  1. Been past John's a few times now.... Looks like their doing it up but seem to be taking their time about it. Quite a good place for cheap beer and footy.... Any idea when it'll re-open?

John's place as well as The Leprechaun have been bought by De Naga Hotel....So no more John's place ...

Holy cow batman!!!! Another legend bites the dust!!!!! Been in Thailand 4 yrs now and always remember that place as a good meeting point for a good evening of footy..... Wonder if my 20% discount card will still be valid for the new venue :o

  3. Not on Thai TV according to their listings, checked on the TRUE website and it wasn't listed either!!!

Called TRUE and they confirmed it will be ON True sport 1 (59) and Truesport 5 (63). Keep your fingers crossed there is not a repeat of the Charity shield fiasco!

  4. Hi all,

anyone know a good florist that will deliver within the Chiangmai area? Maybe some near, or in Kat Sen Guaw?

    Many thanks

  5. Hi all,

Just wanted some advice. Obtained my double entry tourist visa from Laos in March, as I came through the boarder checkpoint at Nongkhai to come back into Thailand the immigration official didn't read my visa properly. He assumed it was a single entry and to my horror he stamped "used'' accross the visa! As soon as he did this he realised his mistake and saw that the number of entries was down as 2. He immediately crossed out the used stamp and wrote something in Thai underneath. After asking a Thai friend apprantly this translates as "Yang mai dai chai" = Still not entered (I think?).

I have to go to immigration Monday for the 30 day extension so I will check all is ok with them. Maybe they will issue me with a letter to give to boarder control at Mai Sai. Just a tad concerned that the boarder staff at Mai Sai won't recognise his mistake and refuse me the 2nd entry that I'm entitled to.

  6. Does anyone know anywhere that will show the last day of the championship season live this Sunday?

Checked the Supersport listings but nothing as yet. A friend of mine said that the "Samart" satellite system show Live games via Newsline channel.

Stoke Vs Leicester is the Live game on SKY TV back home, surely someone here will be showing it live?!

    Any help appreciated.

  8. sorry mate, but that means your must make your 2nd entry before the 27th May in order to utilise the double entry. If you return to Thailand after that date the visa will be expired.

The Double entry TV is valid for 90days, 60days + 30day extension at Immigration, leave before the 30days is up (in your case prior to the 27th May) do a boarder run, come back over and that activates the 2nd entry of 60days. Then if you wanted you could extend for another 30days at immigration.

  9. Just landed myself a job as a marketing officer for a construction firm out here. Part of the job means I have to go over to Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore to see suppliers and customers.

My company have advised me to try and get the one year multi B visa, as this will avoid paying numerous re-entry permit fees. They will supply me with a contract, letter and all company docs in order to do so.

Was thinking of going Laos, but a friend of mine warned me they only issue single entry there. I know a couple of people who have had success in getting a one year B in KL.

Just wondered what the opinion on here was as to the best place to go? Obviously Laos is cheaper to do, but don't wanna be messing around so if it has to be KL then so be it.

    Any advice appreciated. Cheers

  10. This all sounds like good news to me. I have been shitting it recently. I have a Non Imm B multiple at the moment, which is about to run out.

Had planned to go to Hull and get another next month. But due to family problems don't think I can afford the flight til later in the year.

Has anyone had success with obtaining a 2x Tourist visa after their original Non Imm B has ran out?

  11. Moving to Chiangmai in April, need to sort out somewhere to live before I start at my new school.

Does anyone know and decent apartments near the train station along Chorenmuang Road? Would be willing to pay around 5k a month.

    Any help appreciated, thanks

  12. Hi all,

moving over to chiangmai soon, just wondering if the cable operator up there shows the English premier league?

I know they have some of the supersport stations for S.A, but with this new deal that TRUE have for the rights are they still allowed to show it?

  13. Hi all,

I've got the opportunity of a job up north developing and selling property. Have heard on here before to get a visa you need a degree and police check, but from people I have spoken to these paticular rules are only for teachers.

Does this mean that I can obtain a Non Imm B visa by producing a letter of employment / contract + company registration docs to the Thai embassy? Is there anything else they would require for this line of work?

My job my also entails trips to Laos and Cambodia so my employees would prefer me to get a one year multiple entry as paying the fees for re-entry permits could add up to be expensive. Can I obtain a multiple from Laos / Malaysia or Vietnam or would I need to return to UK for that?

Dare say this question has been asked a million times on this forum but would apreciate any help you can offer.

    Cheers

  14. I called UBC yesterday to query this and the guy I spoke to confirmed as a platinum subscriber I would get all the footy, when I asked about ESPN and STAR Sports he informed me these would remain on as normal and would not be took off air.

Panic over.... Although agree with all on here the service of UBC is garbage and wouldn't be surprised if the situation with Espn and star changes as MTV and VH1 were both removed with next to any notice at all.

I'm looking into other options to get the S.A Supersport channel as UBC is too overpriced for what you get.

  15. In Chiangmai and just found out that the England match is not on Star or Espn. It is on Supersport 8 a S.A station that I know you can get in BKK but not sure if the cable provider here has it?

Does anyone know if Thai Tv will show it. K.O around 12:45am, maybe Ch3 or 7?

    Cheers
