Major bribery ring in highways department uncovered
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Over the years whenever you see lorries with an extraordinary overhang of the load or even the Sugar cane lorries so overloaded that even turning is dangerous, you know somewhere somehow there is little of any oversight by the authorities and if there is oversight money has changed hands . Like all road checks, some vehicles sail through even though you know they are illegal, overloaded, speeding etc. Overladen lorries are one of the causes of brake failure resulting in many accidents so lack of enforcement those corrupt officials are also complicit in accidents as well. -

Shocking survey reveals Thai government’s trust crisis
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not a surprise whenever you as a Foreigner have to deal with any Government entity, it is very hard work and frustrating not all the time to be fair but if you want a decision, it is worse than watching grass grow. Thais are terribly xenophobic and dealing with a foreigner you can see them moving around to avoid dealing with you . Generally the Thai public are far better, but put them in a position of authority then the sloping shoulders and lack of customer service shows through , ,but do not get me started on the Royal Thai Police . -
Thailand reduces school hours in major curriculum overhaul
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good ideas, however where are they going to find educational professionals , currently Education is a mess, supposed to be changing it for the last 22 years to my knowledge . Sounds like just another sound-bite top attempt to change an outdated system that will never change -
Tourism Council's Plan to Combat Overtourism Revealed
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Thailand will do exactly nothing to improve Tourism adventures or visitors, having lived here for over two decades , there is still too many Tourist scams from Jet Skis to taxis. The infrastructure is poor despite promises to improve it. Toilets for example are a very good guide to an efficient tourism service, woefully poor standards in many places. I enjoy Thailand but then I do not do the tourism sites. How can you JUSTIFY the 100/300 per cent increase in admittance prices, when you do not improve said site at all. Pure Governmental authorised SCAM !! -
So even if in a hospital and after footage gone around the world and viral videos , the RTP state they cannot proceed until they get a formal complaint. The police are worse than the Keystone Police , whose bumbling efforts poured scorn on Law Enforcement in the USA. Now Thailand has its own version, called the Royal ( I will do nothing unless I have to ) Thai Police . Any foreigner hurt who does not immediately report the matter to the police will get NO JUSTICE !! Even if lying in hospital on life support !!

Having serverd ion a maritime oprganmi9sation for over TWO decades I did visit many boat tour op[portunities when I first came here, canal trips opk, but on the open water the expertise and seemingly lack of competence showed by many crew including cap[taions, I vowed NEVER to venture on any boat run and crewed and captained by Thais . Judging by the number of accidents, mishaps etc over the last 2 decades seems like a wise choice . There may be GOOD COMPETENT crews, boats etc,. but it is pure guesswork !!

Thai doctor offered bribe to drop lawsuit in Swiss scandal
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Judging by many comments the injustice is having many believe that this lady has been pursuing the offender and been unkind. LET US PUT IT THIS WAY>>LADY KICKED < VIDEO SHOWN BY OFFENDER SUPP{ORTS HER ALLEGTION< WOMANCOMP_LAINS TO POLICE WHO BEACAUSE THEY ARE LAZY Wish to pursue a lesser charge ir-regardless of what the victim wants. The local government shuts he Elephant foundation, and endures the higher charge is used for the offender. MANY SEE HER AS SEEKING TH SPOTLIGHT> So which ignorant posters who are I think mainly uneducated foreigners think he should keep everything and allow him to continue as before . Amazing now I know why I do not live in this place full of stupid people and I am not talking about the ~Thais -
Thailand to Face Unprecedented Temperatures
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I is not the heat that is a problem, but the humidity. If low humidity heat is easily manageable, used to 42 i the shade in Yemen, but almost zero humidity. JUST a blip why do people moan and groan -
Polce reform is two words, uttered every-time some Policeofficers get it wrong. There are TWO major problems with this. those that used internal corruption to get where they are want to see a return o their efforts and actions thereby hindering any real internal reform and the the other point is the PUBLIC. The Police need the public to Police effectively sadly virtually ALL trust is gone, Police not taking action as there is nothing in it for them ( quite from a recently retired RTP friend of mine ) plus the vast web of enterprises the Police are involved in officially or unofficially which `show that they are corrupt. If you sort out the first then the second will follow.

US Kick streamer provokes brawl in Thailand
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to george's topic in Thailand News
e to the SO educated American Teen get is comeuppance. Typical mouth opens and complete rubbish comes out. Deport him never to return !! -
One poster hit the al on the head, for some Thai Polie no reward means no policing and sadly any officer who siad to me karma would not be greeted with a wai, more a formal complaint . The attitude of all of the officers involved beggars belief and this story should make the rounds internationally, to waqrn people of the incompetence and downright laziness of the RTP .

700+ foreigners caught working Thai-only jobs
Nicholas Paul KNIGHT replied to george's topic in Thailand News
While I do not condone Foreign workers working illegally, as in many countries one has to ask the questio if the job is reserved for THAIS WHY DO THAIS not want to work in those jobs. Possibly pure employers greed paying less or maybe the employer is a bad person and Thais have no intention or working for them/ Either way the reasons should be examined rather than just deal with the illegality .
