  1. I'm getting slightly upset reading about people justifying their lack of will by saying "oh this language has tone, I cannot cope with it". It *is* certainly an excuse for laziness. Thai people don't even know what a "tone" is. It's just natural, they can't explain it. It's just a part of their music / language. Think of it just as music. If you were a musician you'd play a certain phrase to express certain feelings. Well it's just the same with tones. You want to go up and down depending on the feeling / meaning. You just have to train your brain to recognize and output it. And you're gonna be able to do so by listening for hours and hours to native speakers I'm tired of people saying tonal languages are too hard it's sooo not true. It just takes more time for european people, true. May I suggest everyone in this topic forget about books (I never opened a book about Thai grammar and now after 7 months of learning I'm at a conversational level -with my wife at least). Do have a look at that playlist from Comprehensible Thai : Not only am I not getting paid for that but I also contribute to the channel. This is a participative channel, you're free to donate whatever you want. Watch the first video and see how you do ????
  2. Ok good. But why would you bother first with Isaan while people in Isaan also speak central Thai (they learned it at school) ? Learn central Thai and you'll be able to communicate with everyone, be it a taxi driver in Bangkok or... your wife in Isaan ????
  3. Even more scary, he talks about an immediate suspension of the Test & Go after the 7th. So as soon as January the 8th everyone would be due to AQ in Bkk or Sandbox in Pukhet... Wow... That's even earlier... But seriously I'm no longer hoping much by now (I was due to arrive on the 13th under the T&G scheme). I'm basically waiting to press the "cancel" button. I'd like to have something official though, a proof to justify cancellation in proper form after the 7th.. What a mess, I'm sad for Thai people more than for my own self, to be honest There's only this guy from Ministry of Tourism, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn who advocates for us. But don't hold your breath. He has no weight whatsoever obviously : EDIT : he's saying that there are still 30 000 applicants pending that would be unfairly refused access after the 10th while Thailand could perfectly handle the Omicron wave through February and March. (Hope my listening skills are not that bad, I could have misunderstood)
  4. Teya from "It's Thai Things" YT channel is claiming that the info was wrong all along. People that were due to arrive after January 10 under the Test & Go scheme should still be allowed in : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpVt6ZquC0nXZYeDTDrCjYw/community?lb=UgkxdaxbhChbE8NehOQ9MQPdX-_YBc2S1kq4
  5. Same here mate. Was supposed to arrive January 13, Test & Go as well... I'm still sleepy so my brain cannot quite process the news... I'll probably have to cancel everything, I don't want to quarantine The wife can wait another 3 months right...
  6. I just successfully completed the Thailand Pass form and now waiting for the reviewing to happen. BUT I'm having a huge doubt : I had prepared a .jpeg of my passport in order to upload it to TP. But then I have absolutely no memory of ever uploading it to TP. Did I or... Did I not ? Does anyone know if it's required ? If it was and let's assume I forgot to upload it, I don't think it would have let me pass and even complete the whole thing. It's day 1 and I'm scared of missing something already. The fun is still to come in days ahead I guess. What a madness ???? EDIT : nevermind, it *is* required (I just had another go at it). So I did upload it. Disregard my post ????
  7. I'll tell you what : I just subscribed to this one out of trust for you, UbonJoe But then why is it 1500 thb more expensive than the other ones (AXA, TuneIn...) ? I still don't know if it covers asymptomatic cases... The start date of the insurance coverage should be the same day you land in Thailand, right ? Oh it seems it's a Thai brand company, so I think it's a better choice. I can see QR code scanning is going to be easier. Just trying to make things easier, you know : )
  8. Hello everyone, If going to Bangkok, isn't a quarantine still required for those coming from say, Kalasin ? Thanks in advance
