  1. I am a UK national who has lived in Thailand continuously for coming up to 4 and a half years, on a retirement visa. My Thai partner and I are planning to visit the UK in a couple of months to see my family and friends. We are completing his on-line application for his UK standard visitor visa. All good but then it asks for 'Evidence that your sponsor is not, or will not be, in breach of UK immigration laws at the time of your visit'. I will be paying for the holiday, and therefore assume that I am the 'sponsor'. However, for the life of me, I cannot work out what I can offer by way of evidence here. Has anyone else has had to answer this, and if so, what evidence did you provide?
  2. Just tidying up arrangements for when I shuffle off this mortal coil. I have joint account with my partner and a saving account he gets in full when I die. But the latter will take some time. I therefore need to know that I have left adequate in our shared account to cover his needs and the costs of my funeral while the will is being sorted. However, I have no idea of the costs of funerals in the Pattaya area. Has anyone had any experience of this? Any idea how much I should set aside for a basic funeral .. no frills. It seems deposing my body down the waste shute is not an option.
  3. In the next few weeks, I need to make a Thai will to ensure that my partner is covered at the time. I wondered first, whether you might have any tips or advice that I might need to take into account when doing drawing one up? Secondly, any recommendations about appropriate and helpful solicitors in the Jomtien area to help me with this? Thanks in advance.
  4. Thanks everyone. All helpful suggestions. I have opted for the ’Pattaya Food Bank Program’, as Mark suggested. I have not heard of this before but have already been in contact. Such sad sad times.
  5. I would welcome any recommendations on charities to donate to, to help with the distribution of food. Of course I want to make sure that it is bona fide and the money will go to problem and not someone's pocket. My preference to help in my local area i..e. Jomtien (Pattaya). My preference would be to give to non Christian charities but will reconsider that if really needed.
