Police could have shut that down in 5 minutes, but nobody was going to pay them. If ever a country needed a reset its this one. Im actually sad i am so invested in this place, i never said that out loud in 15 years.

My post was a tongue in cheek remark that an unusually high percentage of people who have purchased gold after market wheels also drive like <deleted>.
Sorry i should have made that clear, and no my gripe is not what people do to cars, my gripe is people driving like <deleted>.

Why is it out of every 100 cars i see with stupid looking gold wheels 85 of them are driving like <deleted>? I mean over and above the usual atrocious driving.
Very strange.

I understand engineless submarine rides and over head jet fighter crashes will be the turning point for tourism.

No they wont learn because there is nobody to teach them, no meaningful training or test and no police enforcement.

Hi all, anyone had any experience with Royal House construction company here in Thailand?

Its quite amazing how they have managed to turn a simple transaction into this time wasting epic.
Im not sure if this is normal but dont let go of anything before you are paid mate.
If the bank change their mind about the loan somehow the onus will inevitably fall on you to recover your car. Its never their problem.

For all those celebrating this news, note that as foreigners in Thailand, if and when you get this drug, it will be imported, taxed, and charged to you at a price higher than what it would sell for in the West. All to make Pfizer's stock price go higher.
Your wrong but even if you were right this bothers you why? Buy a vaccine or dont, nobody is forcing you.

I used them for quite a bit of stuff big and small and they were always fair.
Thank you very much, that's appreciated. The quotes i was receiving were a bit eye watering.

Just dont do it, you are very likely to end up with with one of the ludicrous 50% duty demands. Wait for a freind to bring it, or go yourself and get it when this Covid situation calms down.

Thanks all for the replies. The sort of thing im talking about is a half rendered and painted block half metal railings type of thing.
Im also starting to think this has become the most expensive province in Thailand during my absence. Im getting 200-250k quotes.
Anyway thanks again all

Its just more of the usual <deleted>, with nothing made clear and nothing that the Thais will be capable of managing.
Just as an aside the government decided to cancel the public holiday in Eastern Thailand. You got to love these people, they really raise the bar every time. They got time to worry about cancelling holidays ????

...and why are they asking for marriage certs etc for an extension of stay based on retirement?
At a guess i would say they are either just completely incompetent or leading up to the usual part with a few Baht to smooth the way suggestion.

2nd nov for the 10th is plenty of time to do a retirement yearly extension using money in the bank, first 90 day report will be due 90 days after application, first extension counts as a 90 day report.
Nice one cheers mate appreciated.

Why is the "first appointment Nov 2".
Which immigration office.
BTW which method are you using for extension based on Retirement. Money in the bank? Seasoned for 2 months on day of application?
Im not going to mention the office, they truly are a collection of unhelpful <deleted>. My last retirement visa was at Chonburi, faultless process. This office have turned the whole thing into an over complicated circus.
Home visit from 3 immigration officers, marriage certificates even though its a retirement visa and seriously a folder full of documents and photo copies i just left to my wife to gather.
Anyway yes money in the bank, been there years.
First appointment 2 Nov was blamed on local elections this week, 2 public holidays apparently and "queue full". My wife works in local government and even she was stunned at the performance when we left that office.

there is no conversion from a 90 day visa entry to a 1 year extension, your visa will be finished and you will receive a 1 year extension of the 90 day stamp you got on entry ( or at local immigration office).
your on a 90 day entry stamp issued either on arrival or at local immigration, in the last 30 days of that stamp you need to apply for a 1 year extension 1,900 thb, immigration will not keep your passport other than maybe overnight, all offices stamp retirement extensions at their own office, sometimes a senior officer is not present,
Thank you, so again my original question. On friday i went to the immigration office and for various reasons the first appointment was Nov 2, my 90 days runs out on Nov 10. In your experience that will be enough time?
Thanks again.

Retirement extensions are normally done the same business day, max 1 day, never heard about anything more. IF they tell you that it takes longer, then you should point them to the expiration day of your current permission to stay and kindly ask them for an extension stamp until you return.
Thanks for the reply.
This will be my first retirement visa since getting back to Thailand after the Covid carry on so its not an extension per se. Its converting the 90 day visa into the full one year.
I seem to remember my last retirement visa involving my passport being sent to Bangkok which did take time, it definately didnt happen on the same day.
I wont name the immigration office but they truly add new meaning to unhelpful.

Morning all,
Quick question, due to holidays, election and "queue full" i am cutting it fine date wise converting my 90 day visa into the full 1 year retirement visa.
If during the time immigration have my passport to do the visa, my 90 day visa runs out am i still ok?

Well here is a real world experience, 3 actually. My first attempt at shipping was 30kg of mixed bedding, clothes and shoes. Cost me 19k Baht on arrival.
Number 2 attempt, in my wifes name 30kg of clothes various bits and pieces cost me 18k Baht on arrival.
Number 3 my brother in law in his wifes name small container cost him 60k Baht on arrival.
These people have no rules that are adhered to its just pot luck and the level of greed you encounter on the day.
To the chap asking just buy it here mate, save giving yourself the hump ????

The best advice is look at your contract and see what limitations and exclusions are identified. No one on here can give you proper advice without knowing that info. All you'll get are opinions based on who knows what past experience.
In the end the contract will control the financial position if you flat refuse to pay and there may be other penalties if you cancel the contract in an effort to force a decisions your way. Also doing that could easily get the cost covered but affect the future quality of work.
I would look at the contract and if unclear then negotiate but be very clear about any other outliers that could come up in the future. In the grand scheme is the 40k significant compared to the cost to build?
I cant see anything specific in the contract, and no the 40,000 is not a significant amount in the grand scheme of things. It just as you mentioned sets a bad precedent for future "special problems"
But above all there is just something that dont sit right with me about renting a tool for a job i am already paying a company to do. I dont buy the noodle man a pot to boil them in.
Anyway i am going to pay it because i am loathe to hold this up for 40,000 baht, i really just asked on here to see if anyone else had a similar experience.
Thanks for the reply, cheers.

Very gracious of them accepting bids. That scabby doomed airline needs scrapping and a few of the thousands of customers they owe refunds too for years repaid. Starting with my 40,000 baht ????
