a lot smaller salary than me, but she always insists on paying for various stuff (taxi, some meals or support electric bill etc) even when i say its not necessary.

She just wants to contribute and i appreciate it.

2.1 mill baht for a frigging handbag! ... the World has gone nuts.

We know nothing about her, maybe she saved up for years to get her dream bag.

And people saying to put it in a safe...i applaud her that she actually enjoys the things she likes.

People have different hobbies and interests, $50k watch is crazy too but horology and watch hobby is very common. How is that different from liking handbags, cars or any other materialistic stuff.

People wouldnt say nothing if this was a guy getting his Patek stolen.

  13. I realise my last post is October past year but i decided to give an update, since a lot have happened since my last post.

Maybe someone is in similar situation in the future and can take something useful out of this.

I think on October 26 last year i decided i need to go back to my home country as the situation was more and more getting out of control. Insomnia was so hard on my mind that i developed severe anxiety.

On my way to the airport i a had massive panic attack and taxi took me to the nearest hospital and i missed my flight.

In the taxi it was the scariest experience i have ever had, i was 100% sure i was going to die as i was nearly passing out and in bumper to bumper traffic 15min away from the hospital.

They made several tests again in the hospital and all was good, i also spent the night there and got about 6h of sleep, they put a drip to my vein, some muscle relaxer. They also diagnosed me with panic disorder.

Next day i checked out of the hospital (shout out to the great staff of Rama 9 hospital), and took a new shot at going home.

All was well and 2 hours into the flight started to feel sick. I talked with the flight attendtant and she gave me oxygen and checked bloodpressure. It was like 160/120, pulse 130.

The next around 7 hours i spent under oxygen mask because my heart was just pounding so fast and i couldnt breathe good.

Long story short i finally got home and after several weeks of trying to find a good doctor i got the help i needed.

Of course i tested several different medicines but nothing helped for sleep like diazepam, because my insomnia was connected with anxiety, normal sleeping pills did nothing much for me.

I also quit smoking (now 6 months cigarette free), havent drinked almost no alcohol (3 glasses of chmapagne in 6 months).

At this point i am sleeping with no medicine and get about 6 hours a day, also still take some AD very small dose.

But i am feeling better than ever and i the upcoming months looking to come back to Thailand.

Felt this chaos what happened made me stronger and i educated a lot myself about anxiety, panic disorder etc.
