  1. Situation:

    • in and out of the country for the past three years (usually 3/6 months at a time)
    • just used a multiple-entry 6 months touristic visa from Jan-Jul
    • back in my home country for 3 months Jul-Oct
    • have Thai girlfriend, currently with me in my home country with a 3 months visa, so we have to go back in Thailand to stay together
    • planning on moving to Phuket so she can find a job there
    • not broke, but not rich enough to have access to Elite visas and such

First idea was to get an ED Visa to learn Thai (seriously, not just as a coverage), but during my research I read that Immigration is cracking down on ED visas and it's getting hard to get one.

I would be okay also with the Muay Thai as well (practiced for a couple of years already and also fought), but I'm not really into continuing fighting and making training a priority right now.

Does anyone have updated news or personal experience on this?

What alternatives I have to stay there for at least another year?

  2. The first 60 days of my multiple entry touristic visa (6 months) are about to end.

I couldn't quite find information about the procedure to get out and back into the country, specifically, if I have to provide all the documentation as usual, how long should I stay out, etc...

Also, I wonder if the famous border runs (within the same day) from udon thani to nong khai are still a thing? I've read contrasting reports about this...

  3. I'm based in Khon Kaen and unfortunately there's no serious schools in the area (only pseudo schools that don't provide courses, only ed visa if you pay the bribes).

I'm genuinely interested in learning Thai and stay here up to one year, as I'm living with my gf (thai) and she's finishing the university.

Does anyone know a legit school that offers also online classes?

For the reasons mentioned above, I cannot move to BKK or CM to attend in-person classes... i can of course go there once in a while for extension/bureaucratic needs.

Any hints or recommendation is appreciated, finding a solution to this is getting very stressful

  4. Hi @thaisail,

    thanks for sharing your experience.

I've been in Thailand for a while, arrived with tourist visa and then used a couple of COVID extensions.

    Now I can't get a new one.

Your thread is the first piece of information that seems to show an alternative solution.

Do you think in my case can work as well?

Have you used Covid extensions before?

What type of visa did you sue fore entry to the country is factor now. If you entered with a non immigrant visa you cannot apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension.

If on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry it can still be applied for until March 26th.

There is no limit on how many you can get.

I know in theory there's not limit, but they told me I have to leave (?)

The stay and expenses for basic treatment are covered by the government.

From the article above, so is that expenses covered for all of us or only Thai Nationals?

    Covered only for Thai Nationals.

Foreigner must pay out of their own pocket.

I've verified this piece of info just a couple of hours ago speaking with the hospital (not for me)
