Nick Dean in his last YouTube address said omicron is rife in Pattaya. Phuket no doubt will be the same. 2 punters went into the Triangle bar in Soi Chaiapom and it just ran through the bar. Now 6 girls tested positive and doing hospital quarantine. Triangle closed until further notice. Triangle is open sided and a band where back playing. Chonburi is due to have a meeting today. Thailand now is not just playing their own population for complete mugs but also visiting tourists. To the best of my knowledge you have to do a pre departure test to leave Thailand. Let's see how that works out for folks in an alice in wonderland country with 3000 odd covid cases. It's criminal misinformation and deliberate falsification of what is actually happening on the ground.

It's not calm in Pattaya. Triangle Bar, off Soi Bukahow, has had 6 members of staff taken into hospital quarantine after testing positive for covid. Part of the SHA+ accreditation is regular staff testing. Bar has been shut until further notice. Nick Dean was saying that omicron is everywhere in Pattaya and that Chonburi are having a meeting today. He expects restrictions to come back in. One minute the Scandinavians are whingeing their banged up because they can't read the Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital small print and then the next bunch of ABBA lovers think everythings calm.

You obviously don't know anyone in the hospitality trade on the ground in Pattaya. Nice to see someone who still believes the "listed" cases in a country that's just stopped publishing it's ATK figures. Would you put your hand up if your ATK tested positive? Yes Mr @Olmate it's off for a fortnights lie down in the hospital for you. Thought not.

LOL. As usual you seem totally out of touch. Main strip of Soi Made In Thailand raised to the ground. Most of the beer bar complexes raised to the ground. Most of Walking Street boarded up/for rent/for sale. Sausage Fest around Tree Town/Soi Bukahow. Join the queue to stir the porridge. Virtually, all bars open illegally. Last drink 11pm. Closed by 12am. BIB unwritten rules or they will all be closed. Most of LK Metro still closed. Can't get a game of pool in the bars. The good lookers won't be coming down from Isaan until bars/gogos/night clubs reopen properly. At least they have a clue, unlike some of our correspondents on this forum.

Cash Handouts Offered to Night Entertainment Workers

UK furlough scheme 70% of wages during worst of pandemic. Result - multi year low unemployment and still falling when economy reopened. Thailand - do nothing. Throw a few useless token gestures to the peasantry, rice price low of 5 baht, let them eat frogs, field rats and fido if theirs nothing left. Rack up even more debt on mortgages, cars, motorbikes and phones. 20% of GDP gone with a ridiculous Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital scheme to pretend we give a fiddlers. Top 5% of Thai society gets richer, keeping up our stellar record of the most unequal distribution of wealth in SE Asia. Well done.- 30 replies

People aren't stupid. We had the story of the Danish family yesterday, with the daughter being taken off to hospital for failing a test. Area 39, a very popular bar near Treetown, Soi Bukahow, Pattaya has started ATK testing to get into the premises. They are not accepting proof of vaccination apparently. Editor of the Pattaya News confirmed that if you fail that ATK test, an ambulance will be called and you will be taken to hospital. Who in their right mind is going to travel 6,000 miles to put up with heads you win, tails your taken to hospital.

LOL If he is lucky, his insurance company will be paying for it. You seem to be very naive about how things work in Thailand. The hospital isn't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. It's a commercial relationship between the hospital and his insurers. That's if his insurers are prepared to pay out on a asymptomatic basis. Thailand isn't a developed country either it's a developing country with an appalling education system and the most unequal distribution of wealth of any SE Asian country. I wouldn't get yourself worked about tourism returning anytime soon either. Given the omicron variant's transmissibility and speed of infection, news of the Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital scheme is going to ensure a dribble of tourists. Very unfortunate for 20% of GDP and the part of the Thai population dependant on it. You can be rest assured however that "your developed" country will continue it's abysmal testing, vaccination and lack of support for the poorest in society. No doubt many farangs, from developed countries, will continue to help those Thai citizens. Please advise me where i can get a pair of your rose tinted divorced from reality glasses.
