  1. I’m currently in the Phuket sandbox. Everything is closed ! I can’t even get breakfast at the empty hotel I’m staying at. The only open cafe round the corner doesn’t serve breakfast at all so I walk 2 km to the only open coffee shop near me for some breakfast everyday. I thought it would just be Karon and Kata that are closed so went to Patong . The only thing open was big C . So yes the beaches are lovely but all malls and entertainment venues are closed, it’s quite surreal. The only thing open in Kata was the PCR test centre and a massage place. I feel stuck on the island now too as all domestic flights have stalled . I may be able to get on a flight to Chiang Mai on the 16th August. I had no idea it would be quite so stark here. Even the 7Elevens have closed down. Patong looks like a war zone, flooded , homeless people living in what should be an indoor market, abandoned hotels. Many businesses up for sale. The lack of intl tourism here has really hit the island hard, my advice to anybody wanting to come to Phuket is wait a few months to visit when the island is ready.
