First of many stories to come about testing positive on arrival. Omicron spreads as easily as the common cold and infects quickly. Travelling through multiple airports, multiple planes, buses and taxis is like playing russian roulette. Know of a family who thought it was a good idea to do the same but one of the children tested positive before even leaving for Thailand. Then you have to do it all again to get home. Can't fix stupid. Need your head examining to fly half way round the world during a pandemic.

Thailand, like all governments worldwide, is going to cover it's back for a very long time to come. That means the Test-Wait-Maybe-Go-Hospital scheme or 7 day quarantine ain't going away anytime soon. That means Thai tourism and up to 20% GDP is kaput for most likely years to come. With omicron becoming the dominant strain worldwide, and peak season passing, Thailand will lose another year of tourism revenue. That's why BA and Eva have cancelled direct flights from Heathrow. No forward demand.
