  1. A phone to the head works too - nodding with hmmm every 10 seconds, hard work but subconsciously accepted somehow.. Can be off if worried about radiation.
  2. Sounds like they are sorting applications based on submission datetime descending (i.e. latest pops to top of queue - would seem lucky if someone is assigned that moment), this wouldn't be surprising of this Thai/German IT partnership given they are handling their own outgoing transactional mail and running against known limits of hotmail/live/outlook for a non-reputable IP instead of using something sane like sendgrid (why many of you are having problems with certain emails). What a mess.
  3. One positive for the breakfast buffet, and not being awoken with their hotel corridor antics this xmas.. On a more serious note the infection rate is on par with what Singapore saw roughly, although Thailand probably need a few more days of data and for all the silly agencies to all be telling the same arrival numbers before hard conclusions can be drawn, suspect Thailand will be a little higher - Singapore only accepting vaccinations certs that are digitally verifiable - no paper, a smaller 48hr PCR window and a smaller number of VTL only flights, and no exceptions to PCR for their own nationals
  4. A long border hop, possible pricey, should be possible this month for India (from 15th) and Sri Lanka (from today) both within the 4hr range.
  5. Sorry I lose phone after my arrival test and same day release, some hotels are apparently quicker than others so I cant see how practical it is "take 4 day for Lazada to deliver me new one... me bad"
  6. Yeah, that is a worry but Singapore caught 5 out of 5100 on their arrival testing if I remember correctly so it's basically 1 in a thousand chance. Nice little money earner for nothing really.
  7. The problem is all south east asian countries are acting in a similar fashion, many more restrictive than Thailand, so it's not just Thailand, it will probably take until one of them just opens up properly and wins the tourist trade in Q1 and Q2 that Thailand might rethink their silliness.. That said its still much easier than the Phuket 7 day trapped on that ripoff island..
  8. Do you have a link? I recall the story about the falang girl in Phuket who hoped emirates insurance would pay but as usual there was no follow up to the story
  9. Middle class thais are hypochondriacs by nature, I dont think they reflect the thinking of most visitors
  10. First vac two days ago, was told next appointment in 8 or 12 weeks (cant remember which one), regardless that isn't feasible for mid december, but spoken to a few people and we are confident * she can just rock up in 2 weeks for the second shot, and add a day for it to register on NHS app. (* confident enough to book the flight). Not aware she needed to declare anything tbh, will ask
  11. Is it permitted for a 17yr british national to travel alone to BKK from UK and do the 1 night hotel etc.. under the reopening scheme? Waiver with airline (Singapore Airlines) seems no problem, vaccinated and will do thailand pass prior will be collected from hotel after first night. Snarky cagey parental advice not solicited.
  12. Actually, I believe they are letting their own people self isolate now (at least those with some money/power - wouldn't count on it being afforded to a construction worker though), which makes this whole hospitalization non-sense even worse.
  13. A nameless publication (thaivisa rules not mine) said today that there has been a plan approved to handle and provide treatment for foreigners afflicted by a covid positive test during the reopening. Is this just shoddy reporting or has there really been a plan that one can reference? I'd like to see if it's still the stupid forcefully hospitalize in a densely packed facility non-sick asymptomatic people. Another question, as all sources suggest now that foreign insurance is fine as long as 50k and cover covid (nearly all do now) but I do wonder if anyone has actually asked their non-thai insurance if that extends to paying for a mandated quarantined hospital stay when not actually sick other than a positive test.
  14. May I ask why you say 'No' to 1b? Qatar is on the list, is this because Id be submitting my route from Europe
  15. With the information currently released I was wondering.. 1) Can I fly from Europe to Doha (Qatar) to Bangkok with Qatar Airways. There was some mention about no transit but I can no longer find it. All countries are on the approved list (for Europe places Im thinking of). 1b) Can I do a stopover in Doha (i.e. exit airport, stay a night and return)? 2) If you have the one shot janssen vaccine is that fine? 3) Is it 72hrs from your first flight or 72hrs from your final flight to Thailand for the PCR test? 4) Can I do visa exemption 30 day still? (i.e. no prior visa) 5) Are Covid-60 day extensions likely to be available in December?
