Ed visa is a good idea. The classes are quite fun. Costs will vary. Maybe up to 50K baht per year. The language skills you develop will be very useful for your time in Thailand.
What about all this talk about crackdowns on ED visas?
Is it really a thing?

Situation:
- in and out of the country for the past three years (usually 3/6 months at a time)
- just used a multiple-entry 6 months touristic visa from Jan-Jul
- back in my home country for 3 months Jul-Oct
- have Thai girlfriend, currently with me in my home country with a 3 months visa, so we have to go back in Thailand to stay together
- planning on moving to Phuket so she can find a job there
- not broke, but not rich enough to have access to Elite visas and such
First idea was to get an ED Visa to learn Thai (seriously, not just as a coverage), but during my research I read that Immigration is cracking down on ED visas and it's getting hard to get one.
I would be okay also with the Muay Thai as well (practiced for a couple of years already and also fought), but I'm not really into continuing fighting and making training a priority right now.
Does anyone have updated news or personal experience on this?
What alternatives I have to stay there for at least another year?

Pretty sure you can go across a bridge and turn around and come back without needing an agency.
I see, but in terms of documentation and such, do I need anything other than my METV paper?
What about the Laos visa, do I have to do it on arrival?

Hey guys, joining the conversation as I've the same situation as OP.
Is there any agency in Udon Thani that can assist you in this?
-
The first 60 days of my multiple entry touristic visa (6 months) are about to end.
I couldn't quite find information about the procedure to get out and back into the country, specifically, if I have to provide all the documentation as usual, how long should I stay out, etc...
Also, I wonder if the famous border runs (within the same day) from udon thani to nong khai are still a thing? I've read contrasting reports about this...

Looking for a school that can provide also online classes, because the province where i'm based doesn't have any legit school.

I'm based in Khon Kaen and unfortunately there's no serious schools in the area (only pseudo schools that don't provide courses, only ed visa if you pay the bribes).
I'm genuinely interested in learning Thai and stay here up to one year, as I'm living with my gf (thai) and she's finishing the university.
Does anyone know a legit school that offers also online classes?
For the reasons mentioned above, I cannot move to BKK or CM to attend in-person classes... i can of course go there once in a while for extension/bureaucratic needs.
Any hints or recommendation is appreciated, finding a solution to this is getting very stressful

You can get another 60 day covid 19 up to March 25th at this time. Who told you that you could not get another one?
Unless you qualify for another type of visa the only one you could get in Phnom Penh is a tourist visa.
the thai immigration told me i have to leave

Hi @thaisail,
thanks for sharing your experience.
I've been in Thailand for a while, arrived with tourist visa and then used a couple of COVID extensions.
Now I can't get a new one.
Your thread is the first piece of information that seems to show an alternative solution.
Do you think in my case can work as well?
Have you used Covid extensions before? -
any legit agency that can make it easier to get this last extension?
-

What type of visa did you sue fore entry to the country is factor now. If you entered with a non immigrant visa you cannot apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension.
If on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry it can still be applied for until March 26th.
There is no limit on how many you can get.
I know in theory there's not limit, but they told me I have to leave (?)
-
Arrived on 45 days exempt, got tourist visa, then 2 covid extensions (60 days each).
They told me I have to leave now.

That sucks.
Any other ways to get an extension?
-
I've been told at the immigration I can't use covid extensions anymore (used two times).
I don't know what to do to get those 2 extra months.
Is going through an agency gonna help? Any legit agency to recommend?

The stay and expenses for basic treatment are covered by the government.
From the article above, so is that expenses covered for all of us or only Thai Nationals?
Covered only for Thai Nationals.
Foreigner must pay out of their own pocket.
I've verified this piece of info just a couple of hours ago speaking with the hospital (not for me)
