  1. NOTIG HAS Changed since WW11 Thailand has sat on the fence spent billions n Armed fores that do nothing ,too afraid of their own shadow, and preach , while turning a blind eye to atrocities committed sometimes on i s own land.
  2. I is not the heat that is a problem, but the humidity. If low humidity heat is easily manageable, used to 42 i the shade in Yemen, but almost zero humidity. JUST a blip why do people moan and groan
  3. Polce reform is two words, uttered every-time some Policeofficers get it wrong. There are TWO major problems with this. those that used internal corruption to get where they are want to see a return o their efforts and actions thereby hindering any real internal reform and the the other point is the PUBLIC. The Police need the public to Police effectively sadly virtually ALL trust is gone, Police not taking action as there is nothing in it for them ( quite from a recently retired RTP friend of mine ) plus the vast web of enterprises the Police are involved in officially or unofficially which `show that they are corrupt. If you sort out the first then the second will follow.
  4. So living here for over TWO decades { will be made to wear a MASK should I visit a Holiday Spot o stop what the transmission of a disease I picked up in my current home town 600 odd KMs away from Bangkok . Please can someone with a BRAIN educate the The Thai Government employee that thought this up , Maybe enter them into the Guiness Book of world records for stupidity
  5. e to the SO educated American Teen get is comeuppance. Typical mouth opens and complete rubbish comes out. Deport him never to return !!
  6. While I do not condone Foreign workers working illegally, as in many countries one has to ask the questio if the job is reserved for THAIS WHY DO THAIS not want to work in those jobs. Possibly pure employers greed paying less or maybe the employer is a bad person and Thais have no intention or working for them/ Either way the reasons should be examined rather than just deal with the illegality .
  7. Well iof the TN were not so incapable they would not have lost a frigate in hugh seas, or even tried to blow one up with a stray shell from another ship. So theu have proven themselves incompetent, a fleet of smaller offshore patrol boats would be better suited in my book ur
  8. Good idea, illogical questions on the most part and sadly fail to see how this could affect National Security, but then as it is mainly Thais complaining, not surprised anything to do with the Monarchy s off limits
  9. So TWO so-called ( never heard of them internationally ) eminent doctors are having a spat over the cause of a possible problem following an MRNA vaccine which may or may not affect a living person and hasten that persons death. #Well done eminent DOCTORS , NOW you have sowed the seed of doubt so many will NOW not ge follow-up vaccinations to protect themselves and loosen the current general vaccination status of the whole country putting the REST of the population at risk. I wish I was that clever !!!!!
  10. Whle I recognise the need for security and safety regarding so-called VIP Motorcades involving royalty, often ad i have been subject to it the extremely long time one has to wait for a one vehicle motorcade with numerous POLICE VEHICLES ,for an extremely long time . OCE stopped as the motoprcade was passing through a nearby town 20 km away and took another 10 minutes to pass me. t Seems over the top considering in the UK with planning and sup[port minimal disruotion is caused at anytime and ALL MOTORCADES follow the law and never speed onl;y ignore traffic lghtsd naturally. Sad the RTP seem incapable of finding out how to move the Royal Family around without the immense disrution they seem to enjoy making the population suffer when all the public really want to do is to go to work, and take care of their families`, Not wait for up to 15 minuites for one person or maybe two to pass by without stop[p[ing or caring the problems caused by the RTP to daily life . `
  11. Off to source a really good waterproof bag to carry my phone and important bits. pl;uis a good lawyers numbger to deal with the people I HIT FOR Splashing me as I walk about just working
  12. Judging by many comments, I do not suppose for one minute that the political Organisations will benefit from the vote from a group of people who as far as I can determine from comments a group of people fuelled by the hatred of a country that provides many of them with sustenance even though many of them do not really deserve it . Good idea in my book can at last have a minuite say on how my UK TAX IS spent m
  13. While adter living here for over 20 years one becomes accustomed top the CULTURAL requirements of living here. THais themselves are in my opinion one of the most HYP{OCRITICAL countries when it comes to Cultural norms. They say they are BUDDHISTS< never have I seen more abuse of Bubbhist Norms than here. They trash any venue and the waste left is stupendous, their Family life is beset with abuse and even murder. AND yet they get upset by two tourists sun-bathing in bikinis, walk down any street with bars, women there wear far less an openly. AS FAR AS I CAn see ANY opportunity to bash tourists while saying they must obey cultural norms smacks of over-zealous nationalistic fervour
  14. Oh dear , many concerned about being RACIST, how pathetic, missing out the simple fact this man a mere 30 something thinks it is normal to act this way and you are worried abou8t racist comments. Find him, emasculate him ( literally ) _ and leave him alone.
  15. The real question is how many continued to drive immediately after being found to be over the limit . P0ses a question should the POLICE NOW BE liable if such a person then has an accident . Many stopped pay money ( fine / bribe ) call it what you want and THEN continue driving. The Police must therefore be liable as they are condoning the continued breaking of the law !!!!
  16. The surprise is that it is NOT lower, considering the hype, the public announcements etc. But seasoned expats and many Thais these figures come as no surprise considering daily the toll is bad and after speaking over the yeas to many Thais, it s called Kerma, a sort of matter of fact acceptance of their fate often at the hands of people who care little for anyone else, completely alien to the BUDDHIST Faith
  17. 22 years ago prior to coming here, in a book about THailand was written, THais generally will find any way to circumnavigate the laws and that also includes using any vehicle and ignoring those laws . After all this time I have concluded there is almost ZERO enforcement by the POLICE WHO ARE OFTEN ALso breaking the laws,as well. The fines for serious offences are paltry plus any court cases apply the law correctly which the Police do not. So the Genera; PUBL:IC have no fear of the POLICE, the :Law or anything else for that matter `. Al;so what amazes me the indurance companies pauy out even if the vehicle involved is unroadworthy or being driven by a law breaker. . In other words ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY and everyone knows it !!!
  18. GREat talk about stupid, all ideas stated are pointless, when you have LACK OF ENFORCEMENT, achieved only by boots on the ground . Basically POLICE operating roving patrols stopping vehicles being visible ( not hiding in tents looking at phones ) Over 22 years here , hardly ever see a POLICE CAR DRIVING AROUND acting as a deterrent, rarely seen Buses and Lrries stopped, , was stopped once by an officer who said nothing and just shoved a breathalyser into my face and said blow . I asked for it to be cleaned he laughed. There is no fear anongst drivers of any mechanically powered vehicle as they all know the Police are only after cash from fines and even allow the offender to finish their trip after being fined even for serious offences. Example ...MAN DRIVING < No licence, no excise sticker and NO insurance . fined whatever it is and then allowed to continue. Who is at fault now the MaN OR THE POLICE for allowing that vehicle driven by an unlicensed person ??
  19. BEST Way to r3educe accidents apart from POLICE actions is to remove ALL drivers#riders with NO licences, remove all drivers with NO insurace , stop all lorries on holidays. with 50% less vehicles job done
  20. SWopm,e sensible suggestions, but all it will really m,ean is M ORE Pooice Officers sitting under tents looking at phones while the cars etc speed by. Only emerging AFTER an accident or problem. BOOTS on the ground , visible presence , randomly stopping all transport and checking . something never seen here and that is one reason why I never travel on most public transport unless it is a train.
  21. It is very simple to boost Tourism. Offer value for money, Clean and pleasant attractions, with clean working toilets. Do away with all the polluting food stalls offering bad food. DO AWAY WITH All scams, AND make the OFFICIALS AND Tourist workers polite. SIMPLE Really but not seems Thainess and attitude and tourism generally do not work, but re-educating the entire Tourism industry is hard work, not made better by flunkies offering new ways when the old ways mentioned above always work.
  22. JUDGING BY some comments, you expect intelligence from RTP OFFICERS, sadly yes we do, but this was an OFFICER FROM THE CENTRAL Educational ESTABLISHMENT OF THE RTP, so what are the standards of the teachers, very low it seems .
  23. Oh dear obviously the LOSS of brown envelopes will be hurting, and ANY Real Navy man worth anything knows that The waters around most of Thailand are TOO shallow for submarine work and judging by the use of the Air Craft carrier Thailands Navy does not exactly venture too far from its home shores.
  24. See start with Chinese Police Patrols and NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tell Thailand top control its MEDIA, this country of basically free speech can say what it likes about anything it wants. Except according to Autocratic Bejing Taiwan ... Bull<deleted> !
