I didn't imply that you do, you've missed my point entirely. My point was that if the student learned there, and knew the correct sound along with the roman alphabet, he wouldn't have put an 'r' in it when transliterating it. Plus, the student used the wrong word for pencil, using the word for pen instead. Like i said though, maybe the student got mixed up.

Did you learn there? If so, then they taught you incorrectly. For a start there is no 'r' sound in the word ปากกา bpaak(L) gaa(M), no matter which method you use to transliterate it. Secondly, the example you used is the word for pen, not pencil ดินสอ din(M) saaw®. Perhaps you just got mixed up though.

That was an interesting 1st post until the stuff about god came into the article. I skipped that part and continued skimming over some other posts. I drank everyday for about 15 years until new year which just passed. I was in a motorcycle accident and i hit and gave a nasty leg injury to another motorcyclist. I came away practically unscathed. It was then that i realised that my drinking was in fact affecting everyone around me and 2 days later i stopped. Was it divine intervention? You could just pick a small town upcountry and enroll in a primary school there. You won't get more 'total immersion' than that, although you'll get a few funny looks and the uniform will be a bit of a squeeze.

I would take remedial education to be students who are not up to pace who have to come in and get themselves up to grade. However, what i taught this week involved every student from every class who are coming into Mattayom 1 this year. On the final day, they sat a test which determined which class they would be in for M1-M3.

The thing that bothers me about these Culture Tests that are running at the moment is that there is no way of checking whether they are accepted by the MOE/TC or not. Is there anyway of checking? I mean at least with the tests they're all on the kurusapa website, so it's already verified. The culture courses at present are links to unofficial websites, with phone numbers of people you have no idea about, who want you to send them money. Plus the fact that they're in central Thailand which is a right pain for anyone who doesn't live near Bangkok.

I think i'll just try and sit the tests for the moment and hopefully that will be enough for me to get another waiver.

From what i remember from doing it 2 years ago, it was every student from every class in their 1st year involved. It seemed to be more like a welcome and introduction to life and how things work in high school, although it's tomorrow so i'll check again then.

Perhaps it's because in ใช่หรือเปล่า which is the longer version of it, the เปล่า has ่ีjust carried the ไม้เอก tone marker. Although as you say it makes no difference. Actually if you have a look on thai-language you will see that both ปะ and ป่ะ are listed. I used to chat online a bit and have seen both spellings, although ป่ะ is more common. With regards to the high tone pronunciation of it, it's something i haven't heard much in the last couple of years, but before that i always heard it in the low tone. As it's spoken language ภาษาพูด, it's open to be butchered by young people however they like to. My guess is that is has carried on from ใช่มั้ย to ใช่ป๊ะ, different words but the same meaning and the same high tone. In fact, if you do a search on google there are a few hits for ใช่ป๊ะ.
