  1. So close!!

Despite conceding a heartbreaking late, late equaliser, Juande Ramos refused to see Saturday's draw against United as two points dropped.

The reigning champions and title contenders - arriving at the Lane with10 wins in 11 league games - needed an unfortunate own goal from Michael Dawson to rescue a point.

Outstanding in central defence alongside Jonathan Woodgate, ‘Daws’ dived in with Carlos Tevez at the near post to meet Nani’s corner but could only divert the ball past Radek Cerny.

It was a hammer blow to the lads, who had worked tirelessly to both defend and try to add to the lead gained via Dimitar Berbatov’s deft finish after 21 minutes. United actually created very few clear-cut chances and Radek Cerny was forced to make only one save of note, a fine tip around at full stretch to deny Anderson.

“When you are playing against a team like Manchester United you can’t consider it two points dropped,” insisted Head Coach Juande.

“It is true that we were very close to winning but the game doesn’t end until the referee blows the final whistle. Obviously with it being the last corner of the match we were very unlucky to concede an own goal and that’s the result.

“The team was very solid. United had more possession but didn’t look like they were coming close to scoring but these things happen in football.

“You have to give credit to Manchester United and it was unfortunate for us in how the goal was scored.”

There was praise for Alan Hutton, who performed admirably on his debut just days after joining the club and grew stronger and stronger as the game went on.

“He played well considering it was his first game,” added Juande. “He’s only trained for two days so he hasn’t had a much of a chance to get to know his new team-mates.

“It was an interesting game for him and we’ll see him improving as he fits in and gets to know his team-mates more and more.”

  4. The mighty spurs rock Arsenal!!!

Juande Ramos, Gus Poyet and the players were united in their praise for the fans after our Carling Cup semi-final victory over Arsenal.

There was an electric atmosphere inside the Lane before kick-off, so you can imagine how the noise levels increased after every goal, the roof lifting off when Steed Malbranque tapped home the fifth and final goal in injury time. Even Gunners legend Paul Merson - in the studio working for Sky Sports - was moved to comment on the stadium 'rocking'. "That crowd was brilliant," he commented.

Head Coach Juande beamed: "To get to a final in such a short period of time since I came here is a fantastic achievement and even more so for the fans, who are tremendously happy. It's been a long time since they've had a flavour of a final. That makes it all the more satisfying."

"For us to win for every Spurs supporter all over the world is fantastic," added coach Gus. "The atmosphere can never be a better one than this because it is Arsenal and it is our house. So if you want to celebrate a big victory I think this was the perfect day."

Robbie Keane, goalscorer on the night and second longest serving player in the current squad behind Ledley King, knew how much it meant to everyone. "Since I have been here we have not beaten Arsenal so it is a special occasion for the players but also the fans who come here week in, week out.

"We've had disappointments so it was great for us to be able to do that for them. We are absolutely buzzing and now we can look forward to a final."

Dimitar Berbatov was almost at a loss for words when asked about the atmosphere in the stadium. "There are no words to describe it," he said. "We did it for them and every fan who loves Tottenham. Now let's hope we can go to Wembley and do it again."

    Absolutely fantastic!!

    Bring on Wembley!!

    Come on you spurs!!

  6. SALVIA PRAGUE IN UEFA CUP

We have been drawn against Slavia Prague in the round of 32 of the UEFA Cup, with the first leg to be played away from home.

We progressed from our qualifying group with seven points while the Czech side finished third in their Champions League group, which included Arsenal.

The tie will be a repeat of last season's qualifying round clash, which we won 2-0 on aggregate.

The first leg is scheduled to be played on Thursday February 14, with the return leg the following week.

Should we progress from the round of 32, we will face the winners of the tie between PSV Eindhoven and Helsingborgs IF in the last 16, with the first leg to be played at White Hart Lane.

    COME ON YOU SPURS

  7. ROBBIES VIEW

Keane plays down fan abuse claim

Tottenham striker Robbie Keane believes footballers should not be too sensitive over verbal abuse from fans.

Portsmouth's Sol Campbell called for the Football Association to act after claiming abuse has "got out of hand".

But Keane told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Verbal abuse - I've had it, but nothing that would make me go crazy.

"I don't know what has been said to Sol. It obviously must have been something that really upset him for him to ask the FA to intervene."

Campbell joins a list of senior figures, which includes Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp and Chelsea coach Avram Grant, who have complained about crowd behaviour.

The England defender felt so strongly about the situation that he rang the BBC to raise the issue himself.

But Keane played down his experiences of abuse from the terraces.

"Things like that don't really bother me," added Keane. "You get fans who say things in the heat of the moment.

"Sometimes fans try to give you a little bit of stick and I give a little bit back to them. It's just a bit of banter really.

"Fans say things they don't really mean. It's a spur of the moment thing, getting a little bit of stick here and there doesn't hurt anyone.

"I don't like it when people swear when kids are sat beside them. You shouldn't swear in front of kids. If there are no kids there and someone gives you a bit of banter, I usually laugh and say something back to them."

And Keane defended players who swear on the pitch, insisting it is not meant to offend anyone.

"The fans are not giving abuse to ridicule you, they are saying it out of frustration," he stated.

"It's the same for a player on the pitch. If a bad decision goes against you, you say something out of frustration in those few seconds.

"We all do it. We are not doing it to upset anyone."

If keano says its not a big deal then its not!

    I'll say no more :o

    Uefa cup update

We have finished second in Group G of the UEFA Cup after the final round of matches played on Wednesday night.

Getafe beat Anderlecht 2-1 at the Coliseam Alfonso Perez to top the group. Anderlecht finish third on five points and go through to the Round of 32 ahead of Danish side Aalborg, who beat Hapoel Tel Aviv 3-1 on Wednesday night.

Finishing second means we will face one of the eight third-placed sides from the UEFA Champions League groups - Olympique de Marseille, Rosenborg BK, Werder Bremen, SL Benfica, Rangers, Sporting Clube de Portugal, PSV Eindhoven and SK Slavia Prague - with home advantage in the second leg.

UEFA Cup group winners will be drawn against teams finishing third.

The draw for both the Round of 32 and Round of 16 of the UEFA Cup takes place in Nyon, Switzerland at noon on Friday.

The first leg of the Round of 32 will be played on February 13/14 with the return on February 21.

  10. I think its a bit soft when players whinge about getting stick, but I'm sure you boys know quite rightly, that being called a buck toothed nigger,(our ledley for example) week in, week out is a bit below the belt and would probably get on your nerves quite a bit.

I'm not sticking up for Sol because he is our number one Judas, but I believe there is a point when it must really start to get on yer tits

    I dunno maybe i'm soft

    Mark

I agree that there is no place for the racist element of chanting, but Sol's not complaining about the racist element, he's actually complaining about general chanting and fans having a go at players. What do these guys want, a return to the days with polite clapping, the rattle, and clap, clap, clap, clap (Insert team name) or 2,4,6,8, who do we apprecioate?....

I think he's made a rod for his own back on this one, and just goes to show how far buried up their own rectums some of these pro footballers are these days.

He may not be complaining about it directly but, racism is used as the backbone of amost abuse complaints in football.

If that element was not there then I dont think players would be able make such a big deal about the stick they get on the pitch.

Dont worry i'm not in the PC brigade, but its human nature to not take critisism/abuse well regardless of how much money you are paid or fortunate you may be.

My boss pays me well but if someone called me a useless <deleted> I'd chin him in an instant!

  12. The best yet!

Tuesday night's 2-0 triumph was a display full of character, determination and no little skill as we overcame losing Didier Zokora as early as the 21st minute to a controversial red card, forcing Juande into a tactical switch and leaving us with the prospect of facing a City side with a home record of played 10, won 10 going into the game with 10 men for 70 minutes.

Thankfully, we were already 1-0 up by then as Jermain Defoe converted Aaron Lennon’s cross in the fifth minute. JD had to be sacrificed following the sending off with Teemu Tainio coming in at right-back and Pascal Chimbonda switching to central defence.

The lads relished the challenge and appeared determined that nothing was going to stand between them and another shot at a Wembley final.

When we were breached, Paul Robinson stood firm. He produced arguably his best save of the season to tip over Darius Vassell’s point-blank header and, with the score still 1-0, matched that with another reaction stop to palm away Rolando Bianchi’s header, Younes Kaboul hacking the rebound off the line.

We wrapped it up in the 82nd minute when the outstanding Dimitar Berbatov found Jamie O’Hara, he picked out Steed Malbranque and the Frenchman slotted provided the finish.

The victory – our third on the trot – booked a place in the semi-finals of the competition for the second-successive year and made it one defeat in 11 games since Juande took up his Head Coach role.

“It’s a positive result and sets us up for the rest of the season,” said Juande. “To win away from home in a cup tie against a team like Manchester City, who are up there in the league at the moment and on a good run of form at home, having been one man down after 20 minutes, it’s something really positive.

“We had to work extra hard after being down to 10 men to make up for having that inferior number. We ended up with just rewards for our efforts and the result will stand us in good stead in terms of the mindset of the lads.

“Paul Robinson did his job and I’d like to give credit to the rest of the side. The players who are meant to score goals found the net and everyone else on the pitch worked so hard, particularly the midfield.”

As for the red card – a decision that was at the least harsh, as Didier appeared to win the ball and make very little contact with Elano – Juande made clear his thoughts. “It was absolutely undeserved, unjust and it wasn’t a sending off, no way. We then had to pay the penalty of being a man down.”

    COME ON YOU SPURS!!

  13. Cheers Chon :o

Well done to your boys. Can't deny i'm gutted but your guys showed some real resiliance after going down to 10 men.

Now, go and win the <deleted> thing :D

That would be nice, Thanks !

    :D

    Thats a great Idea!

Unlucky Mr B, your lot are still in a great position though!
