Maybe everyone can see the news that there's no fun to be had in Thailand. No drinking no dancing no everything, so why come?

    That's not true.

In Pattaya all the beer bars on the beach road are open. Also nearly everything in Soi Buakhao. Even some lady bars in Soi 6 are open now.

Everywhere you can get alcohol, masks and social distancing are not required. You can party till late, Just ask residents / expats where to go after 11pm.

Come and get your free Omicron ????

You have to say, the government's current set of curfew/lockdown measures in the dark red zone areas have been a resounding success -- NOT!

July 20 when the current measures were first imposed:

11,305 daily cases, 80 deaths and 3,711 critical condition patients

Today less than two weeks later:

18,027 daily cases, 133 deaths and 4,765 critical condition patients

    What's not to like?  ????

What do you think the numbers would be right now without all the measures ?

More or less than 18000 ?

Today's announcement from the Phuket governor stating that the sandbox will continue irrespective of additional screening for Covid-19

I don't care if they continue or stop the sandbox model.

But what I learned is if Phuket and TAT officials say if something will happen we will do that .... then it's just a fake statement. At the end of the day their statements are worth nothing.

  4. Proposal

Open up the whole country for tourists. No quarantine, no mandatory vaccination.

    Why ?

17000 cases daily. Raising. Next week probably 25000. Before it gets better in 4 weeks - according to the

PM - I think it's likely to reach 50000. Neither Phuket nor Samui couldn't stop new infections.

The few imported cases from the tourists do not really count anymore. Do they ?

    Well. That was interesting.

Having read the article in the esteemed Thaiger, I thought 'Hm. Maybe things are picking up in Chaweng?'

So, I put on my evening flip-flops, a clean shirt and headed off to have a beer and practice Thai with some young ladies in Chaweng.

Imagine my disappointment when I got to Chaweng. Dead. Still a scene from a Zombie movie. There is more fun in little old Bangrak. (There is more fun in the local 7/11. At least that is open.)

I saw two restaurants open on the Beach road.  Soi Green Mango was all in darkness. Nothing open. No people anywhere. Out of Soi Green Mango, near Central Festival, there was one bar playing music. No customers.

So - "On any given night, customers can be seen drinking and dancing without any masks or social distancing in popular clubs and small bars"

I will be polite and call this 'creative journalism'. The powers that be here in Thailand would call it fake news.

Maybe a case of sour grapes by a Phuket newspaper? I will certainly read it's stories from a different perspective from now on.

Two weeks later ... you remember ?

Chaweng / Black Bamboo is the new Thonglor ☠️

That's 180,000 baht per tourist, even if the Hotel cost 2,000 baht a night that is only 28,000 baht over 14 days. leaving 152,000 baht for what?  No-one spends that amount of money on a 21 week holiday!

Come on. There are hotels for 13000 THB a night. He does not know and he's never sleeping in 2000 THB a night hotels. 14 x 13000 ... here we go. Not included the the drinks ....

Based on the (full) article on Phuket News they do:

"I was lucky to be flying with Emirates which includes such an insurance, but not everyone is coming with this airline."

Unfortunately I can't use Emirates, they don't fly to Phuket from my location, only to Bangkok.

Maybe she just thinks she's covered ?

I guess she will not get any money from Emirates and I think there's no insurance covering a quarantine for free or small money.

I booked hotel in Agoda and got SHABA code even not been payed yet.

What I had to pay in advance was 8000 bahts for 3 PCR test. But transport from airport to hotel and room not payed yet and I can cancel at any moment.

At least in my hotel. May be things are different with other hotels.

How did you manage your bookings ? Do you think it's complicated or does it takes days to get all the papers ?
